  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing job satisfaction among nurses working in college health centers in order to enhance their role functions and to increase their work capabilities. Method: In this study a cross-sectional survey was used to collect data from 106 nurses working in college health centers. Collected data were analyzed using frequency, Pearson correlation coefficients, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression with the SPSS 20.0. Results: Mean scores for self-efficacy, job stress and job satisfaction for the participants were 3.86 (5-point scale), 2.51 (5-point scale) and 3.37 (5-point scale) respectively. There was a negative correlation between self-efficacy and job satisfaction (r=-.653, p<.001). Factors influencing job satisfaction were job stress (${\beta}$=-.58, p=<.001), level of perception among the nurses that they were contributing to the health promotion of students (${\beta}$=-.21, p=.005) and marital status (${\beta}$=.17, p=.029). These 3 elements accounted for 47.7% of the variance in job satisfaction. Conclusions: The results indicate that reduction in job stress and increase in the perception that nurses are contributing to the promotion of students' health are important to reinforce the role function of nurses and to increase their work capabilities.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the choice experiences of students majoring in nursing and whose mothers were nurses. Methods: The participants of this study were 12 students, six male and six female. Data were collected via an in-depth personal interview. The collected data were analyzed with Colazzi's phenomenological methodology. Results: A core theme of 'Natural choice as my major' emerged. In addition, we found the following three theme clusters: 1. My choice; 2. Expanding relationship between Mother and I; 3. Journey with mother. Conclusion: The results of this study show that the mothers of nursing students who were nurses themselves were good role models. They could influence their children to choose nursing as a profession. Also, they affected or are affecting their children to be colleagues in the same way. If we could provide good working environments for nurses, the next generation will also choose nursing as a profession and ultimately establish a family line. An educational setting is required to provide better professional nursing conditions for the next generation.

Of 12,864 articles reviewed, 36 were included in a systematic review and 23 in a meta-analysis. To estimate the size of the effects of simulation-based education, a meta-analysis was performed using the R package meta program. The risk of bias was assessed using RoB 2.0 and ROBINS-I. Results: The effect sizes (ES) of simulation-based education on communication and clinical judgment were ES=0.77, 95% confidence interval (95% CI)=0.43 to 1.12 on communication-related variables and ES=1.84, 95% CI=1.03 to 2.65 on clinical judgment. Conclusion: Simulation-based education for nursing students and nurses is useful for improving their communication and clinical judgment. Thus, it is necessary to develop and apply simulation-based education programs for nursing students and nurses to improve their abilities in communications and clinical judgment.

To develop indicators related to the workload of school nurses, the importance and measurability of a total of 21 workload indicators were investigated, including school nurses characteristics, school characteristics, health needs of students, and socioeconomic determinants. Results: As a result of the Delphi survey, it was found that 6 indicators were suitable in terms of importance and 8 indicators in terms of measurability. The important indicators the panel agreed on include the size of the city where the school is located, the total number of students, the number of classes, the percentage of students with chronic illness, the percentage of students visiting the health office per day, and the percentage of wound care in the health office per day. Conclusion: The percentage of students with chronic illness and the percentage of wound care per day need to be reflected in school nurse workload indicators and follow-up studies are required to shed more light on the socioeconomic determinants of schools.
