$37^{\circ}C$에서 incubate 한 가토(家兎) 폐포표면활성물질(肺胞表面活性物質)의 활성도(活性度)의 변화(變化)와 in vitro X 선조사(線照射)의 영향(影響) (Changes of Activities of Rabbit Pulmonary Surfactant Incubated at $37^{\circ}C$, and effect of X-Irradiation in Vitro)

  • In an attempt to understand the possible effects of temperature and X-irradiation on the activities of surfactant in rabbits, the pulmonary surfactant from the rabbit was subjected to the incubation at $37^{\circ}C$ and X-irradiation with 900r in vitro, and activities of surfactant were measured at 10, 30, 60, and 90 minutes. Tension-area diagram of the lung extract was recorded automatically by the modified Langmuir-wilhelmy balance with a synchronized recording system designed in this Department. A comparison was made with the normal and the following results were obtained. 1) The maximal surface tension, minimal surface tension, width of the tension area diagram at the surface area of 40% and stability index of the normal rabbit lung extract were $31.6{\pm}3.11\;dynes/cm,\;8.2{\pm}0.56\;dynes/cm,\;21.4{\pm}4.40\;dynes/cm\;and\;1.12{\pm}0.22$,respectively. 2) In the $37^{\circ}C$ incubation group, maximal surface tension was similar to the normal value, while minimal surface tension was significantly lower and stability infer was markedly higher than the normal. 3) In the group where X-irradiation of 900r in vitro was applied, maximal surface tension did not differ greatly with the normal or the $37^{\circ}C$ incubation group. The minimal surface tension was significantly lower than the normal but comparing with the $37^{\circ}C$ incubation group, some decrease in minimal surface tension was noted. The width of the tension·area diagram at 40% and stability index in the irradiated group were significantly higher than the normal but a tendency of increase was noted comparing with the $37^{\circ}C$ incubation group.

조 분말의 첨가가 sponge cake의 품질특성에 미치는 영향 (Quality Characteristics of Sponge Cakes Containing Various Levels of Millet Flour)

  • 식이섬유원으로서 메조와 차조 분말을 sponge cake 제조에 이용하고자 10-50%의 비율로 첨가하여 cake 제조적성 및 이들의 이화학적 특성을 조사하였다. 총 식이섬유는 박력밀가루가 2.23%인데 비하여 메조 5.04%, 차조 5.72%로서 2배 이상 높았으며, alkaline water retention capacity는 메조, 차조 모두 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서 증가하였다. Rapid Visco Analyser에 의한 호화특성에서 maximum, minimum 및 final viscosity는 메조와 차조의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서 감소하였다. Mixograph에 의한 반죽의 리올로지특성에서 peak time 및 peak height는 메조와 차조의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서 감소하였다. Sponge cake의 crust color의 L 값은 메조의 경우 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서 증가하였으나, 차조첨가군은 대조군보다는 L 값이 높았지만 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서 감소하는 경향을 보였다. Crumb color의 L 값은 메조, 차조첨가군 모두 대조군보다 낮았으며, 첨가량이 증가함에 따라서 감소하였다. Sponge cake의 부피는 메조 및 차조를 첨가함으로써 감소하였고, 10% 첨가수준에서는 유의적인 차이가 없었으나 20% 첨가수준부터는 대조군에 비해 품질이 떨어졌다.

지각과민성(知覺過敏性) 치아(齒牙) 치수조직(齒髓組織)의 Arachidonic Acid Metabolism에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (ARACHIDONIC ACID METABOLISM IN HYPERSENSITIVE HUMAN DENTAL PULP)

  • Human dental pulps obtained from normal teeth, hypersensitive teeth and teeth with inflamed pulp were studied to measure and to compare the endogenous levels of arachidonic acid metabolites in order to see the relative activities of the different pathways involved in arachidonic acid metabolism. Pulp homogenates were incubated with $^{14}C$-arachidonic acid and lipid solvent extracts were separated by thin layer chromatography (TLC) to be analyzed by autoradiography and TLC analyzer. 1. The most significant metabolite was HETEs showing $96.9{\pm}37.8$pmol/mg tissue protein/hr in normal pulp, $169.2{\pm}76.7$ in hypersensitive pulp and $385.4{\pm}113.2$ in inflamed pulp. In normal pulp $LTB_4$, 6-keto-$PGF_{1\alpha}+PGE_2$, $TXB_2$ and unidentified metabolite were formed in decreasing order. While in hypersensitive and inflamed pulp 6-keto-$PGF_{1\alpha}+PGE_2$, $LTB_4$, $TXB_2$ and unidentified metabolite were formed in decreasing order. 2. In hypersensitive pulp only HETEs were significantly increased when compared with that in normal pulp. The levels of all the converted metabolites in inflamed pulp were significantly increased compared with those in normal pulp. In inflamed pulp, the levels of $TXB_2$ and HETEs were significantly increased compared with those in hypersensitive pulp. 3. The ratio of each metabolites to the total converted metabolites showed an increased value of $TXB_2$ and 6-keto-$PGF_{1\alpha}+PGE_2$, as the degree of inflammation was increased, while that of HETEs decreased both in hypersensitive pulp and inflamed pulp more than in normal pulp. 4. The relative amounts of the total metabolites formed in lipoxygenase pathway to cyclo-oxygenase pathway were 6.8 fold in normal pulp, 4.4 fold in hypersensitive pulp and 3.8 fold in inflamed pulp.

전자파를 조사한 흰쥐 간조직에서의 Mixed Function Oxidase System과 Xanthine Oxidase 활성에 미치는 녹차의 영향 (Effect of Green Tea on Mixed Functon Oxidase System and Xanthine Oxidase Activities in Rat Liver Exposed to Microwaves)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of microsomal mixed function oxidase (MFO) and xanthine oxidase activities (XOD) in the liver of rats exposed to microwave. Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing 200$\pm$10g body weight were randomly assigned to a normal and microwave exposed(MW) groups; microwave exposed groups were divided into two groups; microwave (MW) group and green tea(GT) gropu which were fed distilled water and green tea extracts during experimental periods, respectively. Rats were irradiated with microwave at the frequency of 2.45 GHz for 15min and rats wre sacrificed at the 4th day of the microwave irradiaton. The hemoglobin level of GT group was higher than that of the normal gropu and MW group, but the hematocrit value was not significantly different among all experimental gropus. The activity of serum GOT of MW group was significantly increased but that of GT group was similar to normal group. Activities of GPT were not significantly different among all experimental groups. Liver XOD activity was significantly increased in the microwave exposed groups but green tea normalized the XOD activity. The activity of hepatic microsomal cytochrome P450 was significantly increased in MW group compared to normal group and that of GT group was similar to that of the normal group. The activity of hepatic microsomal NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase was also significantly increased in MW group compared to normal group, but that of GT group was similar to that fo the normal group. In conclusion, the activities of MFO and XOD were elevated by microwave irradiaton, but the activation of MFO system as well as the damage of the liver by microwave were reduced by green tea supplementation.

유선형 후방 밸런스 신발과 일반 신발의 족저압 비교 (The Plantar Pressure Comparison between the Curved Rear Balance Shoes and Normal Shoes)

  • The purpose of study was to compare plantar pressure during walking wearing the curved rear balance and normal shoes. Twelve university students(height: $177.2{\pm}4.6cm$, weight: $68.4{\pm}5.8kg$, age: $26.2{\pm}1.6yrs.$) who have no known musculoskeletal disorders were recruited as the subjects. Plantar foot pressures were evaluated using the Tekscan's pressure measurement systems while subjects walked upright position wearing the curved rear balance and normal shoes in random order at a speed of 1.3 m/s. The contacting dimension, the mean plantar pressure, and the peak plantar pressure were determined for each trial. For each dependent variable, paired t-test was performed to test if significant difference existed between shoe conditions (p<.05). As a result, the curved rear balanced shoes showed as large as 38 up to 50 % of area at the rear side of feet than the normal shoes when measuring the contact area with upright position. In the distribution of average pressure, the curved rear balanced shoes displayed fairly low pressure compared to other normal shoes in general except for one area, which is M2, and especially, the measured pressures at the both rear (M1) and middle (M5) side of feet were low and statically significant. The contact area of the curved rear balanced shoes when walking was significantly larger at the rear (M1) and fore (M6, M7) side of feet. When considering pressure distribution at walking, low pressure was detected at the rear side of feet with the curved rear balanced shoes and at the fore side of feet for other normal shoes. The results showed that the contacting dimension of the curved rear balance shoes that acts between shoes and feet was higher than the corresponding value for the normal shoes in general; therefore it would reduce the pressure to the feet by allowing the each sole of the foot on the ground evenly.

조기 알츠하이머 치매의 뇌포도당 대사 감소 평가에서 오류발견률 조절법의 적용 (Application of False Discovery Rate Control in the Assessment of Decrease of FDG Uptake in Early Alzheimer Dementia)

  • 목적: 오류발견율 조절법을 PET 영상분석에 이용하면 다중비교에 따르는 위양성율을 줄이면서 동시에 검정력을 높일 수 있다. 조기 알츠하이머 치매 환자에서 오류발견율 조절법을 적용하였을 때와 비보정역치, 무작위 가우스장 보정역치를 적용하였울 때 FDG PET에 나타난 포도당 대사 감소영역이 어떻게 달라지는지 조사하였다. 방법: 28명의 평균 66세 (${\pm}7$)인 조기 알츠하이머성 치매 환자와 연령을 맞춘 18명의 정상인($68{\pm}6$세)의 FDG PET 영상을 SPM99 소프트웨어로 분석하였다. 환자군과 정상군의 차이와 각 환자와 정상군의 차이를 각각 비보정 역치 p값 0.001, 무작위장 보정 역치 p값 0.001, 오류발견율 조절법에 의한 오류발견율 0.001일 때을 정하여 이 세 통계적 역치에서 각각 뇌 포도당 대사감소 영역을 결정하였다. 결과: 집단 분석결과 비보정 역치를 사용하였을 때 가장 넓은 영역에서, 보정역치를 사용하였을 때 가장 좁은 영역에서, 오류발견율 조절법을 적용하였을 때 중간크기의 영역에 대사가 감소하였다. 개인분석결과 비보정 역치 경우 발견된 대사감소 화소보다 오류발견율 조절시 많은 화소가 나타난 경우(8/28, 29%)와 보정 역치 경우와 오류발견율 조절시에는 대사감소 부위가 나타나지 않고 비보정 역치 경우에만 넓은 부위에 대사감소부위가 나타난 경우(6/28, 21%), 그리고 보정역치보다 오류 발견율 조절시에 훨씬 많은 화소가 이상부위로 나타나서 비보정역치 경우에 근접하는 넓이를 찾을 수 있는 경우(14/28 50%)이었다. 결론: 조기 알츠하이머 치매 환자의 FDG PET을 오류발견율 조절법으로 분석한 결과 집단분석이나 개인분석 모두 대사감소부위를 잘 찾을 수 있었다. 집단의 크기가 작은 환자의 집단분석이나 특히 개인분석의 경우 오류발견율 조절법을 이용하여 FDG PET을 분석하는 것이 좋을 것이라 제안한다.

  • The goodness of fit statistics of normality plots are obtained using the Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC) method. This work is intended to compare with Shapiro-Wilk W statistic. Wel will use and discuss an accuracy of the test and the best cut-off value which minimizes the sum of the type I and II error probabilities.

정상인과 당뇨병 환자에 있어서 Maltitol 경구 투여가 혈당과 혈액내 insulin농도 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Maltitol on Blood Glucose and Insulin Responses in Normal and Diabetic Subjects)

  • This study was an attempt to investigate the usefulness of maltitol as an alternative sweetener. The acute effects of oral ingestion of 50g of maltitol or glucose on blood glucose and insulin levels following test dose were investigated by using five healthy normal subjects and ten diabetic patients. The data demonstrated marked differences between the utilization of maltitol and of glucose in both groups. Blood glucose and insulin responses to glucose were significantly greater than to maltitol in normal subjects(p<0.05). In diabetic patients, the peaks of the mean increment in blood glucose concentration after glucose and maltitol were reached at 60 minutes with mean values of 135mg/dl and 49mg/dl, respectively, and these differences were statistically significant(p<0.001). As for blood insulin responses in diabetic patients, the peak of the mean increment after glucose was 25.03$\mu$U/ml at 120 minutes. In contrast insulin responses to maltitol were significantly lower than to glucose(p<0.05), and the peak value was 7.98$\mu$u/ml at 60min. From these results it can be concluded that ingestion of maltitol resulted in significantly lower blood glucose and insulin increments than did glucose in both normal and diabetic patients.

Experimental study of shear behavior of planar nonpersistent joint

  • The present article discusses the effect of the ratio of bridge surface to total shear surface, number of bridge areas and normal stress on the failure behavior of the planar non-persistent open joints. Totally, 38 models were prepared using plaster and dimensions of $15cm{\times}15cm{\times}15cm$. The bridge area occupied $45cm^2$, $90cm^2$ and $135cm^2$ out of the shear surface. The number of rock bridges increase in fixed area. Two similar samples were prepared on every variation in the rock bridges and tested for direct shear strength under two high and low normal loads. The results indicated that the failure pattern and the failure mechanism is mostly influenced by the ratio of bridge surface to total shear surface and normal stress so that the tensile failure mode change to shear failure mode by increasing in the value of introduced parameters. Furthermore, the shear strength and shear stiffness are closely related to the ratio of bridge surface to total shear surface, number of bridge areas and normal stress.
