  • This study was conducted to identify the changes in academic self-efficacy and self-directed learning ability after applying flipped learning using media convergence to the basic nursing practice courses. It is offering flipped learning to 22 students from the experimental group and 26 students from the control group. Data were collected from August 27 to December 3, 2019. The difference in academic self-efficacy before and after the flipped learning was no significant difference between the two groups. However, the difference in self-directed learning ability was 11.32 points in the experimental group and 0.23 points in the control group (t=2.32, p=.027). According to the results of this study, flipped learning using media convergence was found to be an effective teaching method to improve self-directed learning ability of students. Therefore, it is necessary to study the expanded application of flipped learning using media convergence to various nursing subjects.

  • Purpose: This study aims to provide basic data to improve disaster nursing competency by identifying nursing students' disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and disaster nursing competency and confirming the relationship among them. Research design, data, and methodology: The subjects of this study were 310 students attending the Department of Nursing at E University in Gyeonggi-do, and the data was collected from April 13 to May 24, 2023. Results: Disaster awareness averaged 72.91±7.46 points, disaster preparedness averaged 2.82±2.81 points, and disaster nursing competency averaged 44.11±10.76 points. Disaster preparedness and disaster nursing competency were significantly higher in subjects with disaster nursing education experience than in those without experience. Disaster awareness showed a significant positive correlation with disaster preparedness (r=.20, p <.001), and also with disaster nursing competency (r=.37, p <.001). Disaster preparedness showed a significant positive correlation with disaster nursing competency (r=.49, p <.001). It was found that the disaster nursing competency was high when the disaster awareness (B=0.472, p<.001), and the disaster preparedness (B=1.561, p<.001) was high. Conclusions: The results show it is possible to improve students' disaster nursing competency by strengthening education on disaster awareness and disaster preparedness. Thus, specific efforts and future research are needed to develop disaster nursing education.

  • The purpose of this study investigates the relationships between nurses' image, professional self-concept and nursing professionalism in nursing students, and explore the plan of nursing education for the establishment of exemplary nursing professionalism in nursing students. A convenience sample of 292 subjects were recruited from one university in G city. And data were collected from November 11 to November 15, 2015. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation, Stepwise Multiple linear regression analyses with SPSS 21.0 Program. The nursing professionalism of nursing students showed a significantly positive correlation of nurses' image(r=.821, p<.001) professional self-concept(r=.701, p<.001). Fifty-seven percentage of the variance was explained by nurses' image, professional self-concept and grade. Therefore, on the basis of this study's result, when nursing educational programs are developed to make positive professionalism, these factors need to be consider.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (K-WLEIS). Methods: Data were collected from 360 nursing students using a self reported questionnaire. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were used to test construct validity. Convergence validity was identified by correlation with communication competency. Item convergent and discriminant validity were also analyzed. Reliability was evaluated internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Results: The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that the eigen values ranged from 1.34 to 5.86 and 73.2% of the total explained variance. Confirmatory factor analysis showed adequate model fit indices (χ2/df 1.89, RMSEA .07, GFI .89, CFI .95, and TLI .93) and standardized factor loadings (.48 to .87). The average extracted variances (.71 to .79) and composite reliability (.80 to .87) validated convergence and discriminant validity of the items. Test-retest reliability of intra-class correlation coefficient was .90 and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was .88. Conclusion: The K-WLEIS is an appropriate scale for measuring the emotional intelligence of Korean nursing students. Therefore, it is expected that the K-WLEIS will be used for nursing education programs to improve nursing students' emotional intelligence.

Result: Metacognition of the subjects showed a significant positive correlation with professional self-concept (r=.68 p<.001) and self-leadership (r=.79, p<.001), and professional self-concept showed a significant positive correlation with self-leadership(r=.67, p<.001). The major factors influencing self-leadership of nursing students were metacognition, professional self-concept, self-satisfaction, and perceived leadership level in order, and their explanatory power was 67%(F=79.92, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop an education program that improves metacognition and professional self-concept in order to strengthen the self-leadership of nursing students, and efforts should be made to introduce and manage it in the nursing curriculum.

The study participants were 288 nursing students from K' university on May 7 to 14, 2019.The data were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS 20,0 program. The results revealed that students acquired knowledge of dementia by grade and religion as per general characteristics. The knowledge, attitude towards dementia and awareness of elderly care showed statistically significant differences in experience of care and education about dementia. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the awareness of elderly care with knowledge (r = .105, p = 038) and attitude towards dementia (r = .556, p = 000). The students' attitude was explained about 31.3% in awareness of elderly care. As a findings, there is need to develop and apply a structured education program on dementia based on individual and group characteristics of nursing students. Also, it is recommended to provide continuous education and feedback.
