The data were analyzed by repeated measures of ANOVA, and content analysis. Result: The problem defining in problem solving process was improved significantly, but there was no significant difference in the critical thinking disposition. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that PBL has a positive effect on nursing students' problem solving process, But for a more significant effect on a continuous base for critical thinking of nursing students, faculties should use web based and simulation-based education for self directed learning along with clinical situation-based scenarios.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify effects of action learning approaches on learning outcomes of students taking nursing management courses. Methods: The questionnaire surveys were completed between March 2011 and June 2012 by 109 undergraduate seniors in the nursing department of C University. Survey data were obtained 3 times: before, in and after the study of nursing management. The course consisted of lectures and clinical practices. Learning outcomes were measured through problem solving skills, team efficacy, and class satisfaction. Collected data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA with the SPSS 20.0 program Results: Scores for problem solving skills (F=13.67, p<.001) and team efficacy (F=4.49, p=.012) showed statistically significant increases after the course. The scores also increased significantly after the lectures for 5 of 9 problem solving skill subscales: analysis skill, divergent thinking, decision making, assessment, feedback, and after the clinical practices for 2 subscales: divergent thinking, and execution and risk taking. Class satisfaction score also increased after both the lectures and the clinical practices. Conclusion: The findings from this study suggest that an action learning approaches for nursing management courses would be a useful teaching and learning method to achieve learning outcomes.

  • Purpose:This study was conducted to identify the effects of an action learning based creative problem-solving (CPS) course on problem solving, creativity and team-member exchange in nursing students. Methods: A quasi-experimental study applying a non-equivalent control group pre-post design was employed. Sophomore nursing students (32 in the experimental group and 33 in the control group) were recruited from a university in G-city, Korea. Problem solving, creativity and team-member exchange were measured for the pretest and posttest using self-report questionnaires. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Chi-square, Fisher's exact test, t-test, and ANCOVA with SPSS/Win 20.0 program were used to analyze the data. Results: The scores for problem solving, creativity and team-member exchange in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that an action learning based CPS course is an effective teaching method to improve nursing students' competencies. In the future longitudinal studies are needed to assess the long term effects of the course.

  • Purpose: The goal of this study was to identify the current status of research on job stress conducted in Korea and to suggest directions for future nursing research. Methods: A total of 395 articles (76 nursing science, 100 health science, 219 social science) selected from 'Korean Research Foundation Registered Journals' were reviewed. The papers were classified by criteria, focusing on research frameworks, topics and methodologies. Results: There has been a rapid increase in the number of articles since the 1990s. However, the following issues were discovered: lack of theoretical frameworks about factors related to job stress, a paucity of attention to sophisticated methodologies including the development of strong measurement tools, and incoherence among the level of theory, level of measurement, and/or level of statistical analysis. Conclusion: Based on the key findings of this study the following are proposed: increased efforts to develop theoretical framework to guide empirical investigations, improvements in methodological rigor, research conduct with various job groups with different approaches such as qualitative or experimental research, and encouragement for interdisciplinary approaches to the study on job stress.

The subjects were 30 nurses with below 5-year-career in a University Hospital. Data was collected from 11, April until 22, April, 2005 using web-based error reporting system. Data was analyzed by mean, standard deviation, $X^{2}-test$ using SPSS WIN 10.0 program. Results: A time of medical error in operating room nursing frequent occurrence was from 12 pm. to 4pm. 'Lack of sterile materials' management' was the best frequent occurrence of medical error in operating room nursing. Conclusion: The findings of this study show that manager of healthcare organization must develop the error reporting system more familiar and ordinary. Afterward, we prevent the repetitive medical errors in nursing care through analyzing of error reporting system.
