채식인과 비채식 일반인의 혈중 지질, 혈당, 혈압에 관한 연구(III) -연령을 중심으로- (A Study of Serum Lipid, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure of Buddhist Nuns in Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians (III) - Based on Age -)

  • 우리나라에도 심혈관 질환으로 인한 사망률이 점차 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 채식과 심혈관 질환과기 관계를 규명하기 위한 연구의 일환으로 채식을 하는 비구니스님을 대상으로 하여 연구한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 조사대상자의 평균나이는 채식인 44.20세, 비채식인 40.52세, BMI는 각각 22.47, 21.08이었고, WHR은 0.85, 0.84였고, %BF는 28.79, 26.55였으며, 활동량은 각각 507.8 kg/day, 400.0kg/day였고, 채식인의 평균채식기간은 13.16년이었다. 조사대상자의 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤, AI, 이완기 혈압 및 혈당은 비채식인이 유의적으로(p<0.01) 높았고, HDL-콜레스테롤도 비채식인이 유의적으로(p<0.05) 높았으며 심 질환 예견지수인 HDL-콜레스테롤/총 콜레스테롤비는 채식인이 유의적으로(p<0.01) 높았다. 두군 모두 중성지방, 혈청 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤, AI는 WHR, BMI,% BF, 활동량과는 유의적으로 높은 정의상관 관계를 보였다(p<0.05, p<0.01). HDL-콜레스테롤은 BMI, WHR과는 유의한 부의 상관관계를 보였다. 수축기 혈압은 BMI, WHR과는 높은 정의 상관관계를 보였다(p<0.01). 나이는 채식인에서 중성지방과는 정의 상관관계(p<0.05), 비채식인에서는 중성지방 혈청 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤, AI, 수축기 혈압과는 정의 상관관계를 보였다. 두군 모두 연령 증가와 함께 중성지방, 혈청 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤, AI, 수축기혈압은 유의적으로 높아졌고 채식인은 비채식인에 비해 유의적으로 낮았다(p<0.01). 이완기 혈압, 혈당은 뚜렷한 경향을 보이지 않았으나 연령증가에 따라 증가하였다. 중성지방, 혈청 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤, AI, 수축기 혈압은 두군 모두 60대에 최고치를 나타내었고 70대에는 낮아지는 경향을 보였다. 따라서 혈청지질농도, 혈압은 연령 증가에 따라 유의하게 높아지고 채식인은 그 상승률이 비채식인에 비해 완만하게 증가하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이상의 결과에서 채식인은 심혈관 질환 관련인자인 혈청 총콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤, AI, 수축기혈압이 유의적으로 낮았다. 또한 나이가 듦에 따라 두군 모두 혈중지질 농도와 혈압이 높아지지만 채식군은 비채식군에 비해 상승률이 낮았다. 이로 미루어볼 때 채식은 가령과 함께 증가하는 심혈관 질환 관련인자의 상승률을 낮출 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 심혈관 질환의 예방과 치료에 효과가 있다고 볼 수 있다.

순기제습방(順氣除濕方)이 고지방식이(高脂肪食餌)로 유발된 비만(肥滿) 백서(白鼠)에 미치는 영향 (The inhibitory effects of Soongijeseub-bang(順氣除濕方) on the obese-mice caused by high-fat diet)

  • Objective : In order to investigate the effects of Soongijeseub-bang(here in after referred to SJB) on the obese gene and obese inhibitory, C57BL/6 mice were induced by high fat diet Methods : C57BL/6 mice were divided into three groups(normal, high fat diet with control, high fat diet with SJB extract) and fed for 15 weeks. And measured body weight change, the weight change of the adipocytes in body, the levels of ALT, AST, creatinine, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, NEFA(non-esterified fat acid), glucose in serum and the expression of ${\beta}3AR$, leptin, and TNF- ${\alpha}$ gene in primary adipocytes and adipocytes tissue. Results : The following results were obtained in this study. 1. SJB 500 mg/kg extract group showed significant decrease in final weight. 2. SJB 500 mg/kg extract group showed significant decrease in the amount of adipocyte in weight. 3. All experimental group showed significant decrease in ALT and AST levels. 4. All experimetal group did not show significant decrease in glucose and creatinine levels. 5. All experimental group showed significant decrease in total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and NEFA levels. HDL-cholesterol were increase significantly in SJB 500 mg/kg extract group. 6. SJB 500 mg/kg extract group showed significant decrease in leptin levels. 7. All experimental group showed significantly increased expressions of fJ 3AR in primary adipose cell and 3T3-Ll cell, and those of leptin in primary adipose cell and 3T3-Ll cell were decreased significantly. SJB $100{\mu}l/ml$ extract group showed significant decrease in the expression of TNF-${\alpha}$. 8. SJB 500 mg/kg extract group showed decrease in the size of adipocyte in adipocytes tissue. 9. All experimental group showed significant decrease in adipose vacuoles in liver tissue.

콜레스테롤 식이와 운동이 흰쥐의 체내 지질수준, 혈소판 응집 및 적혈구막 Na 유출에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Cholesterol Diet and Exercise on Plasma and Liver Lipids, Platelet Aggregation and Erythrocyte Na Efflux in Rats)

  • 본 실험은 콜레스테롤식이와 운동수행이란 두 조건을 심순환기 질환의 관련지표로서 혈장 및 간의 지질, 적혈구막의 Na efflux 그리고 혈소판 응집성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 조사하였다. 운동에 의해서 체중이 다소 감소하였지만 그렇게 크지는 않았다. 라드를 주 지방원으로 사용한 식이에 0.5% 콜레스테롤첨가는 혈중 콜레스테롤을 2배 이상, 간 콜레스테롤을 8배 이상 증가시켰고 HDL-콜레스테롤을 절반 이하로 떨어뜨렸는데, 특히 운동효과로 예상했던 HDL-콜레스테롤증가는 대조군식이나 콜레스테롤식이에서 나타나지 않았다. 혈중 중성지방은 콜레스테롤 식이군에서 오히려 감소하였고 간의 경우 지방 축척으로 인해 간의 크 기뿐만 아니라 간의 중성지방은 현저히 증가되었다. 체액량 조절 및 혈압과 관계에서 조사된 적혈구의 Na efflux는 Na-K ATPase가 콜레스테롤 식이에 의해 그 활성을 감소되었고 운동이 이를 다소 회복시키는 경향을 보였다. 혈압과의 상관성이 높다고 알려진 Na passive leak은 콜레스테롤과 운동이 각각 독립적으로 증가시키는 요인으로 작용하여 콜레스테롤-운동군이 대조군식이-비운동군에 비해 현저히 증가된 것으로 나타났다. 총 Na efflux는 실험군 간에 큰 차이가 없었고 intracellular Na와의 상관성도 보이질 않았다. 혈소판응집성에 있어서 콜레스테롤식이가 혈소판 응집을 증가시키고 특히 운동이 초기응집을 증가시키는 경향을 보였다. 혈장 GOT 및 GPT수치는 콜레스테롤식이로 인해 현저히 증가됨으로서 간의 병리적 상태를 잘 반영하였고 운동에 의해 감소됨으로서 운동수행이 술이나 고지방식으로 인한 지방간을 호전시켜 줄 수 있으리라 기대할 수 있다. 고지혈증이나 고혈압 환자에 있어서 비약물적 요법으로 식이나 운동을 통한 치료나 예방의 가능성을 규명하기 위한 실험의 결과로서 특히 운동에 대해 일관되고 가시적인 효과가 미흡한 것은 6주간의 짧은 실험기간을 생각할 수 있는데 혈청 지질, Na flux 및 체액, 혈소판 응집성 등 심순환기 질환의 예방에 도움이 되는 운동의 형태나 강도 혹은 지속 기간에 대한 더 많은 연구가 필요하리라 생각된다.

Vitamin D Effect on Ultrasonography and Laboratory Indices and Biochemical Indicators in the Blood: an Interventional Study on 12 to 18-Year-Old Children with Fatty Liver

  • Purpose: The rising prevalence of childhood obesity in the past decades has caused non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to become the most common cause of pediatric chronic liver disease worldwide. This study was aimed at determining the effect of vitamin D (Vit D) on ultrasonography and laboratory indices of NAFLD and some blood biochemical indicators in children. Methods: In this interventional study liver ultrasonography was performed in 200 children with overweight and obesity. A 108 had fatty liver among which 101 were randomly divided into two groups of study (n=51) and control (n=50). The study group was treated with Vit D, 50000 U once a week whereas the control group received placebo with the same dose and package, both for 12 weeks. At the end of the intervention lab tests and ultrasound study was performed once again to evaluate the response to treatment. Results: It was found out that Vit D supplementation improved the fatty liver grade in the study group. The mean changes in hemoglobin (Hb), uric acid, highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), insulin, albumin and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was significantly higher in the study group compared to controls (p<0.05). After the intervention and means adjustment, a significant difference was obtained in HDL-C, insulin, LDL-C and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) between the two groups. Conclusion: Vit D supplementation in addition to improving the fatty liver grade in ultrasonography and increasing the blood Vit D level, increases the HDL and Hb level besides decreasing uric acid, LDL, HOMA-IR, insulin and ALT levels.

Lamotrigine Decreased Hippocampal Damage and Improved Vascular Risk Markers in a Rat Model of Pentylenetetrazole Induced Kindling Seizure

  • Various antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) especially enzyme-inducing AEDs might be associated with increased vascular risk, through impairment of the endogenous antioxidative ability which may trigger oxygen-dependent tissue injury. Lamotrigine (LTG) a non-enzyme-inducing AED has scarce information regarding its effects on oxidative stress. The present study aimed to study the possible modulation of vascular risk factors of epileptogenesis by LTG, in a rat model of kindling seizure induced by pentylenetetrazole (PTZ). Four groups of male Wister rats were used; vehicle control group, PTZ group (alternate day PTZ, 30 mg/kg, i.p), LTG/PTZ group (LTG 20 mg/kg/day p.o and alternate day PTZ) and LTG group. The study period was 5 weeks. Lipoproteins and total homocysteine (tHcy), malondialdehyde (MDA) and reduced glutathione (GSH) were measured. Aortic endothelial function study and histopathological examination of the rats' brains, aortas and coronaries were conducted. Serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), tHcy, MDA, GSH levels were significantly higher in epileptic rats than normal controls rats. A decrease in HDL-cholesterol with high atherosclerotic index was also demonstrated. The administration of LTG improved the PTZ-kindled seizures. It produced a significant decrease in TC, TG and LDL-cholesterol, MDA, aortic GSH and increase in HDL-cholesterol with no significant effect on serum GSH and tHcy levels. LTG improved endothelium-dependent relaxation, decreased hippocampal neurodegenerative changes and atherosclerotic changes of aortas and coronaries. LTG decreased seizures severity, hippocampal damage and improved vascular risk markers in this rat model of kindling seizures.

운동과 칼슘 섭취량이 폐경 여성의 혈압과 혈중 지질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Exercise and Calcium Intake on Blood Pressure and Blood Lipids in Postmenopausal Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm that regular physical exercise habit and calcium intake play a role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, particularly to confirm that regular exercise is important in reducing serum lipid levels in postmenopausal women. Subjects were classified into regular exercise group(more than 3 times/wk, more than 30 min per exercise) and non-regular exercise group. A convenient frequency method was used to assess the nutritional intake of subjects. Anthropometric measurement such as body weight and height, and blood pressure were measured. There was no significant difference between non-regular exercise group and regular exercise group in energy intake and calcium intake. The total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol concentrations in non-regular exercise group were significantly higher than those in regular exercise group. There were no significant correlations between age or weight with blood lipids and blood pressure in regular exercise group, while there were significant positive correlations between age or weight with blood lipids and blood pressure in non-regular exercise group. The levels of serum cholesterol, triglyceride, blood pressure and atherogenic index increased with age in non-regular exercise women. The blood pressure in low total Ca intake/plant Ca intake ratio group was significantly higher than that in high total Ca intake/plant Ca intake ratio group. There was a highly significant positive correlation between Ca intake and HDL-cholesterol in non-regular exercise women. And, there was a highly significant negative correlation between Ca intake and blood pressure in regular exercise women. The results suggest that increased habitual physical activity and calcium intake should be recommended by way of decreasing blood lipids and blood pressure in postmenopausal women. 군부대 내 부적응 병사에서 충동성과 혈청 지질과의 상관성 (The Relationship between Serum Cholesterol and Impulsiveness in the Division of the Republic of Korean Army)

  • Objective : Previous studies reported a correlation between the low serum cholesterol level and impulsive behaviors. In this study, we investigate an association between the serum lipid levels and psychological parameters in maladaptive soldiers in the Korean Army. Methods : A total of ninety-six maladaptive subjects and thirty-six normal controls in the Korean army were evaluated with the Korean version of Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (K-BIS), Korean version of Beck Suicidal Ideation Scale (K- BSIS), Korean version of Beck Depression Inventory (K-BDI) and Korean version of Beck Anxiety Inventory (K-BAI). Serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) level were measured by overnight fasting blood sampling. Results : There were no significant differences between the groups in demographic characteristics. Serum total cholesterol levels (t=-2.209, p=0.032), triglyceride levels (t=-4.593, p<0.001), and LDL levels (t=-3.753, p=0.001) of maladaptive subjects were significantly lower than those of normal controls, and maladaptive subjects had higher K-BIS scores than normal controls (t=7.542, p<0.001). Negative correlation was found between LDL levels and non-planning impulsiveness in the maladaptive subjects (r=-0.253, p=0.013). LDL levels (${\beta}=-0.258$, p=0.008) and K-BDI scores (${\beta}=0.266$, p=0.043) emerged as significant predictors for non-planning impulsiveness. Conclusion : These results suggested that LDL level was associated with non-planning impulsiveness. These findings suggested that serum cholesterol levels might be available as a biological marker of impulsiveness. However, more large samples, longitudinal biological study and psychiatric evaluations should be needed to develop a preventive intervention for maladaptive male conscripts in the Korean army.

청소년의 근감소성 비만과 비근감소성 비만이 대사증후군 구성요소에 미치는 영향 (Influences of Sarcopenic and Non-sarcopenic Obesity on the Components of Metabolic Syndrome in Adolescents)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of sarcopenic and non-sarcopenic obesity on the components of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) in adolescents. Methods: This study used the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2010 to 2011. The study included 859 adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. Descriptive statistics and simple and multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted using SAS 9.2. Results: Based on the results, adolescents with sarcopenic obesity had a higher risk of central obesity (AOR: 23.41, 95% CI: 12.76-43.97), high triglyceride (OR: 4.58, 95% CI: 2.69-7.79), low HDL-cholesterol (AOR: 2.66, 95% CI: 1.74-4.05), high blood pressure (AOR: 3.44, 95% CI: 1.37-8.68), and high fasting glucose (AOR: 2.37, 95% CI: 1.13-4.96) than their normal counterparts. Adolescents with non-sarcopenic obesity had a higher risk of central obesity (AOR: 19.75, 95% CI: 9.73-44.67), high triglyceride (OR: 3.09, 95% CI: 1.22-7.81), and low HDL-cholesterol (AOR: 2.73, 95% CI: 1.37-5.45) than normal youths, and these were not significantly related to high blood pressure and fasting glucose. Conclusion: Sarcopenic obesity was more related to the components of MetS than non-sarcopenic obesity. Since adolescents with sarcopenic obesity are a more vulnerable population, a prevention and management program for MetS and cardiovascular risk should be implemented in this population.

흡연과 Carotenoid 함유 식품 섭취빈도에 따른 지질과산화 및 항산화능 비교 (Effect of Smoking and Carotenoid-rich Food Consumption on Lipid Peroxidation and Antioxidant Status)

  • This study was performed to determine the effect of carotenoid-rich food consumption and smoking on the lipid peroxidation and antioxidant status in human. The subjects consisted of the health 210 middle-aged adults who visited health care center in the Inha University hospital. The blood and urine samples of the subjects were taken to analyze serum lipid profiles, plasma TBARS, total antioxidant status (TAS) and urinary 8-isoprostanes concentration. The anthropometric indices of the subjects were measured. The nutritional intake and the frequency of carotenoid-rich food consumption was determined by semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire survey. HDL-cholesterol level of the smoking subjects was significantly lower than that of the non-smoking subjects in men. In the analysis of the carotenoid-rich food consumption, the frequency of pepper and tomato consumption of the non-smoking subjects was significantly higher than that of the smoking subjects in men. In women, the Sequency of pear and peach consumption of the non-smoking subjects was significantly higher than that of the smoking subjects. HDL-cholesterol level of the high carotenoid rich food consumption group was significantly higher than that of medium and low group in women. TAS of the high carotenoid rich food consumption group was significantly higher than that of medium and low group. In conclusion, carotenoid intakes seemed to be effective to reduce lipid peroxidation and increase antioxidant status in the body. The frequency of the carotenoid-rich food consumption seemed to be lower in the smokers than in the non-smokers. However, further researches consisted of large-scaled and randomized clinical trials are required to determine whether carotenoids have any other beneficial effect in human. 중풍 환자의 습담 설진과 고지혈증의 연관성에 관한 연구 (The Study on Relationship of Dampness-Phlegm Tongue Diagnosis to hyperlipidemia in Stroke Patients)

  • Objectives : This study was aimed to clarify the relationship between the tongue diagnosis of dampness-phlegm and hyperlipidemia in acute stroke patients. Methods : We analyzed the data of 1405 patients with acute stroke in 10 oriental medical hospitals from November 2006 to December 2008. We classified patients into two groups, dampness-phlegm and non dampness-phlegm by tongue diagnosis such as the white coating of the tongue, thick coating of the tongue, swollen tongue and teeth printed tongue which is oriental medical diagnosis. And We analyzed their characteristics with type of stroke and lipid blood level. Results : 1. There was no significant difference of stroke type between the dampness-phlegm tongue diagnosis group and the non dampness-phlegm tongue diagnosis group. 2. The ratio of SVO was higher in dampness-phlegm tongue diagnosis group (76.06%) than the non dampness-phlegm tongue diagnosis group (61.26%). 3. According to the blood test, the dampness-phlegm tongue diagnosis group showed higher in total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglyceride than the control group. 4. Total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol were significant higher in dampness-phlegm tongue diagnosis than the control group. Conclusion : According to the analysis, the relationship between the tongue diagnosis of dampness-phlegm and hyperlipidemia in acute stroke patients were more clarified. Based on these results, more prospective studies are to be done with more clinical data.
