Displaced People's Consciousness of Hometown: based on the works of Poet Wu Suk-ja (실향민의 고향의식 - 우숙자 시집을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to delve into displaced people's consciousness of hometown by examining the Sijo Wu Suk-ja who was born in Gaeseong. North Korea. Specifically, it's attempted to look into displaced people's longing for hometown, their desire for the unification of South and North Koreas and their will to that. Few poets had ever coherently sticked to the themes of the pain arising from losing one's hometown and the division of the nation and of yearning for national unification. The division of the nation is a unique problem that only Korea is faced with in the world, and looking into how this issue is reflected in Sijo written by a displaced person is like shedding light on the problems with the nation. The matter of national unification is one of the absolute, unavoidable tasks in which every Korean people should be involved. and all of us should think of how it could be attained. Under the circumstances, the effort by this study to examine Sijos written by a displaced person to find out displaced people's longing for their hometown during the long period of time more than half a century, their pain resulting from separating from their families. and their long-cherished desire for the unification of the nation would serve as a chance to wake up to what problems we are confronted with and to let us direct more energy into national unification. When her nine collections of Sijo were investigated. it's found that her consciousness of hometown could be characterized by three things. The first Is the pain about losing hometown and yearning for that, and another is the pain caused by dispersed families and longing for them, and the third Is a desire for the unification of the nation and a will to that.

A model for person-oriented unification education: Based on the stages of the unification (사람중심의 통일교육 모델의 제안: 통일 단계에 따라)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose what psychological education is needed for activation of interchange between the South Korea and the North Korea and ultimately for the completion of Korean unification. We learned this reason from the German unification case. The Germany was unified 17 years ago, but many researchers evaluate that it will take about 30 years more for German people to complete real and inner unification. So, we proposed our own unification education in a psychological aspect for faster and inner unification, which is based on the principle that we should go ahead according to our situation, not simply follow the way Germany went. Therefore, we should start psychological education for unification from now on, even though unification is not accomplished at the present and Germany didn't do that. Because we can predict the pre-unification (interchange) stage would be long unlike the Germany, psychological education for unification is needed during this interchange stage consistently. For the person-oriented unification education, we should educate adaptation-enhancement strategy for each person to keep psychological stability in the interchange and unification stage, beyond simply educating ideology focusing on the political and structural unification.

Health Improvement; Health Education, Health Promotion and the Settings Approach

  • This paper develops the argument that the 'Healthy Cities Approach' extends beyond the boundaries of officially designated Healthy Cities and suggests that signs of it are evident much more widely in efforts to promote health in the United Kingdom and in national policy. It draws on examples from Leeds, a major city in the north of England. In particular, it suggests that efforts to improve population health need to focus on the wider determinants and that this requires a collaborative response involving a range of different sectors and the participation of the community. Inequality is recognised as a major issue and the need to identify areas of deprivation and direct resources towards these is emphasised. Childhood poverty is referred to and the importance of breaking cycles of deprivation. The role of the school is seen as important in contributing to health generally and the compatibility between Healthy Cities and Health Promoting Schools is noted. Not only can Health Promoting Schools improve the health of young people themselves they can also develop the skills, awareness and motivation to improve the health of the community. Using child pedestrian injury as an example, the paper argues that problems and their cause should not be conceived narrowly. The Healthy Cities movement has taught us that the response, if it is to be effective, should focus on the wider determinants and be adapted to local circumstances. Instead of simply attempting to change behaviour through traditional health education we need to ensure that the environment is healthy in itself and supports healthy behaviour. To achieve this we need to develop awareness, skills and motivation among policy makers, professionals and the community The 'New Health' education is proposed as a term to distinguish the type of health education which addresses these issues from more traditional forms.

Effects of Stress Coping Strategy, Previous History, and Parental Preparation on Children's Memory of a Stressful Event (아동의 스트레스 대처 전략과 사전 경험의 질적 특성 및 부모의 준비성 정도가 아동 기억의 신뢰성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore linkages between stress and a range of individual difference factors on children's memory for a potentially stressful event. Children (N=63) aged from 4 to 10 years, who undergone a minor dental operative procedure were evaluated. Overall, the results of this study replicated and extended previous findings of the related literature, providing some further evidence for a negative relation between stress and children's recall. More considerable variation in individual difference variables, in particular, children 's stress coping strategies, quality of previous experiences, amount of the advanced parental preparation were existed among the children, influencing the relation between the level of stress and children's remembering of a stressful event. Future inquiries for understanding theoretical, clinical, and forensic issues in children's remembering of a stressful event were discussed.

  • This paper is to analyse the development of the U.S.-China relationship and pending issues and implications. To this end the paper is composed of 6 chapters titled instruction; the relationship between the US and China in the early and hostile confrontation period; the relationship of US-Chinese approach/normalization period and the relationship in the 1980s and 1990s; the relationship by mid-2010 since the opening of the G2 era; the US-China relations and major pending issues and implications in the era of Trump-Xi Jinping; and conclusion. The rapid growth of China over the past three decades has changed the existing US-centered international order and has triggered competition between the two countries. The United States and China have become the only countries that regularly hold strategic and economic dialogue, and the topic has also developed into a country that discusses not only bilateral relations but also global issues. The issues of US-China cooperation and conflicts encompass global issues as well as bilateral relations issues. For example, the South China Sea, the North Korean nuclear issue and the THAAD, the economic and financial order, and the Taiwan issue. It is not a matter of another country, but a problem that directly or indirectly leads to Korea's diplomacy, security and economy. In order to prevent 'Korea passing' in the US-China relationship, we need a hedging strategy that maintains and strengthens the strong ROK-US security cooperation and harmonious promotion of ROK-China economic cooperation.

Korea-U.S. Relationship appearing in the Newspaper and Social Media: Based on the news and information related to the (언론과 소셜미디어를 통해 살펴본 한미관계: <한미정상회담> 관련 뉴스와 정보를 중심으로)

  • This study searched and analyzed news and information on the Korea-U.S. Summit to explore which political agenda is spreading among Korean newspapers and social media. The result of the analysis revealed that, on the one hand, the conservative-leaning newspaper, Chosunilbo, covered the unresolved issue between two countries. The principal source of news was the opposition party. On the other hand, the progressive-leaning newspaper, Kyunghany Sinmun, highlighted President Moon's visit to the United States and described the visit to the United States as an achievement. In this paper, the principal source of news is the ruling party. Both conservative and the progressive newspapers did not present a negative view of the United States. In the case of Chosunilbo, it mentioned that foreign policy priority of President Biden is human rights in North Korea. If the two countries do not solve this issue, the relationship between Korea and the United States will not develop further. Second, I searched YouTube videos about the Korea-U.S. summit and conducted a network analysis to understand the influence of YouTube videos and explore their relationship the each other. The results of the analysis revealed that the 10 most influential videos portrayed the Moon government positively. These videos held the achievement of the visit to the United States in highly esteem and framed it positively, similarly to the progressive newspaper.

Critical analysis of policies for children with immigration background in Korea : Focusing on agenda of family and education (이주배경 아동·청소년 정책에 대한 비판적 분석과 대안 모색 : 가족과 교육 아젠다를 중심으로)

  • As more migrants stay for a longer term or settle in Korea through marriage, labor contract, defeat of North Korea, etc, the discourse on the migration policies gets more complicated and expands further beyond the issue of their adaptation to the Korean culture and their rights to encompass their families and children. The social integration policies for children of migrant families in Korea have been mainly led by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. This paper will look at the challenges that children with migrant background face and their problems while reviewing the policies on children with migrant background in a critical perspective. In conclusion, it gives some suggestions to help establish more open society with multi-cultural values espoused.

  • Confucius made endless thoughts on such themes as enlightening for the internal value of human, how to draw out such value and how to make personal relationship in order to overcome the chaotic Chun-qiu age. The spirit of 'Harmony but not Sameness' stated by Confucius passes us the theoretical meaning for making a good relationship with the others, which is realization of Benevolence. The spirit of 'Harmony but not Sameness' pursues moral, public and golden-mean value. This pursuit is made to look for harmonization and coexistence in personal relation, community based relation and, furthermore, relation with the nature, so that a great man is an entirely-good person who has realized the spirit of 'Harmony but not Sameness'. The spirit of 'Harmony but not Sameness' throws to us many issues to think of for the social unity, 'living together', which is the central theme of today. The objects for which the 'living together' shall be embodied are the minor groups of our society and those who are relatively expelled from the power and benefit including multi-culture based families, north Korean refugees and etc. Such open mind for harmonization and coexistence gives us, furthermore, another important issue to think of also in the matter of environment that includes the ecosystem and the entire nature.

Analysis on Effects of AI Thinking Skills Coding Program on Software Development Tendency to Primary Students in Rural Areas (AI 사고력 코딩 프로그램이 농어촌 초등학생의 SW성향에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Subjects for the study are educationally alienated class living in poor educational environment. Those students often live outside the reach of software education which is one of key capabilities of Fourth Industrial Revolution. The gap between student in rural and urban areas is becoming more distinct and schoolchildren in rural areas are further limited to access software development education under COVID-19 where face-to-face classes are more rarely conducted. To overcome the issue, AI based thinking skills coding educational program was developed and tested on children in 6 primary schools in south and north of Gyunggi-do, South Korea. Questionnaire were conducted before and after classes to research on students'awareness on AI thinking skills coding. At the end of the study, subjects showed statistically significant increase in confidence, interest, and attitude, and showed positive overall feedback on software development tendency after the program is conducted.

Pre-pregnancy Diet to Maternal and Child Health Outcome: A Scoping Review of Current Evidence

  • Objectives: Pre-pregnancy diet has an important role in preparing for healthy generation. However, evidence on this issue has been scarce. A scoping review synthesising current evidence will support the demand to map 'what has been researched' on pre-pregnancy diet and maternal and child health. Methods: Systematic search was performed using PICOS (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes, and Study design) framework in electronic databases. Articles were screened for eligibility, summarized, and the quality was assessed using the National Institute of Health assessment tool. The review structure complies with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews guide. Results: Forty-two articles were included after full-text screening. Twenty-five studies were in high-income countries (HICs), six in each upper-middle income, five in lower-middle income countries (LMICs), and one in low-income countries (LIC). Based on the regions: North America (n=16), Europe (n=5), South America (n=4), Australia (n=4), Asia (n=5), Middle East (n=2), and sub-Saharan Africa (n=1). The two-most observed diet-related exposures were dietary pattern (n=17) and dietary quality (n=12). The most assessed outcome was gestational diabetes mellitus (n=28) and fetal and newborn anthropometry (n=7). The average quality score±standard deviation was 70±18%. Conclusions: Research related to pre-pregnancy diet is still concentrated in HICs. The context of diet may vary; therefore, future research is encouraged in LMICs and LICs context, and Mediterranean, South-East Asia, Pacific, and African regions. Some maternal and child nutrition-related morbidity, such as anemia and micronutrient deficiencies, have not been discussed. Research on these aspects will benefit to fill in the gaps related to pre-pregnancy diet and maternal and child health.
