The electrophoretic deposition(EPD) technique with a wide range of novel applications in the processing of advanced ceramic materials and coatings, has recently gained increasing interest both in academic and industrial sector not only because of the high versatility of its use with different materials and their combinations but also because of its cost-effectiveness requiring simple apparatus. Compared to other advanced shaping techniques, the EPD process is very versatile since it can be modified easily for a specific application. For example, deposition can be made on flat, cylinderical or any other shaped substrate with only minor charge in electrode design and positioning[1]. The synthesis of the nano-sized Ce0.2Sm0.8O1.9(SDC)particles prepared by aurea based low temperature hydrothermal process was investigated in this study[2].When we made the SDC nanoparticles, changed the time of synthesis of the SDC. The SDC nanoparticles were characterized with field-emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDX), and X-ray diffraction(XRD). And also we researched the results of our investigation on electrophoretic deposition(EPD) of the SDC particles from its suspension in acetone solution onto a non-conducting NiO-SDC substrate. In principle, it is possible to carry out electrophoretic deposition on non-conducting substrates. In this case, the EPD of SDC particles on a NiO-SDC substrate was made possible through the use of a adequately porous substrate. The continuous pores in the substrates, when saturated with the solvent, helped in establishing a "conductive path" between the electrode and the particles in suspension[3-4]. Deposition rate was found to increase its increasing deposition time and voltage. After annealing the samples $1400^{\circ}C$, we observed that deposited substrate.
Electrochemical reduction of thionyl chloride in 1.5 M $LiAlCl_4/SOCl_2$ electrolyte solution containing tetradentate Schiff base Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Mn(II) complexes has been investigated at the glassy carbon electrode. The catalyst molecules of transition metal(II) complexes were adsorbed on the electrode surface and reduced thionyl chloride resulting in a generation of oxidized catalyst molecules. There was an optimum concentration for each catalyst compound. The current density of $SOCl_2$ reduction was enhanced up to 150% at the catalyst contained electrolyte solution. The reduction currents of thionyl chloride were increased and the reduction potentials were shifted to the negative potential as scan rates became faster. The reduction of thionyl chloride was proceeded to diffusion controlled reaction.

All array of carbon paste-based electrodes was prepared by screen printing the carbon paste modified with metal oxides $(TiO_2,\;RuO_2,\;PbO_2,\;Ni(OH)_2)$ and Prussian blue (PB). An electronic tongue system was assembled with the carbon-paste electrode array, and applied to discriminate the tastes of various commercial beverages and foods by measuring the chronoamperometric responses to the samples diluted in 0.1M carbonate buffer (pH 9.6). The results were analyzed with principal component analysis(PCA) method and plotted on two dimensional PCA coordinate; it was apparent that the amperometric electronic tongue system could discriminate the types of various foods and beverages.

To improve the MCFC performance it is important to distingush between polarization losses occuring in the individual electrodes and other components. In this study a current interruption technique has been applied to a MCFC unit cell having a reference electrode to separately study the contributions of IR loss and other polarization losses. At a current density of $150mA/cm^2$ the IR-free polarization of a Ni anode was about 60mV while that of a NiO cathode was 130mV and the Ohmic loss of the cell was as large as 170mV suggesting that both the cathode and the cell structure need further improvement. The thin-film electrode model was used to simulate the performance of the electrodes. Both andoe data and cathode data were successfully fitted.

CIGS solar cell consisted of various films. In this research, we investigated electrode materials in $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ (CIGS) cells, including Al-doped ZnO (ZnO:Al), intrinsic ZnO (i-ZnO), and Al films. The sputtered ZnO:Al film with a sputtering power at 200W showed the lowest series resistance and highest cell efficiency. The electrical resistivity of the 200-W sputtered ZnO:Al film was $5.2{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ by the rapid thermal annealing at $200^{\circ}C$ for 1 min. The electrical resistivity of i-ZnO was not measurable due to its high resistance. But the optical transmittance was highest with less oxygen supply and high efficiency cell was achieved with $O_2/(Ar+O_2)$ ratio was 1% due to the increase of short-circuit current. No significant change in the cell performance by inserting a Ni layer between Al and ZnO:Al films was observed.

In order to recycle waste nickel-cadmium batteries, cadmium was selectively removed by ion substitution reaction so that cadmium and nickel could be separated efficiently. The electrode powder obtained by crushing the electrode in the waste nickelcadmium battery was leached with sulfuric acid. The cadmium in the nickel-cadmium solution was precipitated with cadmium sulfide by the addition of sodium sulfide. Ion substitution experiments were carried out under various conditions. At the optimum condition with pH = -0.1 and $Na_2S/Cd=2.3$ at room temperature, the residual Cd in the solution was about 100 ppm, and most of it was precipitated with CdS.

The hydrogen storage performance and electrochemical properties of $Zr_{1-X}Ti_X(Mn_{0.2}V_{0.2}Ni_{0.6})_{1.8}$(X=0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) alloys are investigated. The relationship between discharge performance and alloy characteristics such as P-C-T characteristics and crystallographic parameters is also discussed. All of these alloys are found to have mainly a C14-type Laves phase structure by X-ray diffraction analysis. As the mole fraction of Ti in the alloy increases, the reversible hydrogen storage capacity decreases while the equilibrium hydrogen pressure of alloy increases. Furthermore, the discharge capacity shows a maxima behavior and the rate-capability is increased, but the cycling durability is rapidly degraded with increasing Ti content in the alloy. In order to analyze the above phenomena, the phase distribution, surface composition, and dissolution amount of alloy constituting elements are examined by S.E.M., A.E.S. and I.C.P. respectively. The decrease of secondary phase amount with increasing Ti content in the alloy explains that the micro-galvanic corrosion by multiphase formation is little related with the degradation of the alloys. The analysis of surface composition shows that the rapid degradation of Ti-substituted Zr base alloy electrode is due to the growth of oxygen penetration layer. After comparing the radii of atoms and ions in the electrolyte, it is clear that the electrode surface becomes more porous, and that is the source of growth of oxygen penetration layer while accelerating the dissolution of alloy constituting elements with increasing Ti content. Consequently, the rapid degradation (fast growth of the oxygen-penetrated layer) with increasing Ti substitution in Zr-based alloy is ascribed to the formation of porous surface oxide through which the oxygen atom and hydroxyl ion with relatively large radius can easily transport into the electrode surface.
The power capacitors used as vehicle inverters must have a small size, high capacitance, high voltage, fast response and wide operating temperature. Our thin film capacitor was fabricated by alumina layers as a dielectric material and a metal electrode instead of a liquid electrolyte in an aluminum electrolytic capacitor. We analyzed the micro structures and the electrical properties of the thin film capacitors fabricated by nano-channel alumina and metal electrodes. The metal electrode was filled into the alumina nano-channel by electroless nickel plating with polyethylene glycol and a palladium catalyst. The spherical metals were formed inside the alumina nano pores. The breakdown voltage and leakage current increased by the chemical reaction of the alumina layer and $PdCl_2$ solution. The thickness of the electroless plated nickel layer was 300 nm. We observed the nano pores in the interface between the alumina layer and the metal electrode. The alumina capacitors with nickel electrodes had a capacitance density of 100 $nF/cm^2$, dielectric loss of 0.01, breakdown voltage of 0.7MV/cm and leakage current of $10^4{\mu}A$.

Lithium secondary batteries have become an important power source for portable electronic devices such as cellular phones, laptop computers. Presently, commercialized lithium-ion batteries use a LiCoO2 cathode. However, due to the high cost and environmental problems resulting from cobalt, an intensive search for new electrode materials is being actively conducted. Recently, solid solution LiMn1-xNixO2 have become attractive because of high capacity and enhanced safety at high voltages over 4.5 V. The Li1.6Ni0.35Mn0.65O2 compounds were conventionally prepared by a sol-gel method, which can produce the layered Li-Ni-Mn-O compounds with a high homogeneity. And by adding a graphene 2wt% the first charge-discharge voltage profiles was increased over Li1.6Ni0.35Mn0.65O2 compound. Also, the variation s of the discharge capacities with cycling showed a higher capacity retention rater. In this study, material lifecycle evaluation was performed to analyze the environmental impact characteristics of Li1.6Ni0.35Mn0.65O2 & graphene 2wt% half-cell manufacturing process. The software of material life cycle assessment was Gabi. Through this, environmental impact assessment was performed for each process. The environmental loads induced by Li1.6Ni0.35Mn0.65O2 & graphene 2wt% synthesis process were quantified and analyzed, and the results showed that the amount of power had the greatest impact on the environment.

Catalytic reforming of $CO_2$ by $CH_4$ over Ni-YSZ based catalysts was investigated to produce syngas as raw material of high valued chemicals and develop high performance catalyst electrode for an internal reforming of $CO_2$ in SOFC system. Ni-YSZ based catalysts were prepared using physical mixing and maleic acid methods to improve catalytic activity and inhibition of carbon deposition. The catalysts before and after the reaction were characterized by $N_2$ physisorption, TPR(temperature programed reduction), XRD and impedance analyzer. The conversions for $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ over Ni-MgO catalyst showed 90% but much amount of carbon deposition was detected on catalyst surface. On the other hand, the conversions for $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ over NiO-YSZ-$CeO_2$ catalyst showed 100% and 85% respectively, and carbon deposition on catalyst surface was inhibited under the tested condition. It was concluded that NiO-YSZ-$CeO_2$ catalyst is a promising candidate for the catalytic reforming of $CO_2$ and the internal reforming in SOFC system.
