니켈기 초내열합금 PTA용접부의 고온균열감수성과 고온연성거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Relationship between Hot Ductility Behavior and Hot Cracking Susceptibility in PTA Weld of Ni-based Superalloy)

  • In general, nickel-base superalloy has been extensively used as land-based gas turbine blades and vanes. Plasma transferred arc welding(PTAW) has been considered as a repair welding process of nickel-base superalloy. This research evaluated the relationship between hot ductility behavior and hot cracking susceptibility in nickel-base superalloys. Ductility recovery rate of nickel base superalloys was found to be poor due to incipient melting and constitutional liquation. This seems to increase the hot cracking susceptibility.

Thermal Analysis of Silicon Carbide Coating on a Nickel based Superalloy Substrate and Thickness Measurement of Top Layers by Lock-in Infrared Thermography

  • In this paper, we investigate the capacity of the lock-in infrared thermography technique for the evaluation of non-uniform top layers of a silicon carbide coating with a nickel based superalloy sample. The method utilized a multilayer heat transfer model to analyze the surface temperature response. The modelling of the sample was done in ANSYS. The sample consists of three layers, namely, the metal substrate, bond coat and top coat. A sinusoidal heating at different excitation frequencies was imposed upon the top layer of the sample according to the experimental procedures. The thermal response of the excited surface was recorded, and the phase angle image was computed by Fourier transform using the image processing software, MATLAB and Thermofit Pro. The correlation between the coating thickness and phase angle was established for each excitation frequency. The most appropriate excitation frequency was found to be 0.05 Hz. The method demonstrated potential in the evaluation of coating thickness and it was successfully applied to measure the non-uniform top layers ranging from 0.05 mm to 1 mm with an accuracy of 0.000002 mm to 0.045 mm.

항공기 터빈 디스크용 니켈기 초내열 분말야금 합금의 고온 피로균열진전 거동 비교 평가 (Evaluation of Fatigue Crack Propagation Behavior of Nickel-based Powder Metallurgy Superalloy for Aircraft at Elevated Temperature)

  • 항공기 터빈 디스크에 사용될 수 있는 니켈기 초내열 분말야금 합금의 피로균열진전 거동이 실제운전 환경을 고려하여 상온 및 $650^{\circ}C$에서 연구되었다. ASTM E647에서 제시하는 직류전위차법을 이용하여 실시간으로 균열의 진전을 측정하였다. 또한 피로균열진전 시험은 응력비 0.1과 0.5의 두가지 조건에서 수행되었다. 시험결과들은 응력비와 온도 조건 모두 피로균열진전 거동에 영향이 있음을 보여주었으며, 응력비와 온도가 증가함에 따라, 니켈기 초내열 분말 야금 합금의 피로균열성장 속도는 증가하게 관찰되었다. 본 연구에서 사용된 니켈기 초내열 분말 야금 합금은 현재 개발 중인 소재로써 보다 정량적인 시험결과의 분석을 위해, 본 연구의 피로균열진전 시험결과와 기존에 연구된 Inconel-100 소재의 피로균열진전거동에 대한 상호 비교분석이 수행되었다. 피로균열진전 파단면의 분석은 SEM 촬영을 통하여 수행하였다.

  • 분말야금 니켈기 초내열합금은 항공기 터빈 엔진의 고온용 부품으로 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 상온, $600^{\circ}C$$700^{\circ}C$에서 CT시편을 이용하여 피로균열진전거동이 평가되었다. ASTM E647에서 제시한 직류전위차법이 피로균열진전 동안에 균열 길이를 측정하기 위하여 사용되었다. 응력비 0.5에서 피로균열진전속도는 응력비 0.1에서와 비교하여 더 빠르게 나타났다. 피로균열진전속도는 응력비와 온도의 증가와 함께 증가하였다. 파단면 관찰은 파괴메커니즘 분석을 위해 수행하였다.

  • Transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding is essential technology to repair micro-cracking on the airfoil of blades and vanes for gas turbines. Understanding of the characteristics of TLP bonding of the superalloys is necessary in the application of the technology for repairing these components. In this study, the focus was on investigating TLP bonding characteristics of ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ precipitation strengthened Ni based superalloy. TLP bonding was carried out with an amorphous filler metal in various bonding conditions, and the microstructural characterization was investigated through optical microscopy (OM) and electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA). The experimantal results explained clearly that bonding temperatures had critical effects on the TLP bonding behaviors, and that isothermal solidication of the joints made at higher temperatures than $1170^{\circ}C$ was controlled by Ti diffusion instead of B.

  • Hot gas path components, which are made of nickel based superalloys, are subject to periodic replacement due to degradation of thermomechanical properties that might bring catastrophic failure during normal operation of gas turbine units. In order to rejuvenate the metallurgical condition of the serviced components, heat treating techniques such as solution annealing and aging heat treatments have widely been employed. However, the effectiveness of those typical heat treatments is not apparent enough in terms of quantitative grounds. On the other hand the demand of the rejuvenation heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) have constantly been raised by the end users. Therefore it is necessary to verify how the typical heat treating techniques affect to the aged and degraded material. As the result of experimental work in this study, GTD-111 and GTD-222 Ni-based superalloys were collected and analyzed quantitatively through microscopic observation, microhardness evaluation and creep test.

베이지안 추론 기반 니켈기 초합금의 열화도 정량화 방법과 열화도 및 크리프 수명 예측의 방법 (Degradation Quantification Method and Degradation and Creep Life Prediction Method for Nickel-Based Superalloys Based on Bayesian Inference)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 고온부품의 소재로 사용하는 니켈기 초합금인 DA-5161 SX에 대한 크리프시험으로 얻은 시편 의 주사전자현미경으로 촬영한 미세조직 단면의 이미지로부터 인공지능 기반 열화인덱스(Degradation Index)로 정 량화 하는 새로운 방법을 제시하고 운전 중인 기기의 고온부품의 구성품을 파괴하지 않고 베이지안 추론 기반 열화 도를 예측하는 모델과, Larson-Miller Parameter(LMP)를 예측하여 크리프 수명 예측 모델을 제안하는 것이다. 니켈 기 초합금 미세조직인 감마프라임 상(γ')의 기하학적 특징 및 베이지안 추론 기반으로 소량의 이미지로 일관성 있는 대푯값을 추론하는 새로운 열화인덱스 방법과 고온부품을 파괴하지 않고 소재의 환경조건 정보만으로 열화인덱스 와 LMP를 예측할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다.

니켈기 초내열합금 분말의 고용화 열처리 후 냉각속도에 따른 크리프특성 분석 (Analyses of Creep Properties of Ni-base Superalloy Powders as Cooling Rate after Solid Solution Heat Treatment)

  • In this study, solid solution heat treatment of consolidated nickel-based superalloy powders is carried out by hot isotactic pressing. The effects of the cooling rate of salt quenching, and air cooling on the microstructures and the mechanical properties of the specimens are analyzed. The specimen that is air cooled shows the formation of serrated grain boundaries due to their obstruction by the carbide particles. Moreover, the specimen that is salt quenched shows higher strength than the one that is air cooled due to the presence of fine and close-packed tertiary gamma prime phase. The tensile elongation at high temperatures improves due to the presence of grain boundary serrations in the specimen that is air cooled. On the contrary, the specimen that is salt quenched and consists of unserrated grain boundaries shows better creep properties than the air cooled specimen with the serrated grain boundaries, due to the negative creep phenomenon.
