Conjugate heat transfer analysis was performed to investigate the flow and cooling performance of the high pressure turbine nozzle of gas turbine engine. The CHT code was verified by comparison between CFD results and experimental results of C3X vane. The combination of k-${\omega}$ based SST turbulence model and transition model was used to solve the flow and thermal field of the fluid zone and the material property of CMSX-4 was applied to the solid zone. The turbine nozzle has two internal cooling channels and each channel has a complex cooling configurations, such as the film cooling, jet impingement, pedestal and rib turbulator. The parabolic temperature profile was given to the inlet condition of the nozzle to simulate the combustor exit condition. The flow characteristics were analyzed by comparing with uncooled nozzle vane. The Mach number around the vane increased due to the increase of coolant mass flow flowed in the main flow passage. The maximum cooling effectiveness (91 %) at the vane surface is located in the middle of pressure side which is effected by the film cooling and the rib turbulrator. The region of the minimum cooling effectiveness (44.8 %) was positioned at the leading edge. And the results show that the TBC layer increases the average cooling effectiveness up to 18 %.

Jet vane is an useful component which is installed at the end of a nozzle for the purpose of the posture control and the secure controlling stability during the initial launching of a rocket. Small space for installation and rapid response are considered as its merits but it is ablated thermally and mechanically by the combusted gas having high velocity and temperature produced in a combustion chamber. En this study, as the fundamental study for the ablation analysis of jet vane, the heat transfer into a jet vane which is located in the supersonic flow field.

Jet vane is an useful component which is installed at the end of a nozzle for the purpose of the posture control and the secure controlling stability during the initial launching of a rocket. During several seconds from its initial launching moment, the JV driving part is heated due to the direct contact of the vane with the combusted gas and the vane is ablated mechanically or chemically. In this study, as the fundamental study for the thermal analysis of jet vane, the heat transfer into a jet vane which is located in the uniform supersonic flow field is calculated. For this, boundary layer integral method and finite difference method are used simultaneously. Based on the thermal boundary conditions derived from the analysis, the transient heat conduction in the vane is also calculated.

The Recovery facility, the scrubber is a collection device that injects liquid into the gas with the suspended particles using a spray nozzle. The liquid used is generally water. For the development of the design technology of a high efficiency scrubber, the spray characteristics according to the variation of the scrubber nozzle swirl vane was studied.
The three-dimensional flow in a turbine nozzle guide vane passage causes large secondary loss through the passage and increased heat transfer on the blade surface. In order to reduce or control these secondary flows, a linear cascade with a contoured endwall configuration was used and changes in the three-dimensional flow field were analyzed and discussed. Measurements of secondary flow velocity and total pressure loss within the passage have been performed by means of five-hole probes. The investigation was carried out at fixed exit Reynolds number of $4.0{\times}10^5$. The objective of this study is to document the development of the three-dimensional flow in a turbine nozzle guide vane cascade with modified endwall. The results show that the development of passage vortex and cross flow in the cascade composed of one flat and one contoured endwalls are affected by the flow acceleration which occurs in contoured endwall side. The overall loss is reduced near the flat endwall rather than contoured endwall.

A numerical study is peformed to investigate the effect of circumferential velocity generated by the guide vane on the nozzle flow of a jet fan, s a way of increasing the penetration force of jet fan with nozzle of 175mm diameter. For the validation of numerical results. the velocity is measured by a 5-hole pitot tube and flow visualization is conducted by the tuft method. Under the inlet condition that the maximum circumferential velocity in the stator outlet of the present jet fan is 1.8m/s, the axial velocity in the nozzle outlet has the feature that the velocity at the axis is low and the velocity near the wall high. Therefore, to increase the throw length of the jet fan, the configuration of the fairing and nozzle needs to be developed and the precise revise of the stator angle is required, In addition, the bigger the circumferential velocity, the smaller the axial velocity at the axis and the bigger non-uniformity of the flow distribution.

New high-speed depressurized circulating water channel was designed by using the CFD code. Flow in the channel has free surface and pressure in the test section can be depressed. In this study, Flow separation and bubble occurrence were considered in designing the contraction nozzle shape for better flow uniformity Tn the test section. To supplement velocity defect due to the free surface, nozzle injection system more effective in high-speed flow was installed instead of drum system. Necessary power and injection techniques were proposed. And guide vane arrangement was analyzed to reduce the flow resistance and keep quiet free surface from ´surging´. Wave absorber was devised to reduce the wave resistance and to prevent the entrainment of air to the diffuser.
The objective of this study is to document the secondary flow and the total pressure loss distribution in the contoured endwall installed linear turbine nozzle guide vane cascade passage and to propose an appropriate contraction ratio of the contoured endwall which shows the best loss reduction among the simulated cases. In this study, three different contraction ratio of contoured endwalls have been tested. This study was performed by experimental method and when the contoured endwall has the contraction ratio of 0.17 on exit height the results showed the best loss reduction.

In this study, two computational methodologies were compared to consider an effective conjugate heat transfer analysis technique for the cooled vane with thermal barrier coating. The first one is the physical modeling method of the TBC layer on the vane surface, which means solid volume of the TBC on the vane surface. The second one is the numerical modeling method of the TBC layer by putting the heat resistance interface condition on the surface between the fluid and solid domains, which means no physical layer on the vane surface. For those two methodologies, conjugate heat transfer analyses were conducted for the cooled vane with TBC layer having various thickness from 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm. Static pressure distributions for two cases show quite similar patterns in the overall region while the physical modeling shows quite a little difference around the throat area. Thermal analyses indicated that the metal temperature distributions are quite similar for both methods. The results show that the numerical modeling method can reduce the computational resources significantly and is quite suitable method to evaluate the overall performance of TBC even though it does not reflect the exact geometry and flow field characteristics on the vane surface.
