The swirl flame was investigated experimentally by measuring the temperature distribution, and the combustion gas concentrations. The flame structure of the swirl flame was influenced not by the swirl vane angle but by the swirler position. Due to the momentum loss as the swirler position was moved downward under the nozzle exit, the flame length was increased. Meanwhile the temperature and $CO_2$-concentrations were decreased.
A new tower internal, which is called CSE, is presented. The CSE is composed of a nozzle perforated in its bottom along the entire periphery and equipped with a multi vane axial swirler at the inlet and hollow cylindrical separator at the outlet of the nozzle. According to the experimental work for obtaining the necessary hydraulic information of the CSE, which is used for preliminary design of a separation column, the CSE showed a stable operation over the wide rage of gas/liquid ratio. However, it caused large pressure drop due to the high gas velocity which should carry liquid droplets through the element. The high pressure drop may cause problems in energy recovery and the application of the CSE can be limited to the high pressure columns. Assuming that the tray efficiency of the CSE is the same with the existing separation columns, the results of the column design showed the size reduction of the column diameters by 30 to $40\%$ and investment cost saving, depending on operating conditions. The application of the CSE to separation column may also contribute to the de-bottlenecking the existing column.
This paper describes the results of a series of experiments executed by using two pilot-scale oxv-fuel burners are designed for maximum capacity of 50,000 kacl/hr, 300,000 kcal/hr and installed in the test furnace. The effects of turn-down ratio, excess oxygen ratio, nozzle exit velocity, injection angle, swirl vane angle and inlet oxygen temperature on the combustion characteristic are investigated. Temperature distributions are measured using R-type and Molybdenum sheathed C-type thermocouple. The results showed that maximum temperature and mean temperature increase with the increase of turn-down ratio and inlet oxygen temperature. The maximum flame temperature was increased about 35% compared to the case of equivalent air operated condition. In addition, Optimum excess oxygen ratio and nozzle characteristics are obtained for this oxy-fuel glass melting furnace.

The results of a series of experiments executed by using two pilot-scale oxy-fuel burners are presented. The oxy-fuel burners are designed for maximum capacity of 50,000kcal/hr, 200,000kcal/hr and installed in the test furnace. The effects of turn-down ratio, excess oxygen ratio, nozzle exit velocity, injection angle, and swirl vane angle on the combustion characteristic are investigated. Temperature distributions are measured using R-type and Molybdenum sheathed C-type thermocouple at various points of the flame. The results showed that maximum temperature and mean temperature increase with the increase of turn-down ratio and momentum. The maximum flame temperature was increased about 35% compared to the case of equivalent air operated condition. In addition, optimum burner type, excess oxygen ratio and nozzle characteristics are obtained for this oxy-fuel glass melting furnace.
Aerodynamic forces and moments have been used to control rocket propelled vehicles. If control is required at very low speed, Those systems only provide a limited capability because aerodynamic control force is proportional to the air density and low dynamic pressure. But thrust vector control(TVC) can overcome the disadvantages. TVC is the method which generates the side force and roll moment by controlling exhausted gas directly in a rocket nozzle. TVC is classified by mechanical and fluid dynamic methods. Mechanical methods can change the flow direction by several objects installed in a rocket nozzle exhaust such as tapered ramp tabs and jet vane. Fluid dynamic methods control the flight direction with the injection of secondary gaseous flows into the rocket nozzle. The tapered ramp tabs of mechanical methods are used in this paper. They installed at the rear in the rocket nozzle could be freely moved along axial and radial direction on the mounting ring to provide the mass flow rate which is injected from the rocket nozzle. In this paper, the conceptual design and the study on the tapered ramp tabs of the thurst vector control has been carried out using the supersonic cold flow system and schlieren system. This paper provides the thrust spoilage, three directional forces and moments and distribution of surface pressure on the region enclosed by the tapered ramp tabs.

The aim of this study is to provide fundamental informations that make it possible to use a cool stream and a hot stream simultaneously. We changed the pressure of compressed air that flows into a tube, the inner diameter of orifice that a cold stream exits, and the mass flow rate ratio. And in each case, we measured the temperature of a cold stream and a hot stream in each exit of a tube. Also we measured the axial and the radial temperature distribution in internal spare of a tube. From the study, fellowing conclusive remarks 7an be made. First, As the number of nozzles increase, separation point move into the hot exit. Second, When we use guide vane type nozzle, the axial temperature distribution constant over the 0.75 of air mass flow rate radio. Third, When we use Spiral type nozzle, axial and radial temperature distribution in the inner space is higher than another nozzle. Fourth, Axial and radial temperature distribution in the inner space vortex-tube is determined by separation point. And separation point is moved by changing of air mass flow rate ratio. At last, A heating apparatus is possible far vortex-tube to use.
The isothermal flow structure and mixing characteristics of a hybrid/dual swirl jet combustor for micro-gas turbine were numerically investigated. Location of pilot nozzle, angle and direction of swirl vane were varied as main parameters with constant fuel flow rates for each nozzle. As a result, the variation in location of pilot nozzle resulted in significant change in turbulent flow field near burner exit, in particular, center toroidal recirculation zone (CTRZ) as well as turbulent intensity, and thus flame stability and emission characteristics might be significantly changed. The swirl angle of $45^{\circ}$ provided similar recirculating flow patterns in a wide range of equivalence ratio (0.5~1.0). Compared to the co-swirl flow, the counter-swirl flow leaded to the reduction in CTRZ and fuel-air mixing near the burner exit and a weak interaction between the pilot partially premixed flame and the lean premixed flame. With the comparison of experimental results, it was confirmed that the case of co-swirl flow and swirl $angle=45^{\circ}$ would provided an optimized combustor performance in terms of flame stability and pollutant emissions.

The mainly objectives of this study was a combustion dynamics and instability characteristics in a model gas turbine dump combustor which is the scale down of GE 7FA+e DLN 2.6 gas turbine combustor. Model gas turbine injector has 2-stage swirl vane and it’s reduced 1/3 size of the original one. The shape of plenum and combustor were designed for similar acoustic characteristics. Inlet air was preheated to $200{\sim}400^{\circ}C$. The flow velocity at mixing nozzle was 30 to 75 m/s and equivalent ratio was 0.4 to 1.2. The combustor length was varied for different acoustic characteristics to $375{\sim}700\;mm$. As the result, this research have been show the combustion instability was observed at lower equivalence ratios ($\Phi$ < $0.5{\sim}0.6$) and higher equivalent ratios ($\Phi$ > $1.1{\sim}1.2$).

The preliminary design of a radial inflow turbine using R134a as the working fluid at 5 kW of power for application to ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is performed to obtain the trends for the efficiency and geometrical dimensions of the turbine. Using input conditions that included a turbine inlet temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, an outlet static pressure of 4.9 bar, and a mass flow rate of 1.16 kg/s, the results of a mean flow analysis show the major dimensions of the turbine, along with an angular velocity of 12,820 rpm. Based on these results, a three-dimensional turbine model is constructed for a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. The flow characteristics inside the turbine, including the volute and nozzle, are investigated using the CFD software ANSYS CFX. For a pertinent number of nozzle guide vanes, ranging from 10 to 15, the turbine efficiency was higher than 80%, with the highest efficiency shown by a nozzle with 15 guide vanes.
