The aim of this study was to investigate clinical and cephalometric characteristics of patients with anterior open bite and mandibular condylar resorption. Total of 45 subjects were recruited from the patients who visited the Department of Oral Medicine, Kyungpook National University Hospital in 2006 for treatment of temporomandibular dysfunction. After taking patient's history concerning temporomandibular joint dysfunction, clinical examination was performed and panoramic, transcranial, and lateral cephalometric radiographs were obtained. The cephalometric data were compared to those of normal Korean population. The results were as follow: 1. Clinical characteristics 1) Female was 4.6 time more prevalent than male, and 82.2% of the subjects were in second and third decade. 2) Angle's Class I occlusal type was 51%, Class II was 29%, and Class III was 20%. 3) The mean value of the overjet and overbite were 3.2mm and -1.1mm, respectively. 4) Most of the patients had parafunctional oral habits. 2. Cephalometric characteristics 1) SNA showed no significant difference between condyle resorption and normal group. However, in female resorption group, SNB was lesser and ANB was greater than those in normal group. 2) SN-GoMe and FMA increased in resorption group. 3) Palatal plane angle did not show significant difference between resorption and normal group. 4) Total posterior facial height was significantly smaller and total anterior facial height showed no significant increase as compared with those of the normal group. 5) Mandibular body length did not show any significant difference between resorption and normal group.

With increasing demand of power, the equipment of power system is enlarging and the absolute capacity is going up. As a result, when a fault occurs, the fault current is consistently increasing. Therefore, I suggested some solution for limiting the fault current more efficiently. This study shows the characteristics of superconducting limiting elements and normal conducting elements combined with a transformer. We performed a short-circuit test about the fault current by using SCR switching control system operated from a CT. When short circuit accidents happened in the secondary side of a transformer, fault currents flowed and a SCR switching control system was operated. It resulted in a decrease of the fault current in the limited elements of third winding connected in parallel. For this test, we used YBCO thin films and normal conducting elements as the limited elements. Within a cycle, a superconducting fault current limiter with YBCO thin films reduced more than 90% of fault current because the resistance of superconducting elements sustainedly grew. On the other hand, the limiter with normal conductors limited as much as a set value because its resistance characteristic was linear. Consequently, in case of the limiter with superconductor, limiting range of the circuit was wide but the range of protective detection was undefined. In contrast, as for the limiter with normal conductors, limiting range and protection duty were appropriate.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference between normal and malocclusion subjects in Temporomandibular joint. This study was based on the 44 subjects with normal occlusion, 30 subjects with Class II malocclusion, 30 subjects with Class III malocclusion before treatment. After submental vertex view analysis, each subject was given the TMJ Tomogram in centric relation and centric occlusion and the Cephalogram was taken with Quint Sectograph. The TMJ spaces were measured and analyzed statistically. Following results were obtained. 1. When centric relation was compared to centric occlusion, The condyles were positioned more posteriorly and superiorly in centric relation position of the normal occlusion group and the class II malocclusion group. In the Class III malocclusion group. There was no significant difference in the condylar position between centric occlusion and centric relation. 2. The condyles of the Class III malocclusion group were positioned more superiorly than the normal occlusion group and the Class II malocclusion group. 3. In the correlation between articular eminence posterior slope angle and lingual slope angle of the upper anterior central incisor, there was significant correlation in the normal occlusion group. But no significant correlation was found in the malocclusion group. 4. The mean value of the horizontal angulation of condylar head to the transear rod axis plane was $20.32^{\circ}{\pm}8.12^{\circ}$ in the normal occlusion group, $25.08^{\circ}{\pm}4.83^{\circ}$ in the class II malocclusion group, $14.68^{\circ}{\pm}4.08^{\circ}$ in the class III malocclusion group.
Vaccination is considered a promising alternative for controlling tick infestations. Haemaphysalis longicornis midgut proteins separated by SDS-PAGE and transferred to polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) membrane were screened for protective value against bites. The western blot demonstrated the immunogenicity of 92 kDa protein (P92). The analysis of the P92 amino acid sequence by LC-MS/MS indicated that it was a H. longicornis paramyosin (Hl-Pmy). The full lenghth cDNA of Hl-Pmy was obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) which consisted of 2,783 bp with a 161 bp 3' untranslated region. Sequence alignment of tick paramyosin (Pmy) showed that Hl-Pmy shared a high level of conservation among ticks. Comparison with the protective epitope sequence of other invertebrate Pmy, it was calculated that the protective epitope of Hl-Pmy was a peptide (LEEAEGSSETVVEMNKKRDTE) named LEE, which was close to the N-terminal of Hl-Pmy protein. The secondary structure analysis suggested that LEE had non-helical segments within an ${\alpha}$-helical structure. These results provide the basis for developing a vaccine against biting H. longicornis ticks.
Radioimmunoassay for the measurement of plasma renin activity (PRA) was performed in 43 normal Koreans and 45 patients with essential hypertension. Plasma samples were drawn in supine position in the morning and after upright posture for 4 hours. Urinary sodium excretion rates were measured in the concurrent 24 hour urine samples, as an index of their sodium balance. The results were as follows: 1. There was an inverse correlation between 24hr sodium excretion and PRA. The normal values of PRA in supine position ranged from 1.0 to 7.0 ng/ml/hr. when 24 hour sodium excretion were between 50 to 150 mEq. PRA in elderly tended to be low. 2. When stimulated by 4 hour upright posture, PRA increased by 2.6 times from the baseline value. 3. Of the 45 patients with essential hypertension, PRA was low in 10 cases (22.2%), normal in 28 cases (62.2%), and high in 7 cases (15.6%). 4. In the normal and high renin groups, who tended to be younger in ages, mean diastolic blood pressure and BUN were higher than in low renin group. Though hypertensive retinopathy and left ventricular hypertrophy in ECG were more prevalent in the former, no significant differences were noted as in the case of serum cholesterol. 5. There were 8 cases of cardiovascular complications (7 with cerebral vascular accident, 1 with myocardial infarction); 3 in low renin group (30%), 2 in normal renin (7.1%) and 3 in high renin group (42.9%). This figure indicated higher rate of cardiovascular complications in high renin groups, and lower rate in normal renin group. But the incidence of the complication was not significantly low in low renin group.
Yung Nok Lee (Dept. of Biology, Korea University) : Studies on the phosphate metabolism in Chlorella, with special reference to polyphosphate. Kor. J. Microbiol., Vol.2, No.1, p1-11 (1964). 1. Uniformly $^{32}P$-labeled Chlorella cells which were irradiated with Cobalt-60 gamma-rays of about 70, 000 $\gamma$ dose, were further grown in a standard "cold" medium ("hot".rarw."cold"), and some portions of the algae were taken out at the begining of, and at intervals during the culture, and subjected to analyze the contents of $^{32}P$- and total P in various fractions of the cell materials. Results obtained were compared with those of nonirradiated normal cells. 2. Amounts of phosphate in various fractions of the nonirradiated normal Chlorella cells were measured using uniformly $^{32}P$--labeled cells. Analysis of the $^{32}P$--labeled algal cells showed that the highest value in P-content was the fraction of RNA followed by those of lipid, polyphosphate "C" polyphosphate "B", DNA, nucleotidic labile phosphate compounds, polyphosphate "A" and protein. It was observed that content of total polyphosphates in a single Chlorella cell was almost equal to RNA-P content in the cell, and the amount of RNA-P was almost equal to ten times of DNA-P content. 3. When the $^{32}P$--labeled algae which were irradiated with gamma-rays were grown in a normal "cold" medium, phosphate contents in the fraction of DNA, nucleotidic labile phosphate compounds and protein decreased markedly, while the contents of phosphate in the fractions of polyphosphate "C" and potyphosphate "B" increased in comparison with those of unirradiated normal cells. So, it was considered that the pretreatment of above mentioned dose of gamma-ray inhibited DNA and protein synthesis from polyphosphate in Chlorella cells. 4. Proceeding the culture of $^{32}P$--labeled Chlorella in a "cold" standard medium, whose synthetic activity of DNA and protein from polyphosphate was disturded by gamma-ray irradiation, the amounts of $^{32}P$-in the fraction of polyphosphate "C" increased, in contrast with those of polyphosphate "B" fraction. According to these experimental results, it was inferred that polyphosphate "B" could transform into polyphosphate "C" in normal growing Chlorella cells.sults, it was inferred that polyphosphate "B" could transform into polyphosphate "C" in normal growing Chlorella cells.ing Chlorella cells.
To train deep learning algorithms, a sufficient number of data are required. However, in most engineering systems, the acquisition of fault data is difficult or sometimes not feasible, while normal data are secured. The dearth of data is one of the major challenges to developing deep learning models, and fault diagnosis in particular cannot be made in the absence of fault data. With this context, this paper proposes an anomaly detection methodology for rotating machines using only normal data with self-labeling. Since only normal data are used for anomaly detection, a self-labeling method is used to generate a new labeled dataset. The overall procedure includes the following three steps: (1) transformation of normal data to self-labeled data based on a pretext task, (2) training the convolutional neural networks (CNN), and (3) anomaly detection using defined anomaly score based on the softmax output of the trained CNN. The softmax value of the abnormal sample shows different behavior from the normal softmax values. To verify the proposed method, four case studies were conducted, on the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) bearing dataset, IEEE PHM 2012 data challenge dataset, PHMAP 2021 data challenge dataset, and laboratory bearing testbed; and the results were compared to those of existing machine learning and deep learning methods. The results showed that the proposed algorithm could detect faults in the bearing testbed and compressor with over 99.7% accuracy. In particular, it was possible to detect not only bearing faults but also structural faults such as unbalance and belt looseness with very high accuracy. Compared with the existing GAN, the autoencoder-based anomaly detection algorithm, the proposed method showed high anomaly detection performance.
Serum gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) has been widely used as a marker of alcohol intake and liver failure. Recently, the relativity between GGT and various diseases has been identified with growing interest. In this study, we examined relativity between GGT value and risk factors of coronary heart diseases among those with normal GGT value, excluding heavy drinkers. Specifically, we compared the differences based on age and gender. Data from the 2011 KNHNES were used (N=3,619). When the subjects were categorized according to quartile based on the serum GGT levels, there was 10~20, 21~27, 28~38, 39~71 IU/L in men, and 6~12, 13~16, 17~22, 23~42 IU/L in women. The mean of most variables was the highest in the $4^{th}$ quartile (Q4), however age and LDL Cholesterol were the highest in the $2^{nd}$ quartile (Q2) in men. The FRS and 10-year CHD risk was the highest in the $2^{nd}$ quartile in men, and the highest in the $4^{th}$ quartile in women. Increased GGT was correspondingly linked with age in women but age was the highest in GGT in the $2^{nd}$ quartile in men. In the 70's, the highest Q1 and Q2 was in men and the highest Q3 and Q4 in women. Although GGT value was within the normal range, increased GGT showed correlation with various risk factors. The FRS and 10-year CHD risk showed different patterns according to age and gender along with increased GGT value.

The principle of self clamping friction clutch is presented in this paper and the transmitted torque capacity is also calculated. In order to enlarge the friction force, a part of rotating force of driving side is converted to normal force of friction materials by clamping arm. The increased normal force of friction materials assures the large friction force and the transmitted torque capacity of clutch becomes large. The self clamping friction clutch is adopted in the tube type air pressure clutch and the condition of stability is investigated. It is proven that the inclined angle of clamping arm and the friction factor of friction materials are the essential elements in stability and torque capacity of self clamping friction clutch. The transmitted torque capacity of self clamping friction clutch is compared with air pressure clutch. The normal force of friction lining is magnified by 1/(1-k) and the transmitted torque capacity is also magnified with same proportion comparing with air pressure clutch. The larger the friction factor of friction lining, the larger the magnification factor. The longer the clamping arm, the smaller the magnification factor. It must be also noted that the value of k=${\mu}Y/X$ is the criterion of stability. If the value of k=${\mu}Y/X$ is greater than or equal to 1, the self clamping friction clutch is unstable and it can not be used as clutch.
Purpose: To propose a standard value for the maxillary sinus volume of a normal Korean adult by measuring the width and height of the sinus and analyzing their correlation and the difference of the sinus size respectively between sexes, and on the right and left sides. Materials and Methods: Fifty-two (95 maxillary sinuses) out of 20 years or over aged patients who had taken CT in the Department of Dental Radiology, Yonsei University, Dental Hospital, between February 1997 and July 1999 who were no specific symptom, prominent bony septa, pathosis, clinical asymmetry and history of surgery in the maxillary sinus were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The mean transverse width, antero-posterior width, height and volume of the normal Korean adult's maxillary sinuses were 28.33 mm, 39.69 mm, 46.60 mm and 21.90 cm³, respectively. There was a significant sex difference in the sinus volume (p>0.05). In the mean antero-posterior width, height and volume of the sinus, no significant difference was observed between both sides. All four measurements showed a significant correlation between both sides (p>0.0001). The widths and height of the sinus all showed a significant correlation with the sinus volume (p>0.0001). Conclusion : In the Korean normal adult's maxillary sinus, males tended to be larger than females. Except for the transverse width, all of the measurements showed no significant difference between the right and left side, but significant correlations in the four measurements between both sides were observed. Thus, the overgrowth or undergrowth in the unilateral maxillary sinus may suggest a certain pathosis or developmental abnormalities in the maxillary sinus.
