  • This study proposes the construction of chaos simulator for cutting characteristics evaluation of non-ferrous metals. Also this paper aims to find the optimal cutting conditions of diamond turning machine by measuring surface form and roughness to perform the cutting experiment of non-ferrous metals, which are aluminum, with diamond tool. As well, according to change cutting conditions such as fled rate, using diamond turning machine to perform cutting processing, by measuring cutting force and surface roughness and according to cutting conditions the aluminum about cutting properties. Trajectory changes in the attractor indicated a substantial difference in fractal characteristics. Constructed chaos simulator in this study can be used for cutting characteristics evaluation of non-ferrous metals.

  • Since there are many kinds of non-ferrous metal, it is difficult to investigate the current status on the recycling of non-ferrous metals. Therefore, the survey is confined to some commercially important non-ferrous metals such as copper, lead, zinc, aluminum, nickel and magnesium in this article. Domestic demand and production in recent years and current status on the recycling of the scraps of these non-ferrous metals are introduced briefly here.

  • In the present industry, there are necessary to cut only iron metals but also non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, plastic and wood(Paulownia), therefor it had been made the studies of non-ferrous metals by many scientists. we hope this kind of study will continue. The purpose of this study is to conduct the basic experiment about influencing of the feedrate adjustment and the change of the side rake angle at turning of non-feerous metals. As the results, the surface roughnesses were on the decrease with a side-rake angle and feedrate diminution in the case of the pastic, aluminum, and paulownia.

Trajectory changes in the attractor indicated a substantial difference in fractal characteristics and attractor quadrant characteristics. In quantitative quadrant feature extraction, 1,309 point in the case of A17075 (one quadrant) and 1,406 point (one quadrant) in the case of brass were proposed on the basis of attractor reconstruction. Proposed attractor quadrant method can be used for high-precision cutting characteristics evaluation of non-ferrous metals.

  • Not only ferrous but also non-ferrous materials such as aluminum, brass, plastic and woods need cutting operation in recent manufacturing industry. Over the past few years a considerable number of studies have been made on non-ferrous metal cutting. But more study is required to meet various engineering needs. The purpose of this paper is to preform an experiment on the influence of feed-rate adjustment and side rake angle in turning operations from non-ferrous metals. As a result, the surface roughness was reduced when a side-rake angle increases and feed-rate decreases in the case of the plastic, brass, aluminum, and paulownia. Therefore, this papers develop a new type bite that be used to adjust side-rake angle.

  • The outline of general trend on production, consumption and price of non-ferrous metals during 1969 is summerized in the paper. The production of every non-ferrous metals has increased compare to that of last year, and their consumption except silver has also increased. Specially the rate of growth of production is that; The rate of growth of consumption is such; The prices of gold and silver have decreased since last November due to the stability of international currency and the creation of S.D.R. at I.M.F., but those of other metals have increased, marking the price at the end of 1969 as follows: Cupper price of Foreign Refinery showed ¢72.471/lb(increased 39% per year), lead and Zinc jumped up to the highest price since the Korean War (1951-1953), showing the lead price ¢16.50/lb (increased 27% per year) and the zinc price ¢15.50/lb (increased 15% per year). Price of tungsten was higher than the agreed price that was made between Korea and U.S.A. during 1951 through 1954, showing $63.4/S.T.U. (increased 13% per year). The price of molybdenum was slightly increased from $1.62 to $1.72 (increased 6% per year). In summing up, the year of 1969 was the golden age for the nonferrous metals. It is, hawever, expected that in the next few years, the consumption rate and the prices of non-ferrous metals will be declined compared to those of 1969.

  • The production of Secondary Non-ferrous Metals (SNM) is characterized by low investment, energy consumption and cost, less pollution as well as rather simple technology. In the past years, the SNM industry has seen relevantly rapid progress in China. Especially in the filed of clean hydrometallurgical treatment certain novel technologies for recovery and separation have successfully been elaborated, and a number of medium and small commercial plants established. On the basis of four common metals Cu, Al, Pb, Zn, and Ni, Co, this paper describes the status quo and progress of SNM industry in China, indicating that a lot of work should still be done in salvage of waste metals. It is recommended that measures for collecting and classifying SNM resource should be strengthened and the research on new technologies for scavenging such metals should be supported.

  • The stress-assisted oxidation behaviour of Inconel 52 M/316 austenitic stainless-steel (SS) dissimilar weld joints (DMWJ) in a simulated pressurised water reactor environment was investigated. A corrosion galvanic couple formed between the Inconel 52 M and 316 SS due to differences in their nonferrous metal content. The electric field from the corrosion couple attracted metal cations (e.g. Fe2+, Cr3+) to the Inconel 52 M that were deposited as FeCr2O4. An additional corrosion galvanic couple was generated due to variations in the plastic deformation of the DMWJ. The superposition of electric fields from the different couples resulted in ridge-like oxide depositions in the fusion zone.

  • The paper presents results of a study on the selective separation technology of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from broken light bulbs. The proposed method is to use magnetic fluids to obtain a magnetic fluid based- separation. [1] The study was conducted using three types of waste materials: regular light bulbs, auto light bulbs and neon tubes. In order to process the waste materials, a six stages technologic flow was developed: a) separation of light bulbs components; b) Physical and chemical analysis of raw materials; c) grain conditioning of the raw material; d) dry magnetic separation of ferrous components; e) magnetic fluid separation of non-magnetic material; f) recovery of the magnetic fluid adhered to the surface of the separated material grains. [2] This study shows that magnetic fluid separation is only profitable for regular and auto light bulbs and is not profitable in the case of neon tubes.
