Background: This study aimed to determine the effects of complex Korean medicine treatments on a patient suffering from tetraplegia caused by spinal cord injury. Case Summary: A 64-year-old female patient diagnosed with tetraplegia was treated using acupuncture, electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, knee joint motion style treatment (MST), and herbal medicine. Clinical symptoms were measured using the numeric rating scale (NRS) and manual muscle test (MMT). After 67 days of treatment, the NRS score for lower back pain and knee pain decreased from 7 to 3. For the shoulder joint the MMT grade improved from 3+/4+(Rt./Lt.) to 4/5-; in the hip joint, it improved from 3-/3+ to 4/4+. No side effects were observed from the treatments used in this case report. Conclusion: The complex Korean Medicine treatments appeared to be effective in recovering muscle strength and reducing pain in patients with tetraplegia caused by spinal cord injury.

Objectives: This report presents the case of a 21-year-old woman with lower extremity paresthesia in both feet due to polyneuropathy. Methods: The patient was treated using a Korean traditional complex treatment approach that included herbal medication, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and moxibustion. We evaluated the improvements in the pain symptoms in both feet using the numeric rating scale (NRS); we also assessed for gait disturbance and used Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging (D.I.T.I.) to evaluate minute changes in body temperature in diseased areas. Results: After administering the Korean traditional complex treatment, we observed a decrease in pain levels in both feet based on the NRS scores. We also observed improvements in gait disturbance and D.I.T.I. Conclusions: This case showed that the use of a Korean traditional complex treatment approach, consisting of herbal medication, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion, had a positive effect on decreasing polyneuropathy symptoms.

Objectives : The Purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical application of conservative Korean treatment including hip joint MST for Bilateral Sacroillitis with Synovitis in Rt. Hip Joint Caused by Ankylosing Spondylitis. Methods : Patient is hospitalized at Dept. of Korean Internal Medicine, Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital, diagnosed as Bilateral Sacroilitis with Synovitis in Rt. Hip Joint Caused by Ankylosing Spondylitis, and treated by herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, and hip joint MST. This study was measured by NRS(Numeric Rating Scale), SLRT(Straight leg raising test), Patrick test, and Blood test(ESR, CRP). Result : After conservative treatment, the patient's pain was controlled and NRS score was decreased. SLRT score also improved. Patrick test unchanged. ESR, CRP score was decreased. Conclusion : As seen in this one case, conservative Korean treatment including hip joint MST has a positive effect to control pain with Bilateral Sacroillitis with Synovitis in Rt. Hip Joint Caused by Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to report five patients with a sternum fracture after a traffic accident who improved with a combination of Korean medicine treatments. Methods : We collected data of traffic accident patients with a sternum fracture who were admitted to Dae-Jeon Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital from March 2019 to September 2019. We observed five cases of patients treated with acupuncture, pharmacoacupuncture, herbal medicine, and Korean physical therapy. We measured the validity of the treatments using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and European Quality of Life-5 Dimension (EQ-5D) at admission, at two weeks, and on the discharge date of hospitalization. Results : Following treatment using a combination of the above mentioned methods, the general overall condition of the patients had significantly improved. Furthermore, the NRS and EQ-5D scores were numerically better. Conclusions : After the combination of Korean medicine treatments, results from five patients with a sternum fracture after a traffic accident suggested that the treatments were effective. However, the number of subjects was insufficient and individual efficacy was not measured in this study. Therefore, further studies are needed on this topic.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to review main symptoms of outpatient in Lee young Jun clinics who developed the functional cerebrospinal therapy and to investigate the therapeutic effects on one time application of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST). Methods: Patients who visited at least twice at an oriental medical clinic and treated with FCST were included. They were asked to write 216 numeric rating scale (NRS)-based questionnaire about degree of various symptoms at each visit. Prevalence and degree decrease of all reported symptoms were analyzed. Results: Total of 744 outpatients were included. There were fourteen symptoms of which more than half of all patients commonly complained. All symptoms were significantly reduced after one administration of FCST. About four to seven percent of patients reported at least five-point reduction on NRS in each symptom after FCST. Conclusions: FCST might have potential immediate effect on not only TMJ related symptoms, but also diverse kinds of pain, psychological symptoms, and fatigue-related symptoms.

Objectives : This study is aimed to report the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided bee venom pharmacopuncture in rotator cuff disease patients. Methods : We treated 4 rotator cuff disease patients with ultrasound-guided bee venom pharmacopuncture and integrative Korean Medical Treatment. The Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Shoulder Pain And Disability Index(SPADI), and Range Of Motion(ROM) were applied as outcome measures. Results : Comparing before and after treatment, both NRS and SPADI scores were decreased, and ROM was increased in all cases. And adverse events about bee venom pharmacopuncture have not been observed. Conclusion : This study shows ultrasound-guided bee venom pharmacopuncture has a meaningful clinical effect on the improving shoulder pain, disability and ROM.

The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of complex Korean Medicine treatment for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries with meniscus tear. Four patients were treated with complex Korean Medicine by acupuncture, pharmacopuncture and herbal medication. We evaluated the improvement of knee pain and function by Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC Index), EuroQol-5 Dimension Index (EQ-5D Index). After treatment, we found that knee pain was reduced and joint function was improved by NRS and WOMAC index in all cases. In the evaluation of health-related quality of life through EQ-5D index, there was no significant difference in patients with degenerative knee osteoarthritis and severe meniscal injury. This results show that complex Korean Medicine may be an effective option for ACL injuries with meniscus tear. Further clinical studies are needed to clarify the effect of Korean Medicine therapy on ACL injuries with meniscus tear.

Objectives : The purpose of this report is to show the effect of complex traditional Korean medical care focused on warm needling(WN) and bee venom(BV) injection for a patient suffering from traumatic brachial plexus injury(BPI). Methods : A 51-year-old female patient with BPI was suffering from paresis and hypoesthesia with upper-extremity impairment. The patient had been treated once a day from 4 Feb to 11 Apr of 2015 mainly with WN and BV injection on the acupoints near the distribution of the brachial plexus. Improvement of the symptoms was measured by range of motion(ROM), manual muscle test(MMT) grip strength, and with the numeric rating scale(NRS) of tactile and pain sensitivity. Results : After 67 days of treatment, all obtained results showed remarkable improvement. The patient's satisfaction declaration was recorded through an interview at the end of the treatment. Conclusions : The results suggest that anatomically concerned WN and BV treatment can be a valuable option in reducing or normalizing pains from traumatic BPI.

Objectives This study is planned to classify effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment on lumbar intervertebral Disc herniation patients' fear-avoidance belief. Methods We measured 84 patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation in Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital. We used numeric rating scale, oswestry disability index, fear-avoidance belief questionaire for evaluating effectiveness of oriental medicine treatment on lumbar intervertebral disc herniation. And We used Magentic Resonance Imaging(MRI) for classifying the patient who has lumbar intervertebral disc or not. Results 1. There was statistical effectiveness of korean medicine treatment on lumbar intervertebral disc herniation patients' fear-avoidance belief (p<0.01). ${\Delta}NRS$ and ${\Delta}ODI$ (r=0.587) was Most statistically correlative. ${\Delta}ODI$ and ${\Delta}FABQ$ had a little of statistically correlation (r=0.313). ${\Delta}NRS$ and ${\Delta}FABQ$ has no statistically correlation (r=0.145). Conclusions This study suggests that screening for the korean medicine treatment reduces fears and negative belief of patients with the lumbar disc herniation and prevents chronic physical symptoms that come from them so that it can be a great help to controlling patients' pain clinically.

Methods : Patient is hospitalized at Dept. of Oriental Internal Medicine, Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital, diagnosed as lumbar HIVD(Herniated Intervertebral Disc) and early developed Avascular Necrosis of Femur Head and treated by herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion and hip joint MST. This study was measured by NRS(Numeric Rating Scale), ODI(Oswestry Disability Index) and ROM(range of motion). Results : After conservative treatment, the patient's pain was controlled and NRS score was decreased. ODI and ROM also were improved. Conclusions : As seen in this one case, Oriental conservative treatment including hip joint MST has a positive effect to control pain with lumbar HIVD(Herniated Intervertebral Disc) and early developed avascular necrosis of femur head.
