Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of surgery information service on one-day surgery patients' anxiety and satisfaction with nursing care. Methods: The study used the nonequivalent control group time difference design. Sampling and measurement of the control group participants (n=30) was completed first. Later, participants in the experimental group (n=30) were sampled, intervened, and measured. The experimental group participants received the surgery information services twice: before and after the surgery, 20~30 minutes for each of the sessions. The anxiety was measured with the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory developed by Spielberger (1975), and modified by Kim & Shin (1978). The patient satisfaction with nursing care was measured with the Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Scale developed by La Monica and colleagues (1986), and modified by Shin (1999). The data was collected between February 1 and May 30, 2006. Results: The results were as follows: 1) The level of anxiety in the experimental group was not significantly different from that in the control group. 2) The level of patient satisfaction with nursing care in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control group (t=-4.53, p=.00). Conclusion: These findings suggested that the one-day vocal cord surgery information service could be a useful nursing intervention to improve patient satisfaction with nursing care, but not for controlling the anxiety of one-day surgery patients.

This study compared nursing service satisfaction and revisit intention of comprehensive nursing care unit and general care unit patients and confirmed the impact of nursing service satisfaction on revisit intention. We used data from 201 survey questionnaires collected from four general hospitals located in B-metropolitan area. Data were collected from Jun 1 to 30, 2019. The data were analyzed using x2-test, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression. The results show that nursing service satisfaction was significantly higher in patients admitted to the comprehensive nursing care unit than in the general care unit. There was a significant correlation in increased nursing service satisfaction being associated with increased revisit intention. Among subcategories of nursing service satisfaction, Empathy and Tangibles were cited by 56% of the comprehensive nursing care unit and 40% of the general care unit. As a result of this study, it is necessary to prepare a nursing system that can continuously monitor nursing service satisfaction in order to increase hospital revisit intention and expand the implementation of a comprehensive nursing care unit system.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between patient characteristics and patient satisfaction. Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted in an acute care hospital. The subjects were 317 patients discharged from general medical and surgical nursing care units during September, 2005. Patient satisfaction was measured using the short-form satisfaction scale of Hwang and Park(2001). Additional information about patient characteristics, including general demographics and health care utilization variables, was collected from the hospital information systems. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine patient characteristics influencing patient satisfaction. Results: Patients were satisfied with hospital care with an average of 4.10 on a five-point Likert scale. Patient characteristics explained 13.5% of the variance of patient satisfaction. The significant factors influencing patient satisfaction were patients' age and perceived health status. There was no significant relationship between structural variables and patient satisfaction. Conclusion: This study showed that patients' characteristics were significant factors explaining patient satisfaction. Therefore, these characteristics should be adjusted in reporting patient satisfaction as an indicator for hospital-level or department-level rating.
Purpose : This study aims to identify the relationship between person-centered critical care nursing (PCCN) and family satisfaction for intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. Methods : This research used a cross-sectional survey. The participants were 142 nurses and 121 family members from 8 ICUs in 4 hospitals in B city. The questionnaire survey was conducted between December 2018 and March 2019. The eight ICUs were divided into those that scored high and those that scored low for person-centered care relative to the average score for PCCN, and the difference in family satisfaction between the ICUs with high and low scores was compared using t-test. Results : The mean score of PCCN was $3.68{\pm}0.40$ out of 5. In the subcategories of PCCN, "comfort"was the highest at $3.95{\pm}0.49$, followed by "respect" at $3.73{\pm}0.57$, "compassion" at $3.59{\pm}0.57$, and "individuality" at $3.47{\pm}0.54$. The average score of family satisfaction with the ICUs was $3.45{\pm}0.67$ out of 5. In its subcategories, "emotion" was the highest at $3.69{\pm}0.72$, followed by "information" at $3.61{\pm}0.75$, "participation" at $3.30{\pm}0.79$, and "resources" at $3.20{\pm}0.80$. The family satisfaction ($3.75{\pm}0.54$) with the ICU of the highest-scoring PCCN was significantly higher than the family satisfaction ($3.25{\pm}0.53$) with the ICU with the lowest-scoring PCCN (t=4.97, p<.001). Conclusion: The results suggest that the PCCN scores of ICU nurses should be promoted to improve family satisfaction. It is necessary to pursue a variety of ways to secure the provision of person-centered nursing practice in ICUs.
