Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze literature related to nursing team effectiveness and to summarize the definition variables included, measurement tools, and findings. Basic data on operation and research for team effectiveness in nursing units was sought. Methods: A literature search was performed to identify all studies published between 2003 and 2016 from periodicals indexed in PUBMED, CINAHL, SCIENCE DIRECT, RISS, KISS, and NAL databases. The following keywords were used in the search: 'team effectiveness', 'nurse', 'nursing', and 'hospital'. Ten studies were analyzed. Results: The analysis included domestic and international literature on nursing team effectiveness. The foreign literature included studies of various organizations including nurses, use of various research tools, leadership programs and/or new nursing delivery systems. In the Korean studies, most of the research on team effectiveness surveyed nurses on team satisfaction, team commitment, and team performance in general nursing units, operating rooms, and intensive care units. Conclusion: The findings show the necessity to develop a definition of team effectiveness that can be accepted comprehensively in nursing organizations in Korea. The definition should reflect team effectiveness that includes all cooperating units not only nurses of the nursing unit but also all other related health care teams.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the tasks of managers who were working in the Customized Visiting Health Services (CVHS) and to prioritize analyzed tasks according to performance frequency, perceived importance, and difficulty. Methods: Job analysis method by Hartley (1999) was used for task analysis and performance frequency, perceived importance, and difficulty were used for prioritize as criteria. A total of 85 managers in the CVHS of public health centers nationwide were recruited through e-mail and mail survey. Using SPSS/WIN 15.0, descriptive statistics, such as frequency distribution, means, median, and standard deviation, were conducted to examine each subject's general characteristics, the frequency, importance, and difficulty of the tasks as well as to prioritize the each task. Results: The job description of the managers revealed 12 duties, 35 tasks, and 104 task elements. Of the 85 managers, 84.8% were classified as nurses, 40.5% were home health care specialists, and 32.9% were social workers. Their coretasks were management of client cases, budget management, and management of work performance and quality assurance. Conclusion: Considering the analyzed managers' tasks and core tasks, we need to examine each manager's role precisely and provide various educational programs for improving overall manager competence.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship among self-efficacy, nursing organizational culture and the emotional labor in clinical nurses. Methods: The subjects of this study were the clinical nurses working at 3 general hospitals in D city. The self-reported questionnaires were administered to 293 clinical nurses and data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 19.0. Results: The levels of self-efficacy, nursing organizational culture and emotional labor of the subjects were revealed moderate to high. Significant explanatory variables of the degrees of self-efficacy included age, career of work and job satisfaction and nursing organizational culture included position, nursing method and job satisfaction and emotional labor included education, number of patient and job satisfaction. Correlations between self-efficacy and emotional labor and nursing organizational culture and emotional labor were negative while self-efficacy and nursing organizational culture were positive. Conclusion: The findings suggested the intervention program in order to improve job performance and job satisfaction, develop effective nursing organizational culture and reduce role conflicts among clinical nurses.
Purpose: This study systematically reviewed the research literature on nurse job satisfaction to suggest directions for further research. Methods: A total of 98 articles published in the journals registered in National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) from January 2000 to August 2013 were included for the final analysis. Results: The number of published papers related to nurse job satisfaction has increased annually. The most frequently used instrument to measure nurse job satisfaction was 'The Index of Work Satisfaction'developed by Slavitt et al. (1978). 'Personal Perception/Attitude' was the strongest predictor influencing on nurse job satisfaction (41 times, 38.0%). Organizational commitment, turnover intention, nursing performance, job stress, and organizational performance were commonly used as outcome variables related to nurse job satisfaction. Conclusion: Further research is needed to analyze diverse influential factors on nurse job satisfaction. In addition, it is also needed to develop an intervention program which can improve nurse job satisfaction.
Purpose. This paper is derived from a larger study of nurses' perceptions of their role as patient educators. The focus is to examine nurse' performance in patient education in relation to issues of their perceived responsibility and their ability to prioritize patient education. Method. A multiple-method survey design, using a questionnaire and in-depth interviews, is used to produce a comprehensive picture of the research problem examined. Result. The findings suggest that although nurses consider patient education as an integral part of their care, they fail to deliver as much as they desire in the face of work constraints. Nurses' patient education activities are mainly informal and reactional, in which case they can be easily regarded as a low priority when faced with time constraints. Conclusion. The findings suggest that there is a need for systematic approaches that enable the inculcation of patient education into routine daily care.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify knowledge and the Need of pathophysiology, perceived connectivity between knowledge of pathophysiology and clinical practice, and confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying the knowledge to clinical practice, and to analyze the correlation between the knowledge, perceived connectivity, and confidence and satisfaction of clinical nurses. Methods: Subjects consisted of 149 clinical nurses who work at 7 general hospitals and 6 university hospitals located in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi province in Korea. Those who learned pathophysiology during their undergraduate program were recruited by using a convenient sampling. The data were collected between April 23 and May 24 in 2012. Participants responded to self-administered questionnaires about knowledge and the need of pathophysiology, and the perceived connectivity between knowledge and clinical practice, and confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying knowledge to clinical practice. Results: Mean scores of knowledge and the need of pathophysiology were $2.88{\pm}0.34$ and $2.33{\pm}0.39$ each. Scores of knowledge and the need of 3 units such as fluid and electrolyte imbalance, acid-base imbalance, and alterations in the respiratory system were high among 23 units while that of adolescent disorders was the lowest. The mean score of perceived connectivity between knowledge and clinical practice was $7.32{\pm}1.57$, and those of confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying the knowledge to clinical practice were $7.66{\pm}1.66$ and $7.42{\pm}1.67$ respectively. Knowledge of pathophysiology was positively correlated with the perceived connectivity between knowledge and clinical practice, and confidence, and satisfaction with clinical performance. Conclusion: The results indicate that knowledge and the need of pathophysiology in clinical nurses is above average, and that knowledge of pathophysiology is important in promoting perceived connectivity with clinical practice and increasing confidence and satisfaction with clinical performance by applying knowledge to clinical practice.
The purpose of this study was to identify research trends related to nursing informatics competency and to present further directions. This study was scoping review designed and used methodological framework by Arksey and O'Mally. The reviewed study were found through electronic databases and published from January 2000 to December 2021. There were a total of 18 studies that were included in the analysis. The framework is comprised of evaluating the characteristics and the topic of research conducted. Research in regards to nursing informatics competency has increased after 2010, and quantitative research and research with nurses as the primary subject accounted for the majority of the studies performed. Factors that influenced the outcome for the nursing informatics competency were education, position, and key variables were work performance, self-leadership, job satisfaction, nursing work achievements, nursing organizational culture, and working environment. This research is significant that it systematically reviewed the nursing informatics competency and set a direction for further studies. In the further study, it is necessary to reflect changes in the health care system and nursing work environment and it is suggested to develop educational programs to improve nursing informatis competency for nurses and nursing students.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the association between safety care activity and documentation of nursing records among nurses working in hospitals and to provide basic data for developing hospital policy for the documentation of nursing records. Methods : By using a self-reported questionnaire, data were collected from 212 nurses working in six general hospitals in Jeju province from November 2015. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression with the SAS WIN 9.2 program. Results : Safety care activity was positively correlated with the documentation of nursing records (r=.83, p<.001). The documentation of nursing records was significantly predicted by safety care activity, working department, and nursing delivery system, and 70.9% of the variance in the documentation of nursing records was explained (F=172.31, p<.001). Conclusions : In this study, safety care activity was the most influencing factor for the documentation of nursing records. Improving work circumstances and building a system are required for nurses' safety care activity to lead to good documentation of nursing records.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the influence of visual and hearing impairment on the activities of daily living of community dwelling elderly. Methods: Data were collected by home visiting interviewers from 452 older people aged 65 years or older living in community. Resident Assessment Instrument MDS-HC(2.0version) was used for data collection. Data analysis for descriptive statistics, Chi-square test and multiple regression was made by SAS 6.2 Results: 34.7% of the subject had hearing impairment and 64.3% had visual impairment Among IADL. one half of them were dependent in ordinary house work and meal preparation. In the case of ADL. 13.9% of subjects were dependent in bathing and 8.9% in personal hygiene. There was significant difference in IADL performance by visual and hearing impairment On the other hand, ADL performance showed the significant difference. only in the case of hearing impairment. As the result of input of visual and hearing impairment in the process of regression. variances were increased from 3% to 11%. Conclusions: Large proportions of older people living in the community have visual and hearing impairment. It could be confirmed that hearing and vision were significant factors influencing on IADL performance of older people. Intervention and support policy for elderly needs to focus on improvement of visual and hearing impairment.
Purpose: This study was to understand foreign workers' experiences exposed hazard chemical materials in korean industry. Method: The research subjects were 92 foreign workers worked in seoul, namyangju, ansan, suwon, pocheon, incheon, jincheon, and daejeon. It was that grounded theory method as qualitative approach was applied with in-depth interview, recording and dictation, and collected data was analysed line-by-line by research teams. The analysis process of in depth interview data was three phase. Results: The first phase was that find out meaningful data and confronted data for meaningful data was 53 meaningful items. The second phase was coding process of meaningful data, total coding items were 9, difficulty of new environment, existence of health hazard factors originated in work, performance of basic health management, management of hazard materials in work-site, self care of hazard materials in work-site, discrimination of disaster-compensation originated in work, perception of work stress, motivation of leaving position, satisfaction for present life. The third phase was 5 adaptation process, copying phase for new environment, management phase for health hazard factors, health change phase, life change phase, illegal stay phase. Conclusion: In summary, as a results it was concluded that foreign workers was experienced new environment and then has various problems in working site. But these evidences were not different from korean workers basically, undoubtedly reality of a korean small and medium enterprise. And foreign workers with long time stay have had many health problems probably, but they have want to long stay and so reach an unexpected result, illegal long stay. Therefore, we should make efforts for adequate foreign workers' health management at work-site and overall life in governmental and industrial nursing level.
