목분 충진 고분자 용융체의 압출다이 내 유동 및 열전달에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis on the Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristic of Wood-flour-filled Polypropylene Melt in an Extrusion Die)

  • A three-dimensional numerical analysis of the flow and heat transfer characteristic of wood-flour-filled polypropylene melt in an extrusion die was carried out Used for this analysis were Finite Concept Method based on FVM, unstructured grid and non-Newtonian fluid viscosity model. Temperature and flow fields are closely coupled through temperature dependent viscosity and viscous dissipation. With large Peclet, Nahme, Brinkman numbers, viscous heating caused high temperature belt near die housing, Changing taper plate thickness and examining some predefined parameters at die exit investigated the effect of taper plate on velocity and temperature uniformities. In the presence of taper plate, uniformity at die exit could be improved and there existed an optimum thickness to maximize it.

모세관내 과도유동현상을 이용한 비뉴턴유체의 점도측정 (Viscosity Measurement of Non-Newtonian Fluids Using the Transient Flow Phenomena in the Capillary Tube)

  • The purpose of the present study is to measure the viscosity of liquid in the capillary tube viscometer using the unsteady flow concept. The capillary tube viscometer is consisted of a small cylindrical reservoir, capillary tubes, and the mass flow rate measuring system interfaced with computer. Two capillary tubes with 1.152 and 3.002 mm I.D. are used to determine the diameter effects on the viscosity measurements. The instantaneous shear rate and gravitational driving force in the capillary tube are determined by measuring the mass flow rate through the capillary tube instantaneously. The measured viscosities of water and aqueous Separan solution are in good agreement with the reported experimental data.

  • Xanthomonas campestris에 의한 생물고분자 xanthan gum 생산의 경우 배양액은 xanthan gum의 농도가 증가하면서 고점도의 non-Newtonian 유체로 변하게 되는데 이로 인하여 영양분과 산소의 물질전달이 저해를 받아 미생물의 성장과 xanthan gum의 생합성이 제한을 받게 된다. 본 연구에서는 교반속도를 변화시켜 가면서 회분식 및 유가식 배양을 하였으며 산소전달계수 측정실험을 하여 물질전달의 영향을 조사하였다. 미생물의 성장속도는 산소전달전달계수 변화에 대해 크게 영향을 받지 않았지만 xanthan gum의 생산속도는 산소전달계수값에 크게 의존하였다.

  • The objective of the present study were to measure the viscosities of non-Newtonian fluids by the transient flow concept in a capillary tube and to apply to hemodynamic studies and pump performance evaluations. The developed capillary tube viscometer could be used to measure the viscosities of the non-Newtonian fluids for a wide range of the shear rate by a run of experiment in a very short time interval. The measured viscosities of water and blood fur different shear rates were good agreement with those of the well established data. The measured viscosities for muddy water varied with the shear rates.

Blood Viscosity Measurements Using a Pressure-Scanning Capillary Viscometer

  • A previously designed capillary viscometer with measuring differential pressure was modified to measure the viscosity of non-Newtonian fluids including unadulterated blood continuously over numerous shear rates in a single measurement. Because of unavoidable experimental noise and a limited number of data, the previous capillary viscometer experienced an inaccuracy and could not directly determine a viscosity without an iterative calculation. However, in the present measurement there are numerous data available near the point of interest so that the numeric value of the derivative, d(In Q)/d(In Q$\sub$w/), is no longer sensitive to the method of differentiation. In addition, relatively low and wide shear rate viscosity measurements were possible because of the present precision pressure-scanning method with respect to time. For aqueous polymer solutions, excellent agreement was found between the results from the pressure-scanning capillary viscometer and those from a commercially available rotating viscometer. In addition, the pressure-scanning capillary viscometer measured the viscosity of unadulterated whole blood without adding any anticoagulants.

고하중과 고속 미끄럼 베어링 시스템의 경계윤활에 대한 연구 (Study on Boundary Lubrication in the Sliding Bearing System under High Load and Speed)

  • Many tribological components in automobile engine undergo high load and sliding speed with thin film thickness. The lubrication characteristics of the components are regarded as ether hydrodynamic lubrication or boundary lubrication, whereas in a working cycle they actually have both characteristics. Many modem engine lubricants have various additives for better performance which make boundary film formation even under hydrodynamic lubrication regime. Conventional Reynolds equation with the viewpoints of continuum mechanics concerns only bulk viscosity of lubricant, which means that its simulation does not give insights on boundary lubrication characteristics. However, many additives of modern engine lubricant provide mixed modes of boundary lubrication characteristics and hydrodynamic lubrication. Especially, high molecular weight polymeric viscosity index improvers form boundary film on the solid surface and cause non-Newtonian fluid effect of shear thinning. This study has performed the investigation about journal bearing system with the mixed concepts of boundary lubrication and hydrodynamic lubrication which happen concurrently in many engine components under the condition of viscosity index improver added.

협착관내 비뉴턴유체의 맥유동특성 (Pulsatile Flow characteristics of Non-Newtonian fluid in the Stenosed Tubes)

  • 본 논문에서는 협착이 발생된 원관내 뉴턴유체와 비뉴턴유체의 정상 및 맥동유동특 서을 유한요소법으로 해석하였다. 본연구는 맥동유동특성에서 협착관 형상의 변화, 협착이 주기적으로 발생된 협착관에서 협착부사이의 거리와 협착부의 수가유동특성에 미치는 영향 을 검토하였다. 레이놀즈수가 일정할 때 협착이 발생된 원형관내 뉴턴유체와 비뉴턴유체의 맥동유동특성은 정상유동의 경우와 크게 다르게 나타난다. 맥동유동에서는 정상유동보다 관 중앙부에서 속도분포가 훨씬 평탄하고 맥동유동의 속도분포는 감속시에 비하여 가속시에 관 중앙부의 속도분포가 더 평탄하게 나타난다. 정상유동과 맥동유동으 감속시에서는 협착부 하류의 벽면에서 재순환영역이 발생된다. 협착부의 수가 증가하면 각 협착부 주위의 속도장 은 유사하게 나타나지만 전체 압력손실은 크게 증가한다. 협착부사이의 거리가 변화될 경우 맥동유동속도의 국소최대치와 국소최소치의 차이가 가속시에는 거의 없지만 감속시에는 협 착부사이의 거리에 따라 다르게 나타난다.

  • An experimental investigation is carried out to study 2-phase vertically upward hydraulic transport of solid particles by water and non-Newtonian fluids in a slim hole concentric annulus with rotation of the inner cylinder. Rheology of particulate suspensions in viscoelastic fluids is of importance in many applications such as particle removal from surfaces, transport of proppants in fractured reservoir and cleaning of drilling holes, etc. In this study a clear acrylic pipe was used in order to observe the movement of solid particles. Annular fluid velocities varied from 0.2 m/s to 3.0 m/s. Pressure drops and average flow rate and particle rising velocity are measured. For both water and 0.2% CMC solutions, the higher the concentration of the solid particles is, the larger the pressure gradients become.

물-미립자 현탁액의 난류 열전달 향상에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study about Heat Transfer Enhancement of Water-Microparticles Suspension)

  • The present numerical study investigates heat transfer enhancement mechanism for suspensions of polystyrene particles in water. Numerical simulations were done for turbulent hydrodynamic fully developed flows in a circular duct with constant wall heat flux. The experimental result of microparticle suspensions show 25∼45% heat transfer enhancement over those of water. The present numerical results show the main parameter for the heat transfer enhancement of microparticle suspension in a circular duct is the change of velocity profile by the non-Newtonian fluid behavior.

레올로지 모델을 이용한 토석류 이동해석 (An Analysis of Debris Flow Movements Using Rheological Model)

  • 기존에 발생된 토석류 퇴적물에 대한 점도실험으로북터 세립질의 성질이 빙함 소성(Bingham plastic) 모델로 표현될 수 있다는 사실이 판명되었다. 이러한 사실과 비뉴톤유체의 흐름을 해석 할 수 있도록 개발된 수치해석 프로그램 Polyflow를 이용하여 토석류의 이동을 해석하였다. 그 결과 실제와 유사한 이동결과가 얻어졌으므로 토석류의 이동은 이와 같은 기법으로 해석할 수 있다는 것을 알게 되었다.
