A program for drawing of penetrating lines was developed in personal computer. PROLOG, a language of Artificial Intelligence, was used and a data structure using relational data base was designed. An algorithm for finding the penetrating lines in the real space was developed. The program can be applied at any types of penetrating problems like curve-surface, surface-surface, curve-object, surface-object, object-object, etc. In developing the program, the following results were obtained. (1) Relational data base built in PROLOG and the function of backtracking are helpful in Computer Graphics. (2) In spite of increasing the number of edges, assigning direction to the edges makes it possible to represent the polygon meshes as the non ordered sets of directional half edges. (3) Topologicaly the penetrating lines of a polygon can be represented as the edge-pairs in the edge list of the polygon,
It is common m childhood that children suffer intracavity or head injury, falling down backward, having chopsticks in their mouth. But most of them have paralysis of upper and lower extremity because of secondary damage by penetrating injury of brainstem and spine. We could not find this case which have shown infaction of medulla oblangata on MRI and paralysis by impact only without clear penetrating evidence. So the authors report this case with study of literature because we experience one case that have high signal density in brainstem on MRI, Loss of consciousness, and left hemiplegia without clear penetrating evidence after falling down backward, having chopsticks in her mouth and regard it rare case.
It is necessary to estimate the soundness of tunnel using non-destructive tests(NDT) for effective repairs and maintenances. But, the state of tunnel lining could not be investigated using previous non-destructive techniques, due to the various types of support and accessibility only from one side in tunnel lining. Recently, the various non-destructive techniques such as ground penetrating radar(GPR) have been researched and developed for inspection of tunnel lining. In this study, the usefulness and applicability of GPR test in tunnel lining inspection has been investigated through model tests and tunnel site application. This paper described the tunnel lining inspection for lining thickness, cavity and support using GPR test. From the results of tests, we have concluded that GPR test are very useful and effective techniques to look into the interior of lining and measure the lining thickness.
The pressure penetrating steel pipe pile method which can be constructed in a narrow space using the hydraulic jack is used on the foundation reinforcement, extension of the structure and basement, restoration of the differential settlement etc.. This method is possible to construct in narrow areas and low story height, the non-noise and non-vibration works, and it is possible for the construction site to be clean without slime. And it is possible to confirm the bearing capacity of pile due to penetrating the pile with the compression load of hydraulic jack. In this study, the static load test with the load-transfer test was carried out to investigate the bearing behavior characteristics of the pressure penetrating steel pipe pile. Four series of static load test were executed to investigate the variation of bearing behavior of the pressure penetrating steel pipe pile. As a result of these tests, the allowable load of the pressure penetrating steel pipe was evaluated more than 637 kN, and the shaft resistance corresponding to 81~86% of each applied load was mobilized with only a small portion of the base resistance acting. And it was also evaluated that the unit skin friction was mobilized to maximum value after two months.
Retained wooden foreign bodies following penetrating trauma are a difficult diagnostic problem. However, penetrating wooden foreign bodies of head and neck have the potential for misinterpretation or failure to detect such foreign bodies on CT. Given the likelihood that such a miss will result in an abscess or neurovascular injury, we present the method with higher window settings, they had a higher attenuation with a unique striated internal architecture and different Hounsfield numbers readily differentiate air and non-air hypodense material such as fat, or possibly wood. Being aware of the potential appearance of wood, we may also find CT useful in excluding small retained fragments in postoperative patients with persistent symptoms. This article presents two cases in which wooden foreign bodies of head and neck were present with CT evaluation.
This study provides a comparative analysis of the effects of pre-slaughter penetrative and non-penetrative stunning and post-slaughter stunning on meat quality attributes in longissimus lumborum (LL) and semitendinosus (ST) muscles in heifers. Ten animals were assigned to each of four treatment groups: i) animals were subjected to conventional Halal slaughter (a clean incision through the structures at the front of the upper neck - the trachea, oesophagus, carotid arteries and jugular veins) and post-cut penetrating mechanical stun within 10 to 20 s of the neck cut (Unstunned; US); ii) high power non-penetrating mechanical stunning followed by the neck cut (HPNP); iii) low power non-penetrating mechanical stunning followed by the neck cut (LPNP); and iv) penetrative stunning using a captive bolt pistol followed by the neck cut (P). For each carcass, muscle samples were removed within 45 min of slaughter, portioned and analysed for pH, cooking loss, water holding capacity (WHC), tenderness (WBS), lipid oxidation (TBARS) and color, over a two week storage period. Stunning did not affect pH and cooking loss. Significant differences in water holding capacity, tenderness, lipid oxidation and color were present at different storage time points. HPNP stunning resulted in lower WHC and color values, particularly lightness ($L^*$), higher TBARS values and peak force values compared with those stunned using LPNP, P and US. These adverse effects on quality were mostly encountered in the ST muscle. In conclusion, the meat quality achieved using P, LPNP and US treatments was comparable, and no treatment stood out as considerably better than another.

A ground penetrating image radar (GPR) using an ultra wideband (UWB)impulse waveform is developed for non destructive detection of metallic pipelines buried under the ground. Dielectric constant of test field is measured and then a GPR system is designed for better detection up to 1 meter deep. By considering total path loss, volume of complete system, and resolution, upper and lower frequencies are chosen. First, a UWB impulse for the frequency bandwidth of the impulse is chosen with rising time less than 1 ns, and then compact planar UWB dipole antenna suitable for frequency bandwidth of a UWB impulse is designed. Also, to receive reflected signals, a digital storage oscilloscope is used. For measurement, a monostatic technique and a migration technique are used. For visualizing underground targets, simple image processing techniques of A-scan removal and B-scan average removal are applied. The prototype of the system is tested on a test field in wet clay soil and it is shown that the developed system has a good ability in detecting underground metal objects, even small targets of several centimeters.
