  • The manifold $^*g-ESX_n$ is a generalized n-dimensional Riemannian manifold on which the differential geometric structure is imposed by the unified field tensor $^*g^{{\lambda}{\nu}}$ through the ES-connection which is both Einstein and semi-symmetric. The purpose of the present paper is to study the algebraic geometric structures of 3-dimensional $^*g-ESX_3$. Particularly, in 3-dimensional $^*g-ESX_3$, we derive a new set of powerful recurrence relations in the first class.

  • In this paper we obtain the matrix Tau Method representation of a general boundary value problem for Fredholm and Volterra integro-differential equations of order $\nu$. Some theoretical results are given that simplify the application of the Tau Method. The application of the Tau Method to the numerical solution of such problems is shown. Numerical results and details of the algorithm confirm the high accuracy and user-friendly structure of this numerical approach.

  • The 2D g-Navier-Stokes equations are a certain modified Navier-Stokes equations and have the following form, $$\frac{{\partial}u}{{\partial}t}-{\nu}{\Delta}u+(u{\cdot}{\nabla})u+{\nabla}p=f$$, in ${\Omega}$ with the continuity equation ${\nabla}{\cdot}(gu)=0$, in ${\Omega}$, where g is a suitable smooth real valued function. In this paper, we will derive 2D g-Navier-Stokes equations from 3D Navier-Stokes equations. In addition, we will see the relationship between two equations.

  • In order to preparr the hybridoma cells which produce a monoclonal antibody to human fibroblast interferon(Hu IFN-$\beta$), spleen cells from BALB/cmice immunized with the purified Hu IFN-$\beta$ were fused with NS-O cells, a myeloma cell line. Forty hybrids with high titer among 1300 hybrids Isolated by an ELISA screening method were subcloned using the soft agarose cloning and limiting dilution methods, and 11 hybrids were selected. As a result of iso-typing the hybrids using the mouse monoclonal typing kit, two hybridomas were found to produce 1gG 2a type of monoclonal an-tibodies. The ascites fluid from nude mice inoculated intraperitoneally with the above hybridomas was removed and purified using a protein A-Sepharose CL-4B. Monoclonal antibody was proven to have only the heavy and light chains on SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

  • Many reports indicate that $18{\beta}$-glycyrrhetinic acid ($18{\beta}$-GA) from Glycyrrhizae Radix has anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory activities, whereas reports regarding anticancer activity of the compound are few. In present study, we investigated antitumor effect of $18{\beta}$-GA on tumor caused by A549 cancer cell in mice. Data resulting from the cytotoxicity assay showed that $18{\beta}$-GA caused killing of A549 cells. $LD_{50}$ values of $18{\beta}$-GA were app. 180 ${\mu}M$ and 80 ${\mu}M$, corresponding to 48 hr- and 72 hr-treatments, displaying that the killing activity was more effective as the $18{\beta}$-GA treatment was prolonged. Based on these data, antitumor effect of $18{\beta}$-GA was tested in nude mice. For induction of the tumor, A549 ($3{\times}10^6$ cells/mouse) was injected subcutaneously into the lateral abdomen of nude mice (Balb/c nu/nu). To determine the antitumor effect, nude mice with tumor were given $18{\beta}$-GA (1 mg/200 ${\mu}l$/mouse) intraperitoneally every three days for four times. Tumor-sizes were measured with a caliper for a period of 24 days. Results showed that the $18{\beta}$-GA treatment reduced the tumor-sizes (P<0.05) as compared with negative control nude mice that received diluent (DPBS). The reduction degree was greater than reduction degree by doxorubicin (60 ${\mu}g$/mouse), and the pattern of reduction was almost sustained during the entire period of the observation. In conclusion, our studies demonstrate that $18{\beta}$-GA has antitumor activity to the A549 cancer cell-caused tumor.

  • Experimental investigation was carried out to study the natural convection of water and silicon oil due to end temperature differences in a horizontally insulated rectangular enclosure of aspect ratio 0.1 with a special attention on the core configuration in the laminar boundary-layer flow regime. Rayleigh number ranges covered herein are Ra=4.40 * 10$^{6}$ -9.64 * 10$^{7}$ for water and Ra=1.69*10$^{5}$ -3.80*10$^{6}$ for silicon oil, respectively. In the case of water, for Ra.geq.2.21 * 10$^{7}$ there appeared distinct horizontal thermal layers adjacent to the horizontal boundaries in the core and the temperature distribution outside the horizontal thermal layers, i.e., in the mid-core region, is vertically stratified. The core flow pattern was shown to be nonparallel with a weak back flow in the mid-core for Ra.geq.3.63 *10$^{7}$ . In the case of silicon oil, distinct horizontal thermal layers appeared along the core horizontal boundaries for Ra.geq.1.27 * 10$^{6}$ with a stratified temperature distribution in the mid-core, but the core flow pattern in this case was shown to be parallel. In addition, secondary flow appeared near the hot wall for Ra.geq.3.80 * 10$^{6}$ . Nusselt number, Nu, was found to be proportional to R $a^{0.3}$ for water and R $a^{0.28}$ for silicon oil in the boundary-layer flow regime. There also in an indication from the comparison with other results that Nu is independent of aspect ratio for water in the boundary-layer flow regime in low aspect ratio enclosures.res.

  • G192.8-1.1 has been known as one of the faintest supernova remnants (SNRs) in the Galax until the radio continuum of G192.8-1.1 is proved to be thermal by Gao et al. (2011). Yet, the nature of G192.8-1.1 has not been fully investigated. Here, we report the possible discovery of faint non-thermal radio continuum components with a spectral index ${\alpha}{\sim}0.56(S_{\nu}{\propto}{\nu}^{-{\alpha}})$ around G192.8-1.1, while of the radio continuum emission is thermal. Also, our Arecibo $H_I$ data reveal an $H_I$ shell, expanding with an expansion velocity of $20-60km\;s^{-1}$, that has an excellent morphological correlation with the radio continuum emission. The estimated physical parameters of the $H_I$ shell and the possible association of non-thermal radio continuum emission with it suggest G192.8-1.1 to be an~0.3 Myr-old SNR. However, the presence of thermal radio continuum implies the presence of early-type stars in the same region. One possibility is that a massive star is ionizing the interior of an old SNR. If it is the case, the electron distribution assumed by the centrally-peaked surface brightness of thermal emission implies that G192.8-1.1 is a "thermal-composite" SNR, rather than a typical shell-type SNR, where the central hot gas that used to be bright in X-rays has cooled down. Therefore, we propose that G192.8-1.1 is an old evolved thermal-composite SNR showing recurring emission in the radio continuum due to a nearby massive star. The infrared image supports that the $H_I$ shell of G192.8-1.1 is currently encountering a nearby star forming region that possibly contains an early type star(s).

  • The natural convection heat transfers of a helical coil in a duct were measured experimentally varying the inclination. To achieve high Rayleigh number, mass transfer experiments instead of heat transfer experiments were performed based upon the analogy. The $Ra_D$ was fixed to $4.55{\times}10^6$. The turn numbers were 1~10. the pitch to diameter ratio were 1.3~5, and the inclination of the helical coil $0^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}$. The measured $Nu_D$ for a single turn of the helical coil was very close to that from McAdams heat transfer correlation for a horizontal cylinder. The heat transfers of the helical coil were varied by the pith, number of turns, and duct height in a complex manner showing the velocity, chimney, and pre-heating effects. The results of the study contributes to the phenomenological analyses of the natural convection heat transfer of a compact heat exchanger.
