A stability analysis of a non-linear prey-predator system under the influence of one dimensional diffusion has been investigated to determine the nature of the bifurcation point of the system. The non-linear bifurcation analysis determining the steady state solution beyond the critical point enables us to determine characteristic features of the spatial inhomogeneous pattern arising out of the bifurcation of the state of the system.

In this paper we extend Takahashi's fixed point theorem on discrete semigroups to general semi-topological semigroups. Next we define the semi-asymptotic non-expansive action of semi-topological semi-groups to give a partial affirmative answer to an open problem raised by A.T-M. Lau.

We study lightlike hypersurfaces of a semi-Riemannian space form $\tilde{M}(c)$ admitting a semi-symmetric non-metric connection. First, we construct a type of lightlike hypersurfaces according to the form of the structure vector field of $\tilde{M}(c)$, which is called a ascreen lightlike hypersurface. Next, we prove a characterization theorem for such an ascreen lightlike hypersurface endow with a totally geodesic screen distribution.

We study Einstein lightlike hypersurfaces M of a Lorentzian space form $\tilde{M}(c)$ admitting a semi-symmetric non-metric connection subject to the conditions; (1) M is screen conformal and (2) the structure vector field ${\zeta}$ of $\tilde{M}$ belongs to the screen distribution S(TM). The main result is a characterization theorem for such a lightlike hypersurface.

Combustion in a narrow space has been interested as a model of meso-scale combustors (or micro-combustors). Premixed flames have been used to overcome flame quenching in a narrow space and non-premixed flames have been used to improve flame stabilization. In this study, overall characteristics of premixed flame and non-premixed flame in narrow combustion spaces were reviewed. Various effects such as the flow velocity distribution, thermal interaction, enhanced mass diffusion were discussed and an eventual structure of the flame at the extinction limit was introduced.

Let M$^n$ be a complete oriented non-compact minimally immersed submanifold in a complete Riemannian manifold N$^{n+p}$ of nonnegative curvature. We prove that if M is super-stable, then there are no non-trivial L$^2$ harmonic one forms on M. This is a generalization of the main result in [8].

Banyan network is a popular and basic structure of the multistage ATM switches. This paper presents a novel approach to resolve the internal blocking of the banyan network by using Non-Blocking Permutation Generator (NBPG). The NBPG performs two functions, i.e., the first is to extract the conflict cells from the incoming cells and the second is to re-assign new input port addresses to the conflict cells. As a result, NBPG generates non-blocking I/O permutations. To estimate the performance of NBPG, we provide several simulation results.

This paper presents new fast scalar multiplier of elliptic curve cryptosystem that is regarded as next generation public-key crypto processor. For fast operation of scalar multiplication a finite field multiplier is designed with LFSR type of bit serial structure and a finite field inversion operator uses extended binary euclidean algorithm for reducing one multiplying operation on point operation. Also the use of the window non-adjacent form (WNAF) method can reduce addition operation of each other different points.

Non-destructive test on the size and depth of cracks has been required for the safety evaluation of structures. Ultrasonic method based on laser techniques is one of the most popular non-destructive methods which overwhelm PZT based tests. In the present paper, ultrasonic was generated by high powered Q switching Nd:YAG pulse laser. Experiments were carried out using Fabry-Perot interferometer which was intensively discussed in the present study.

I. Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the ultrastructure of sclerotic dentin of non-carious cervical lesions after acid etching. II. Materials and methods Teeth with non-carious cervical lesions were collected and dentinal surfaces were acid etched with 35% phosphoric acid. The micromorphological features of peritubular dentin and intra-tubular calcific structure were observed with scanning electron microscope.(omitted)
