  • Speed-up and mass reduction of EMU(Electrical multiple unit) causes increase of interior noise. One of the best ways to reduce the interior noise is to identify noise sources. In this study, we evaluated interior noise by contribution analysis. This method is to predict the interior noise contribution of carbody by using transfer function between acceleration and sound pressure. The plan of the interior noise reduction based on the test results was also presented.

  • This paper deals with the noise evaluation technique of a reciprocating air-compressor and its noise reduction. The reciprocating air-compressors are widely used in the small, medium sized industrial firms, and lots of their employees are affected and irritated by their noise in the workplace. Thus, noise control actions should be taken appropriately by considering the hearing loss due to the occupational noise exposure. Lead-wrapping techniques are employed to identify the contribution of principal noise sources which are generally known as motor, belts, suction/discharge valves, moving pistons, and flow-induced noise caused by edges or discontinuities along the flow path e.g. expansions, contractions, junctions and bends etc .. As a result, main noise sources of the air-compressor can be categorized by the suction/discharge noise, valve noise, and compressed-air tank noise. Based on the investigations, mufflers are designed to reduce both the suction/discharge noise and the compressed-air tank noise. Instead of the conventional valve plate, polyethylene resin is used as a new one for the reduction of valve impact noise. In addition, attempts are made to reduce the valve noise propagation to the cylinder head and the compressor tank by using the insulation casings. As a result of the countermeasure plans, it can be achieved that the noise reduction of the air-compress is up to 10dB.

음질을 고려한 환경소음 평가 인자의 기여도분석에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Sound Quality Characteristics for Environmental Noise Assessments Parameters)

  • 소음에 대한 인간의 심리적 인지는 소음의 여러 가지 물리적 요인에 의하여 영향을 받는다. 그러나 현재의 환경소음 평가는 A 가중치 등가 소음 수준을 기준으로 평가되고 있으며 인간의 다양한 감성적 요인을 반영하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 환경소음 평가를 위하여 환경소음원 43개에 대하여 주관평가와 통계적 분석방법을 사용하여 인간의 감성에 영향을 주는 음질인자 (Sound quality factor)를 분석하였다. 분석방법은 먼저 다양한 환경소음원에 대한 음질물리량 (Sound quality metrics)을 분석하여 음원을 분류하였으며 분류된 음원의 주된 음질 물리량을 고찰하였다. 그리고 쌍대비교법 (Paired comparisons method)과 어의분별척도법 (Semantic differential method)을 사용하여 주관 평가를 실시하고 음질의 요인을 분석하였으며 물리량과의 관계를 규명하였다. 마지막으로 요인에 대한 물리량의 기여도를 분석함으로써 환경소음의 감성적 인지에 대한 기초 물리량을 설정하였다.

음향학적으로 밝은 공간 형성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Generation of Acoustically Bright Zone)

  • This paper deals with a method to generate an acoustically bright zone that has a higher acoustic potential energ than the others. The acoustically bright zone can be generated by optimally excited multiple sources. A method to determine the volume velocity distribution of the sources was presented in this paper. For different applicative purpose, two kinds of cost functions are defined and through the eigenvalue analysis the optimal solution is obtained.

냉장고 내 냉기순환용 축류홴에 의한 내부 블레이드-통과-주파수 소음 예측 (Computation of Internal BPF Noise of Axial Circulating Fan in Refrigerators)

  • Internal aeroacoustics of an axial fan used for circulating cold air in refrigerators are computed by using the hybrid method where CFD, acoustic analogy and BEM techniques are utilized. The unsteady flow field around the axial fan is predicted by solving the incompressible RANS equations with the conventional CFD techniques. Then, main noise sources are extracted from this unsteady flow field predictions using Acoustic Analogy. Lastly, BPF noise generated from an axial fan are predicted using these modeled sources combined with the tailed Green function techniques, which are numerically solved by the BEM technique. This hybrid model is validated by comparing the prediction with the experiment. Then, parameter studies are carried out, which suggest a capability of the current method as a design tool for the low-noise of the current axial fan system in a refrigerator.

PAK system 을 이용한 의료용 컴프레서의 진동.소음 전달경로 해석 (Transfer Path Analysis of vibration and noise for medical air compressor using PAK system)

  • As performance of medical air compressor improve, the problem of noise increased. Noise is very important to medical air compressor because most of this installed inside of building. The main goal of this paper is show TPA (Transfer Path Analysis) result for contribution analysis using PAK system. Generally, the conventional TPA method consists of two steps. First, transfer functions between output sound and sources are measured by excitation experiment. Second, transferred sound in each transfer path is generated by multiplying the transfer function and the sound source signal. Then, if the output sound synthesized from all transferred sounds doesn't give good agreement with the measured output sound (i.e., the accuracies of the transfer functions are low), setting a suitable countermeasure guideline becomes difficult. For obtaining highly accurate transfer functions, eliminating correlations among transfer functions and noise included in the measured data are necessary. In the new method with PAK system, the vibration acceleration and sound signals around the sound sources and the output sound were measured simultaneously to obtain the transfer functions when compressor was operating. By applying PAK system, a highly accurate and efficient transfer path analysis method was developed that does not require an excitation experiment.

구 주위의 유동으로 인해 발생하는 유동 소음의 특성 (Characteristics of Flow-Induced Noise around a Sphere)

  • Flow-induced noise propagated from flow over a sphere is numerically investigated for laminar flow at Re = 300 and 425, and for turbulent flow at Re = 3700 and $10^4$, where the Reynolds number is based on the freestream velocity and the sphere diameter. The numerical method used for obtaining the flow over a sphere is based on an immersed boundary method in a cylindrical coordinate system. The Curle’s solutions of the Lighthill’s acoustic analogy with and without the far-field and compact-source approximation are used in order to investigate the noise field from flow over a sphere. Since the drag and lift forces change irregularly in time at Re = 425, 3700 and $10^{4}$, the noise propagates in a complicated manner. At Re = 300, 425 and $10^{4}$, the noise from dipole sources is much larger than that from quadrupole sources. On the other hand, at Re = 3700, the quadrupole source becomes dominant. The temporal variation of the flow-induced noise around a sphere is obtained at some observation points, which shows that the peak frequency corresponds to the Strouhal number associated with the wake instability.

  • When the lateral dimensions of a duct is larger than or comparable to the wavelengths of Interest, higher order modes propagate in the duct. These modes will be radiated and produce noise. A number of sensors and actuators for control of radiating noise from the duct have to be incorporated with the number of modes which one wants to control. These considerations motivated the present study that considers a control system which has less microphones and control sources than required. In this work, by theoretical analysis, the control performance of such a kind of system is investigated in terms of sound-field variables and control system variables. The possible maximum and minimum value. mean and variance of residual acoustic potential energy are derived for the set of primary sound fields.

유한요소법에 의한엔진 구조소음 해석 (An Engine Structure-Borne Noise Analysis by Finite Element Method)

  • This paper presents the static analysis, the modal analysis and the forced vibration analysis on engine structures to find out the structure-borne noise sources by finite element method. The deformation of engine structures under the maximum combu- stion gas force was calculated through the static analysis, and the resonance possibilities were predicted by the modal analysis which ascertains mode shapes and the corresponding frequencies of engine global and its major noise sources in engine surfaces were investigated with the forced vibration analysis by means of finding the transfer mobilities on engine surfaces due to the piston impact and the velocity levels due to the combustion in consideration of oil film stiffness and damping coefficients. Finally, the direction of engine structure-borne noise reduction can be estabilished by the above-mentioned analysis procedure and the reduction effect of cost on proto-type engine build-up is expected.

능동 가진을 이용한 원형 제트에서의 유동 소음 제어 (Control of Flow-Induced Noise from a Round Jet using Active Excitation)

  • The objective of the present study is to investigate the changes in the acoustic source characteristics and far-field noise propagation in an incompressible round jet at Re=10000 for single-frequency excitations using large eddy simulation and Lighthill acoustic analogy. We apply excitations at a frequency corresponding to the jet-column mode ($St_{D}=0.85$) or maximum growth rate in the shear layer ( $St_{\theta}=0.017$ ). The acoustic source derived from the Lighthill acoustic analogy is the second spatial derivative of the Reynolds stresses. In the case of $St_{D}=0.85$, vortex ring and large scale structures are dominant sources, whereas in the case of $St_{\theta}=0.017$, the main sources are located at an upstream position along the shear layer than in the uncontrolled case. Also, the far-field noise propagates along the axial direction due to excitation.
