Numerical solutions of two-dimensional, steady, and natural are investigated in a confined rectangular cavity with porous media. The saturated fluid is bounded by two isothermal vertical walls at different temperatures and two adiabatic horizontal walls. Governing equations are numerically solved by finite difference method with the up wind scheme. Distributions of streamline and temperature we. predicted for aspect ratios ranging from 0.1 to 1.0, Rayleigh numbers 50 to $10^4$, and tilt angles $0^{\circ}\;to\;60^{\circ}$. Representative plots of temperature and velocity field according to tilt angle are presented. The effects of aspect ratio, Rayleigh number, and tilt angle on local and average Nusselt numbers are obtained. The optimum conditions for maximum Nusselt number are also presented with tilt angles.

In this paper, we have proposed a modified Marker-And-Cell (MAC) method to investigate the problem of an unsteady 2-D incompressible flow with heat and mass transfer at low, moderate, and high Reynolds numbers with no-slip and slip boundary conditions. We have used this method to solve the governing equations along with the boundary conditions and thereby to compute the flow variables, viz. u-velocity, v-velocity, P, T, and C. We have used the staggered grid approach of this method to discretize the governing equations of the problem. A modified MAC algorithm was proposed and used to compute the numerical solutions of the flow variables for Reynolds numbers Re = 10, 500, and 50000 in consonance with low, moderate, and high Reynolds numbers. We have also used appropriate Prandtl (Pr) and Schmidt (Sc) numbers in consistence with relevancy of the physical problem considered. We have executed this modified MAC algorithm with the aid of a computer program developed and run in C compiler. We have also computed numerical solutions of local Nusselt (Nu) and Sherwood (Sh) numbers along the horizontal line through the geometric center at low, moderate, and high Reynolds numbers for fixed Pr = 6.62 and Sc = 340 for two grid systems at time t = 0.0001s. Our numerical solutions for u and v velocities along the vertical and horizontal line through the geometric center of the square cavity for Re = 100 has been compared with benchmark solutions available in the literature and it has been found that they are in good agreement. The present numerical results indicate that, as we move along the horizontal line through the geometric center of the domain, we observed that, the heat and mass transfer decreases up to the geometric center. It, then, increases symmetrically.

The objective of this study was to examine numerically the heat transfer and flow characteristics of the heat pipe with a wick using the simplified heat transfer model to enhance the cooling effects of high heat flux devices and minimizing the energy consumption for electric vehicles. The heat pipe with a wick was analyzed using commercial software with COMSOL and water was used as the working fluid. The velocity and temperature characteristics of the heat pipe were simulated numerically along the heat pipe and the local and average Nusselt numbers were calculated. As a result, the driving force occurred because of the temperature difference between the hot side and the cold side. The heat transfer of the heat pipe occurred from the hot side to the cold side and increased toward the center position. In addition, the average Nusselt numbers were 1.88 for the hot side and 0.1 for the cold side, and the maximum Nusselt number was 4.47 for the hot side and 0.7 for the cold side.

An analysis of convection, in a fully developed laminar steady flow through the vertical square duct under the condition of variational symmetric heat flux, is considered. Finite element solution algorithm by Galerkin's method with triangular elements and linear interpolation polynominals for the temperature and velocity profiles are derived for the vertical square duct. The comparison of temperature distribution due to variational symmetric heat flux in the duct were made with available the other data when the condition of peripheral heat flux were uniform and zero. Numerical values for the dimensionless temperatures and Nusselt numbers at selected Rayleigh numbers and pressure gradient parameters were obtained at a few nodal points for the vertical square ducts and effects of corner in the duct were investigated.

The melting phenomenal of the horizontal cylindrical ice-bar submerged in water are experimentally investigated for the temperature range from 2.5.deg. C to 15.deg. C. The shapes of the melting ice-bar are recorded by the Photo-elasticity Apparatus with modification of the test section. The shadowgraphs of the melting ice-bar show that water adjacent to the bar flows upward for the temperature range from 2.5.deg. C to 5.6.deg. C while above the temperature of 5.6.deg. C the flow is downward direction. The local and average Nusselt numbers become minimum at 5.6.deg. C which is considered as a critical temperature and the Nusselt numbers increase as temperature difference from the critical temperature increase.

This paper presents a numerical study conducted for analyzing the effect of the Prandtl number on natural convection in a square enclosure with an inner circular cylinder in various positons. Several Prandtl numbers (Pr = 0.1, 0.7, and 7) and Rayleigh numbers (Ra = $10^3$, $10^4$ and $10^5$) are considered in the numerical study, along with different positions of the inner circular cylinder. The position of the inner circular cylinder is changed in steps of 0.1 in the range of -0.2 to 0.2. The effect of the Prandtl number on natural convection in the enclosure is analyzed on the basis of the thermal and flow fields and the distribution of the Nusselt number. Regardless of the position of the cylinder, when the Rayleigh number is $10^5$, the surface-averaged Nusselt number of the inner cylinder and the enclosure increases as the Prandtl number increases.

This study evaluates the effect of a heated circular cylinder's size on three-dimensional natural convection in a cubical enclosure. The Rayleigh number was varied between $10^3$ and $10^5$, and the Prandtl number was maintained at 0.7. In this study, the radius of the circular cylinder was changed by 0.1 L within a range of 0.1-0.4 L. The thermal and fluid flow characteristics were regarded to be independent of time in the range of the Rayleigh number and cylinder radius considered in this study. The surface-averaged Nusselt numbers of the cylinder and the enclosure were found to increase with the increase in the radius of the cylinder. The effect of the cylinder's size on natural convection in the enclosure was analyzed across the thermal and flow fields, and the distributions of the Nusselt numbers.

The interaction of turbulent mixed convection and surface radiation in a three-dimensional channel with the heated blocks is analyzed numerically. Two blocks are maintained at high temperature and the other bottom and horizontal walls are insulated. S-4 method is employed to calculate the effect of the radiative heat transfer. The low Reynolds number k-$\varepsilon$ model proposed by Launder and Sharma is used to estimate the turbulent influence on the heat transfer enhancement. From above modeling, the effects of various channel specifications on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are investigated. The variables used for the present study are Reynolds number, block spacing, the channel height spacing for block and the emissivity. Average Nusselt numbers along the block surfaces are correlated and presented in terms of Reynolds number, emissivity and dimensionless geometric parameters. For the range of conditions in this study, average Nusselt numbers along the block surfaces are strongly influenced by the Reynolds numbers and channel height spacing for block but weakly influenced by the block spacing and the emissivity of the adiabatic walls.

The present study investigated the optimization of the absorption performance of the vertical absorber tube with falling film by considering heat and mass transfer simultaneously. Effects of film Reynolds number, geometric parameters by insert device (spring) and flow pattern on heat and mass transfer performances have been also investigated. Especially, effects of coolant flow rate and the flow pattern by geometric parameters has been observed for the total heat and mass transfer rates through both numerical and experimental studies. Based on both predicted values, the optimal coolant flow rate was predicted as 1.98 L/min. The maximum absorption rate of the spring inserted tube was increased by the maximum of $20.0\%$ than those for uniform film of bare tube. Average Sherwood numbers and Nusselt numbers were increased as Reynolds numbers increased under the dynamic and geometric conditions showing the maximum absorption performance.
This study represents numerical analysis on the thermal and fluid flow of the air layer in a solar collector. The boundary conditions was assumed that the top and bottom wall of the air layer have a heating and cooling surface. respectively. and this calculation model have a solid body with a cooling temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. As the results of simulations. the magnitudes of the velocity vectors and isotherms are increased proportionally to the tilt angles. As the tilt angle is increased. the mean Nusselt numbers are increased and the maximum value of the mean Nusselt number was appeared at tilt angle ${\theta}=75^{\circ}$.
