The goal of this study is to examine whether the genre characteristics of newspaper articles are appropriately reflected in Korean language textbooks. For the purpose of this study, two corpora were built with 17 textbook articles and 60 newspaper articles respectively. The average sentence length and frequency of vocabulary in each corpus were measured. It was found that the sentences of articles in textbooks tended to have longer sentence length and more complicated structures than the articles in newspapers. For instance, sentences in the textbook articles had more verbal endings, such as conjunctive and transforming endings. On the other hand, in case of vocabulary representing 'timeliness', there was a high frequency of adverbs and nouns which were related to year, month, and time in actual articles, while it is found to be very limited in textbooks. Also, typical translative styles such as '-ko itta', '-e ttareumyun' were more prominent in textbooks than in newspaper articles. In the case of abbreviated and omitted form of particles, this was a characteristic that appeared only in actual articles because of the constraint of space. It is significant that this paper offers suggestions for the development of reading materials for Korean language education by revealing that the genre typology of actual newspaper articles is not adequately reflected in current textbooks.

Artificial intelligence (AI), an essential skill of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is being actively taught in higher education; however, AI education is only in the preparatory stage in elementary, middle, and high schools. Investigating various newspaper articles related to AI education to date can aid in basic data collection, which is an important process in the preparatory stage. Accordingly, 13,378 newspaper articles were collected from a total of 21 newspapers, and five topics were extracted using the latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA)-based topic model along with frequency analysis. Newspaper articles from the early 2000s expanded to technologies related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Accordingly, education in AI fields should be linked with education in AI-based technology. In addition, efforts should be made to secure the continuity and sequence of AI education in cooperation with related higher institutions and companies.

The purpose of this study were to know the effects of making science newspaper activity on the science inquiry process ability of elementary school students and to analyse the writing context about their articles. The 33 sixth grader were participated in this program and they made 3 or 4 make a group, 9 groups made their own science newspaper. The results are as follow: first, there were statistically significantly differences(p<.01) on the basic science inquiry process abilities especially measurement and reasoning on making science newspaper activity. But there were no significantly differences on the integrative science inquiry process abilities; second, according to their articles on science newspaper, in personal context, they used many terms such as ecosystem, producer, consumer, decomposer, balance, but it was not personalized. And in social context, They pointed the cause and solution for the pollution and destruction in ecosystem, but it was superficial. Lastly in physical context, They used well their science concepts from class and format in newspaper in making science newspaper.

The purpose of this study was to develop instructional strategy for newspaper-based science writing and to examine the effect of its application. The target unit was 'change of weather' and 'a variety of gas' in the sixth grade of elementary school, and the teaching strategy was composed of 3 stages-writing including realistic, interpretative and comprehensive writing. The result of applying this strategy into actual classrooms was as follows. First, it was proven that the science writing strategy using newspaper articles actually helped improving science process skills of learners, in particular, integrated process skills. Second, this strategy for science writing changed the scientific attitude of learners positively. While they read the newspaper articles, their thinking became more elaborate and systemized, which seemed to serve to foster their openness, criticism, and perseverance. Third, the science writing strategy did not contribute to the improvement of learners' science study achievement. To improve the understanding of scientific concepts and principles of learners, it is needed that teaching program combines with argument-based activity organically. The above-mentioned findings show that this instructional strategy using newspaper articles can be applicable as one of effective methods in science writing.

This study develops and validates an objective scale to measure newspaper use at home by elementary school students and parents. We developed a preliminary scale of 59 items through the review of literature on newspaper use and mediation as well as the examination of content validity by education experts. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs. A total of 42 items were supported by 703 parents with students in grades 1-6 using exploratory factor analysis. The model included 3 categories and 9 sub-factors: instruction (modeling, restriction, and text instruction), activities (play activity, conversation, online mediation, and scrap activity), and belief (academic achievement and information acquisition). Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed and validated the model fit; in addition, convergent validity, and discriminant validity, and cross validity was confirmed through correlation analysis by gender comparison and grade comparison. We also verified the validity of this scale through correlation analysis based on Yu and Jung (2012)'s newspaper mediation variables and scale in regards to children's motivation for using newspapers. Finally, internal consistency reliability and half reliability were also confirmed. In conclusion, the suitability and stability of home newspaper utilization scale for elementary students (HNUS-E) were confirmed. This scale provides parents and educators with ideas for the development of the children's literacy, cognitive, and affective domains that can be effectively used in research on newspaper use for school-aged children.

In this paper, we applied NIE(Newspaper In Education) to the course of study for statistics unit of elementary mathematics which can improve students' abilities of concept of statistics, analyzing data and problem solving so they can do these with direct activity by themselves and find out how NIE effects on children's learning achievement for statistics unit and more effective solution for the course of study for elementary mathematics.

Purpose: The paper presents research that examine relationship difference education quality, satisfaction, loyalty in university education sector. Specifically, the effects of difference education quality on student satisfaction and loyalty in the context of education quality are examined. Methods: A model of difference education quality effect on student satisfaction and loyalty is introduced and tested in the university using student perceptions of provider. Questionnaire was developed, and data was collected and analyzed for this study with SEM(Structural Equation Modeling). Results: The results are as follows: Education capability, BNIE(Business Newspaper In Education) are significantly influenced on student satisfaction. In addition, student satisfaction is significantly influence on external customer satisfaction, professor image. Professor image is significantly influence on student loyalty. Conclusion: Upon learning of student need and want, professor can focus on development of difference education quality based on student need and want.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an environmental education program using newspaper articles in education (NIE) and to evaluate changes in concern and practice for environmental protection after NIE. Methods: The design was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were university students in nursing, of which 31 were assigned to the experimental group and 43 to the control group. The education was carried out for 2 hr, once a week for 7 weeks. Data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 14 program, and included $x^2$ test, independent t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA. Results: NIE showed significant differences in the changes of attitude toward environment (F=4.461, p=.036). Conclusion: Findings suggest that this NIE in environmental education was effective in changing students' attitudes toward the environment. Therefore this NIE is recommended for inclusion in education for university students in nursing.

This paper presents ENIG Agent can gather distributed educational newspaper information in the web as well as provide teachers and student those information for the NIE. ENIG Agent gleans newspaper headline of appropriate educational news portal site for real-time provision of those information. The optimized extraction of headline is performed through the pre-process of educational news site, information noise filtering, pattern matching. The educational newspaper headline information that is gotten through previous process will be shown to students by web-browser. To increase the usage of those information, intelligent education methods and visualized classification techniques are used. By experiment, the performance of this ENIG Agent was evaluated.

The purposes of this paper are to show that learning English via on-line English newspapers is very effective and to suggest several applications of an English newspaper on the web in English education to improve Korean speakers' English proficiency. Firstly, this paper overviews about Newspapers In Education (NIE). Secondly, a comparison between an on-line English newspaper and a traditional one is made, focusing on their advantages and characteristics. Thirdly, some ways to use various articles of a digital English newspaper in classroom instruction are explored. Lastly, the suggestions of this study are integrated into English learning instruction of an extracurricular English learning club of Business English Department. This club includes free utilization of an Internet surfing center, Internet Cafe, in a College Library. And then, a survey among the club members is conducted and its statistical results are analyzed.
