Purpose: This study aimed at exploring the product choice tendency differences between the consciousness and unconsciousness of goal orientation when product attributes is perceived to be compatible with the goal orientation. Research design, data and methodology: Empirical study used a 2 (goal conscious vs. unconscious) × 3 (hedonic vs. performance vs. reliability attribute) between-subjects design and one control group. To verify hypotheses, χ2-test was conducted to 320 questionnaire data answered by undergraduate students of Jiangxi Normal University in China. Results: First, consumers under unconscious condition showed a higher product choice consistency based on compatibility between hedonic (performance) attribute of the product and their hedonic (performance) promotion goal-orientation than those under the conscious condition. Second, product choice effects of compatibility between reliability attribute of the product and prevention goal orientation were not significantly different between consumers' consciousness and unconsciousness of their prevention goal orientation. Conclusions: Marketers of 'under dog' should try to develop and deliver the product attributes different from the attributes of 'top dog.' And the 'top dog' marketers should help their customers to avoid the conflicts by developing the environment of inducing their goal orientation unconsciously. Brand marketers should always pay attention to the reliability attributes concerned with the prevention goal orientation.
Single-grain (c-normal or c-parallel) and multi-grain YBCO superconductors were prepared by a melt growth process with/without seeding. The magnetic levitation force and trapped magnetic field at liquid N2 temperature (77 K) of the YBCO superconductors were investigated. Samples for the levitation force measurement were zero-field cooled (ZFC) to 77 K, and samples for trapped field measurement were field-cooled (FC) using Nd magnets. As for the magnetic levitation force, the c-normal, single grain sample showed the largest value, whereas the multi-grain sample showed the lowest value. The trapped magnetic field of the c-normal and c-parallel single-grain samples was 4-5 times that of the multi-grain sample. In addition, as the external magnetic field (the number of magnets) increased, the both properties increased proportionally. These results were explained in terms of the orientation dependence of the levitation forces and the magnetic field trapping capability of the YBCO superconductor.
Using X-ray crystallography powder diffraction, the quantitative representation method of preferred orientation of particles ill tablets was developed. Selected faces of a tablet. the upper surface and faces cut parallel and normal to the upper surface, were presented to an X-ray beam and X-ray diffraction patterns for these faces were measured. The effects of particle size. tableting pressure, and particle form on the preferred orientation were also investigated. It was also recognized that the degree of anisotropy in terms of capping tendency was influenced by the preferred orientation of particles in tablets.
This study presents a simple method to control the seed orientation which leads to the various growth characteristics of a single grain REBCO (RE: rare-earth elements) bulk superconductors. Seed orientation was varied systematically from c-axis to a-axis with every 30 degree rotation around b-axis. Orientations of a REBCO single grain was successfully controlled by placing the seed with various angles on the prismatic indent prepared on the surface of REBCO powder compacts. Growth pattern was changed from cubic to rectangular when the seed orientation normal to compact surface was varied from c-axis to a-axis. Macroscopic shape change has been explained by the variation of the wetting angle of un-reacted melt depending on the interface energy between $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-y}$ (Y123) grain and melt. Higher magnetic levitation force was obtained for the specimen prepared using tilted seed with an angle of 30 degree rotation around b-axis.
In-situ neutron diffraction has been employed to examine the effect of strain path on lattice strain evolution during monotonic and cyclic tension in an extruded Mg-8.5wt.%Al alloy. In the cyclic tension test, the maximum applied stress increased with cycle number. Lattice strain data were acquired for three grain orientations, characterized by the plane normal to the stress axis. The lattice strain in the hard {10.0} orientation, which is unfavorably oriented for both basal slip and {10.2} extension twinning, evolved linearly throughout both tests during loading and unloading. The {00.2} orientation exhibited significant relaxation associated with {10.2} extension twinning. Coupled with a linear lattice strain unloading behavior, this relaxation led to increasingly compressive residual strains in the {00.2} orientation with increasing cycle number. The {10.1} orientation is favorably oriented for basal slip, and thus showed a soft grain behavior. Microyielding occurred in the monotonic tension test and in all cycles of the cyclic test at an applied stress of ~50 MPa, indicating that strain hardening in this orientation was not completely stable from one cycle to the next. The lattice strain unloading behavior was linear in the {10.1} orientation, leading to a compressive residual strain after every cycle, which, however, did not increase systematically from one cycle to the next as in the {00.2} orientation.
Children's depression and perception of family environment were measured in 218 elementary school children with the use of the CDI(Children's Depression Inventory), CBCL(Child Behavior Check List) and FES(Family Environment Scale). Two-way ANOVA revealed that the scores of the depressed children were higher on the CBCL than the scores of the normal children. The degree of cohesion, independence, intellectual orientation, and organization was higher in normal than in depressed children, but the conflict of depressed children was higher than that of normal children.
Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) affects the growth of plants as well as their photosynthetic rates. A mathematical model for intercepted solar radiation on the tilted leaf with any azimuth angle was established and the leaf orientation in which receives the maximum solar radiation was determined each month, during the growing season, and for an year. PAR was maximized at the leaf elevation of 50。~60。 in the winter, at that of 20。~40。. On the whole the leaves of tilt angle 0。~40。 received much radiation comparing with those of other tilt angles. The theoretical tendencies were compared with the distribution of leaf orientation measused practically. The average leaf elevation of maple tree was 17.0。$\pm$12.0。, and that of ginkgo was 29.8。$\pm$16.0。. Several results from other literatures support our suggestion that cumulative effevct of the relationships between surface normal vector and a vector pointing in the direction of the radiation determine the leaf orientation.
Based on the database of 128 disk galaxies (66 SO, 62 S and Irr) mailnly compiled from Kent and Gunn (1982) and Doi et a1.(1995) which is complete down to m < 15.6 mag within a radius of $3^{\circ}$, the orientation of spin vectors of disk galaxies of the Coma cluster has been analyzed. The results confirm the morphological dependence of the orientation of disk galaxies found from the analsis of the Virgo cluster. Common features of orientation of disk galaxies of both clusters are outlined.
It is known that the ranks of the semigroups $\mathcal{SOP}_n$, $\mathcal{SPOP}_n$ and $\mathcal{SSPOP}_n$ (the semigroups of orientation preserving singular self-maps, partial and strictly partial transformations on $X_n={1,2,{\ldots},n}$, respectively) are n, 2n and n + 1, respectively. The idempotent rank, defined as the smallest number of idempotent generating set, of $\mathcal{SOP}_n$ and $\mathcal{SSPOP}_n$ are the same value as the rank, respectively. Idempotent can be seen as a special case (with m = 1) of m-potent. In this paper, we investigate the m-potent ranks, defined as the smallest number of m-potent generating set, of the semigroups $\mathcal{SOP}_n$, $\mathcal{SPOP}_n$ and $\mathcal{SSPOP}_n$. Firstly, we characterize the structure of the minimal generating sets of $\mathcal{SOP}_n$. As applications, we obtain that the number of distinct minimal generating sets is $(n-1)^nn!$. Secondly, we show that, for $1{\leq}m{\leq}n-1$, the m-potent ranks of the semigroups $\mathcal{SOP}_n$ and $\mathcal{SPOP}_n$ are also n and 2n, respectively. Finally, we find that the 2-potent rank of $\mathcal{SSPOP}_n$ is n + 1.
Gas pressure sintered silicon nitride based composites with 3 wt% $\beta$-Si3N4 whiskers were prepared and change of properties according to the whisker orientation and sintering temperature was studied. The tapes with whiskers were fabricated by two different method ; conventional tape casting and a modified tape casting by using guide pins,. Orientations of the whiskers were controlled by different stacking sequences of the sheets cut from the tape. Samples were fully densified by gas pressure sintering at 2148-2273K. As the sintering temperature increased size of the large elongated grains increased. In case of unidirectional samples sintering shrinkage normal to the whisker alignment direction was larger than that of parallel to the direction and the shrinkage anisotropy increased slightly as sintering temperature increased. As sintering temperature increased the crack length parallel to whisker alignment direction became shorter but that normal to the direction did not depend on sintering temperature. In case of cross-plied samples the anisotropy of mechanical properties disappeared.
