  • DTV field tests have been performed to measure field strength and to check reception ratio on indoor and outdoor sites. They use an antenna of 9m to measure DTV signal in case of outdoor measurement on the road. Modern skyscrapers require the analysis of vertical-directional wave propagation by measuring vertical-directional DTV signal. Even if the field strength is above the reception threshold of $43dB{\mu}V/m$, the reception is impossible in case of strong multi-path or high impulse noise. So, vertical-directional field measurement is essential in environment of tall buildings. In this paper, we developed an octo type multi-copter to measure vertical-directional DTV signal level. A compact and portable DTV signal level meter, an antenna, a microwave transmitter for data transmission, and a recording equipment are equipped in the multi-copter. Three different sites are selected to test the measurement system. Developed measurement system using the multi-copter is very useful in measuring vertical-directional DTV signal, especially in apartments, non-accessible area by vehicles, and forbidden areas.

  • The remote control mobile robot is the robot accomplishing a task according to the orders giving by a user through departed communication system using a joystick. Basically, to supply a lot of information, as this type of robot uses visual information, the user can check the transmitted information by eyes and give orders to the robot. But the weak point of this type of robot is that it has a possibility to come into a collision with an obstacle not be seen to the user because of the communication delay occurring in a communication system and dead zone happening in visual information. To solve the problem, in this paper, we try to suggest a system applying a fuzzy control system to the robot to avoid collision with an obstacle by an immediate order of the user. The fuzzy control system has better performance than any other existing control methods in the change of noise and parameter. And it is more efficient than any other since it solves easy the complexity of the system analysis occurring because of the nonlinear feature of the mobile robot system. In this paper, we made experiments how the mobile robot controlled by the fuzzy control system avoids an obstacle, tracks the path and avoids the obstacle in the path, to prove the performance and to check the evaluation and the application possibility of the fuzzy control system.

  • Recently, to utilize the limited bandwidth effectively, the concept of partial response (PR) signaling has widely been adopted in both the high-speed data transmission and high-density digital recording/playback systems such as digital microwave, digital subscriber loops, hard disk drives, digital VCR's and digital versatile recordable disks and so on. This paper is concerned with adaptive equalization of partial response channels particularly for the magnetic recording channels. Specifically we study how the PR channel equalizers work for different choices of desired or reference signals used for adjusting the equalizer weights. In doing so, we consider three different configurations that are actually implemented in the commercial products mentioned above. First of all, we show how to compute the theoretical values of the optimum Wiener solutions derived by minimizing the mean-squared error (MSE) at the equalizer output. Noting that this equalizer MSE measure cannot be used to fairly compare the three configurations, we propose to use the data MSE that is computer just before the final detector for the underlying PR system. We also express the data MSE in terms of the channel impulse response values, source data power and additive noise power, thereby making it possible to compare the performance of the configurations under study. The results of extensive computer simulation indicate that our theoretical derivation is correct with high precision. Comparing the three configurations, it also turns out that one of the three configurations needs to be further improved in performance although it has an apparent advantage over the others in terms of memory size when implemented using RAM's for the decision feedback part.

  • In this paper, we consider a heterogeneous network (HetNet) consisting of one macro base station and multiple small base stations, and assume the coordinated multi-point transmission between the base stations. In addition, we assume that the channel between the base station and the user consists of path loss and Rayleigh fading. Under these assumptions, we present the energy efficiency (EE) achievable by the user for a given base station and we formulate an optimization problem of dynamic cell selection and transmit power allocation to maximize the total EE of the HetNet. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised deep learning method to solve the optimization problem. The proposed deep learning-based scheme can provide high EE while having low complexity compared to the conventional iterative convergence methods. Through the simulation, we show that the proposed dynamic cell selection scheme provides higher EE performance than the maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio scheme and the Lagrangian dual decomposition scheme, and the proposed transmit power allocation scheme provides the similar performance to the trust region interior point method which can achieve the maximum EE.
