와동과 상호작용하는 화염편에서의 오염물질 생성특성 (Pollutant Formation Characteristics in a Flamelet Interacting with a Vortex)

  • Flame structure of diffusion flame interacting with a single vortex was investigated with direct numerical simulation (DNS). A well-known counterflow diffusion flame was used as an initial flat flame and single vortices were made by issuing a high-velocity jet abruptly in fuel- and air-side. The variations in the maximum concentration of major species (CO and $CO_2$) and NOx (NO and $NO_2$) with the stoichiometric scalar dissipation rate were investigated. Unsteady effects in the species concentration variation of the flame interacting with a vortex were identified by comparing with that of steady flame. $NO_2$ formation characteristics of the flame interacting with a vortex were well understood by investigating the $HO_2$ formation. To enhance the prediction performance in the fire simulation, current turbulent combustion modelings are needed to be modified by adopting the unsteady effects in the species concentrations of diffusion flame interacting with a vortex.

  • HANJUNG has developed demonstration plant treating combustion flue gas such as dioxide($SO_2$) and nitrogen oxides(NOx). Before operating this system, we tested the inner airflow characteristic of demonstration plant in the front of plasma reactor field 1 and field 2. The experimental results of $25,000Nm^3/hr$ airflow are compared with the computational results using FLUENT code. It is found that the velocity distribution trends are matched the experimental results with the calculation results. To improve the eccentric airflow in the inlet hood, it is necessary to install the vertical guide vane as well as the horizontal guide vane.

매연저감을 위한 천연가스 Dual-Fuel 엔진의 시내버스 적용평가 (The Evaluation on Smoke Reduction by Natural Gas Dual Fuel Engine for City Bus)

  • CNG dual fuel engine for heavy duty diesel engine developed by AFS International in Canada has been equipped to a Korean city bus engine and tested to compare the engine performance and the emission characteristics with the existing diesel fueled engine. Also the dual-fuel engine was applied to the city bus for road test. The results are summarized as follows. Performance optimization has been carried out to have engine power equivalent to or better than the diesel fueled engine. Smoke is decreased by 85% by Korean smoke 3 mode test. By 13 mode test CO is increased by 453% and THC is increased by 2, 086%. NOx is decreased by 7% in laboratory. D-13 test mode was changed in 1996 Korean regulation. Even though THC is increased very much, it's not too serious problem since CO and HC emission of diesel engine is very little compared to gasoline engine and more than 75% of THC is CH$_4$. But the reduction technologies of CO and HC has to be considered.

  • 본 연구는 서울 대도시에 있어서 자동차에서 배출되는 질소산화물(NOx)의 대기오염 삭감 효과를 평가하기 위한 토지이용 Appraisal Model을 설계하는 연구이다, 더우기 대도시 교통량을 예측하는데 사용된 Model과 실제 교통량 data와 비교함으로써 그 타당성이 확인되었다. 또한 본 연구에서 구축한 토지이용 Model로 서울특별시의 대기 오염 삭감효과를 분석하였다.

  • A catalytic burner has been developed to utilize thermal energy from the fossil fuel without nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission. The burner is shaped into a mat to maximize the heating surface. Premixed combustion has been developed to be used in a closed chamber, such as a radiation type industrial dryer. The burner yields the thermal energy in the form of thermal radiation in the infrared regime, which is proved to be effective to dry organic substances for low moisture condition. Thermal efficiency including the sensible heat is better correlated to the moisture compared to the dry rate.

공동주택 보일러 연소배기가스의 실내유입에 관한 수치적 연구 (A Numerical Study on Flow around Exhaust Ducts of Flue Gas from Apartment Heating Boiler)

  • Flue gas from apartment heating gas boiler is exhausted outside through an exhaust duct mounted horizontally in a vertical row on the wall. The flue gas includes nitrogen-oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide. To investigate the possible entrainment of the flue gas into the apartments through the windows, a large eddy simulation (LES) based numerical method is utilized. Distribution of the velocity intensity and temperature around the exhaust ducts is presented for three numerical parameters: exhaust velocity, temperature of the flue gas, and exhaust duct length. The flow field visualized with particles inserted at the ends of the ducts is also presented. The results clearly show that the exhausted flue gas may flow into the apartments when the windows are open.

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the optimal ejector and operating condition of vessel incinerator. Exhaust gas temperature and secondary air which makes vacuum pressure at ejector throat regions were considered as an important factor. According to the measurement of pressure temperature and nitrogen oxides between non combustion and combustion we found the stream and exhaust gas characteristics of incinerator. This results can give us the exhaust gas temperature control system air pollutant reduction method and the optimum ejector design.

일체형 PM/NOx 동시저감장치의 최적 설계에 대한 기초 연구 (A Basis Study on the Optimal Design of the Integrated PM/NOx Reduction Device)

  • 대기오염물질과 온실가스 배출량을 저감 시키기 위한 배기 후처리 장치에 대한 연구는 활발히 진행 중이지만 그 중 선박용 입자상물질/질소산화물(PM/NOx) 동시저감 장치에서는 엔진에 미치는 배압 및 필터 담체 교체에 대한 문제가 발생하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 PM/NOx를 동시저감 할 수 있는 일체형 장치의 최적 설계를 위해 장치 내부 유동과 입·출구 압력을 통한 배압의 변화를 연구하여 적절한 기준을 제시하였다. Ansys Fluent를 활용하여 디젤미립자필터(DPF) 및 선택적촉매환원법(SCR)에 다공성 매체 조건을 적용하였고 공극률은 30 %, 40 %, 50 %, 60 % 및 70 %로 설정하였다. 또한, 엔진 부하에 따른 Inlet 속도를 경계 조건으로 7.4 m/s, 10.3 m/s, 13.1 m/s 및 26.2 m/s로 적용하여 배압에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. CFD 분석 결과, 장치의 입구 온도 보다 입구 속도에 따른 배압의 변화율이 크고 최대 변화율은 27.4 mbar였다. 그리고 모든 경계 조건에서의 배압이 선급 기준인 68 mbar를 초과하지 않았기 때문에 1800 kW 선박에 적합한 장치로 평가되었다.

냉각수 및 전기 가열 방식에 따른 요소수 해동 특성에 관한 수치해석 연구 (Numerical Investigation on the Urea Melting Characteristics with Coolant and Electric Heaters)

  • 환원제를 이용하여 배기가스 내의 NOx를 질소로 환원시키는 요소수 SCR 시스템은 다른 후처리 장치들 중에서 가장 효율적인 장치로 알려져 있다. 차량에 적용되는 SCR 장치는 32.5wt%의 공융혼합물을 이용한다. 이러한 혼합물의 가장 큰 장점 중의 하나는 $-11.7^{\circ}C$에서 얼기 때문에 추운 환경에서 응고를 피할 수 있다는 것이다. 한편, 이러한 추운 환경에서 시동시 필요한 수용액을 충분히 공급하기 위해서는 고체상을 가열해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Fluent 상용코드를 이용하여 3차원 비정상 전산해석을 통한 냉각수 및 전기가열 방식에 따른 고체상 요소수의 시간에 따른 액상비 및 온도분포와 같은 해동 및 열전달 특성을 고찰하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 전기히터 가열 방식이 냉각수 방식보다 효율적임을 확인하였다.

분사기 형상 변경을 통한 저온 디젤 연소의 배기 배출물 저감 (Reduction of Exhaust Emissions Using Various Injector Configurations in Low Temperature Diesel Combustion)

  • Low temperature combustion is one of the advanced combustion technology in an internal combustion engine to reduce soot and nitrogen oxides simultaneously. In present experiment three kinds of injector were used to investigate the influence of injection angle and number of nozzle holes on the low temperature combustion in a heavy duty diesel engine. Low temperature diesel combustion is realized from the exhaust gas recirculation rate of 60%. Indicated mean effective pressure of low temperature combustion corresponds to the 70% level of conventional diesel engine combustion. Reduction of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide, which are produced in low temperature combustion because of the low combustion temperature and a deficit of oxygen, was achieved by using various injector configuration. The result of experiment with $100^{\circ}$ injection angle and 8 holes showed that reductions in hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide could be achieved 58% and 27% respectively maintaining the 7% increased indicated mean effective pressure in low temperature diesel combustion compared with conventional injector.
