  • Stress/stram dependencies of the critical current $I_c$ in AgMgNi sheathed multifilamentary Bi(2212) superconducting tapes were evaluated at 77K, 0T. The external reinforcement was accomplished by soldering Ag-Mg tapes to sin91e side or both sides of the sample. With the external reinforcement. the strength of tapes increased but $I_c$, decreased The $I_c$, degradation characteristic according to the external reinforcement was improved markedly in terms of the stress although it appeared less rectal.table on the basis of the strain. Effects of external reinforcement were discussed in a viewpoint of monitoring sensitivity of cracking in superconducting filaments by considering n-value representing the transport behavior of the current. It is closely associated with the location of them relative to the voltage-monitoring region in the tape.

  • Stress/strain dependencies of the critical current I$_{c}$ in AgMgNi sheathed multifilamentary Bi(2212) superconducting tapes were evaluated at 77K. The external reinforcement was accomplished by soldering Ag-Mg tapes to single side or both sides of the sample. With the external reinforcement, the strength of tapes increased but I$_{c}$ decreased. The I$_{c}$ degradation characteristic according to the external reinforcement was improved markedly in terms of the stress although it appeared less remarkable on the basis of the strain.   • NiO buffer layers were deposited on texture Ni tapes fur YBCO coated conductors by MOCVD(metal organic chemical vapor deposition) method, using a single solution source. Variables were deposition temperature and flow rate of $0_2$carrier gas. At higher temperatures, The NiO(111) texture was well developed, but the NiO(200) texture was developed at low temperatures. The best result was obtained at the deposition temperature of$ 470^{\circ}C$ and the gas flow rate of 200 sccm. FWHM value of $\omega$-scan fur NiO(200) of the film and $\Phi$-scan for NiO(111) of the film was $4.2^{\circ}$ and $7^{\circ}$, respectively.

  • Multi-layered chip inductors were prepared with good magnetic properties by sintering Ni-Zn-Cu ferrites at a lower temperature. A slurry with 49.5mol%Fe$_{2}O_{3}$, 20.5mol% ZnO, 20mol% NiO and 10nol% CuO was cast into tapes with 60-100\ulcorner of thickness with a doctor blade techniques. The tapes were screen-pronted with 100% silver electrodes, layered and pressed at 250kg/cm$^{2}$ and then sintered ant 900$^{\circ}C$ for 2h. Inductance with internal electrodes printed 5, 10, and 15 turns showed 4.9, 15 and 24$\mu$, respectively, at 1MHz.

Influence of External Reinforcement on Strain Characteristics of Critical Current in BSCCO Superconducting Tapes

  • For the purpose of standardization of the critical current measurement, it is meaningful to describe how $I_{c}$ will behave as the stress/strain level changes. In this study, strain dependencies of the critical current $I_{c}$ in Ag-alloy sheathed multifilamentary Bi(2212) and Bi(2223) superconducting tapes were evaluated at 77K, 0T. The external reinforcement was accomplished by soldering AgMgNi alloy tapes onto single or both sides of the sample. With the external reinforcement to the Bi(2212) tape, the strength of the tapes increased but the critical current at the strain free state, $I_{c0}$ decreased in some cases. The strain for onset of the $I_{c}$ degradation, $\varepsilon$$_{\irr}$, increased with an increase of the reinforcing volume and then saturated to a certain value. The effect of external reinforcement on the degradation of $I_{c}$ due to the bending strain in the Bi(2223) tape was also examined. Contrary to the expectation, it showed a significant $I_{c}$ degradation even at a small strain of 0.4 %. The observations of damage morphologies gave a good explanation to the $I_{c}$ behavior.c/ behavior.r.

  • Ni-13%Cr and Ni-70%Cu alloy tapes were prepared by using high purity metal powders as starting materials. The Ni-13%Cr and the Ni-70%Cu mixtures were isostatically pressed, sintered, rolled and texture-annealed. SEM EDS analysis showed that copper and nickel atoms were completely mixed, while the alloying between the chromium powders and the nickel powders was incomplete. In spite of incomplete alloying between nickel and chromium powders, sharp cube-texture was developed for the Ni-13%Cr tape as well as the Ni-70%Cu tape.

  • The hetero junction on dielectrics and ferrite for LTCC was prepared by using NiCuZn ferrite. The shrinkage behaviour of ferrite tapes in combination with a dielectric tape was investigated. The characteristics of NiCuZn ferrite were investigated using XRD (X-ray diffractometer), Dilatometer, FE-SEM (Field emission scanning electron microscope), EDS (Energy dispersive spectrometer). NiCuZn ferrite calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ had a good apparent density and initial permeability of magnetic properties. The shrinkage rate of the NCZF700 ferrite and dielectric material was similar. The multilayer revealed dense, uniform morphologies with excellent interface quality. Diffusion of hetero junction such as dielectric and ferrite was not occuring at $900^{\circ}C$.
