The KAHPM consists of experts in various fields of health policy and management, and has been the leading academic discussion forum for health policy agendas of interest to the public. Health Policy and Management (HPM), the official journal of the KAHPM, published the first issue of volume 1 in October, 1991 and is publishing the second issue of volume 28 as of 2018. Currently, it is one of Korea' main journals in the field of health policy and management. HPM has published a special issue in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the KAHPM. The HPM invited authors, including former presidents of the KAHPM and current board members, to write about main issues in health policy and management. Although the HPM tried to set up an invited author on all subjects in the health policy and management field, 19 papers are published, that completed the peer review process by August, 2018. The authors of the special issue of the 30th anniversary of the KAHPM include six former presidents, a senior professor, and 12 board members. The subjects of this issue are reform of the healthcare delivery system, health insurance and medical policy, reform of health system governance, the role of National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA) and the National Evidence-based healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA), ethical aspects of health policy change, regional disparities of healthcare, healthcare accreditation, new healthcare technology evaluation system, globalization of the healthcare industry, the epidemiological investigator system, the quarantine system, safety and disaster, and official development assistance. There are some remaining topics to deal with for the KAHPM: aged society, anti-smoking, non-infectious disease, suicide, healthcare resources, emergency medical care, out-of-pocket money, medical fee payment system, medical aid system, long-term care insurance, industrial accident compensation insurance, community-centered health welfare system, and central government and local government of health. The HPM will continue to publish review articles on the main topics in health policy and management. • The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service physics teachers' perceptions on the physics education major curriculum. We surveyed 15 junior, and 13 senior college students of physics education major in an university in southern part of Korea. Among them, 24 participants(86 %) took the physics 1 course in high school and 22 participants(79 %) chose the physics 1 in their Korea Scholastic Aptitude Test. The responses showed that the most necessary part in pre-service students' learning was the understanding of high school level physics(36 %), and the understanding of introductory level physics(29 %). In the wish list of courses to be open, high school level physics course was ranked first among seven options by 61 % of respondents. Also, there was some concurrence among respondents in opinion of the necessity for understanding introductory physics. Students felt difficulties in understanding it especially owing to the lack of problem solving skill and comprehension. They added that the sufficient explanation of core concepts should be the first action in the innovative plan. Most participants of pre-service physics teachers hoped to have the revised major curriculum which could help their understanding of high school level or introductory level of physics. However, there was a gap of opinions between the group of students with completion of the high school physics 1 & 2 course and those with non-completion of them. The approach of changing major curriculum with consideration of learners' needs was recommended because the number of students with completion of the high school physics course would probably be decreasing rapidly under these circumstances such as the application of new national curriculum, the reduction of the number of the elective courses in Korea Scholastic Aptitude Test and so on.

  • In the current legal system, establishing aging friendly smart home based on healthcare for the senior people over 65 seems hard to be achieved. For these reasons, this study is intended to explore the improvements in the legal system using the comparative analysis in the domestic and foreign legal systems. The related legal system is divided into three sections - 'healthcare,' 'aging friendly,' and 'smart home' - providing that telemedicine would be implemented. According to the analysis of the legal system for healthcare, telemedicine is executed by the medical law. Thus, we need to investigate the concept and all the matters of telemedicine on the basis of foreign cases. As the result of the analysis of the legal system for 'Aging Friendly,' the definition of the elderly is ambiguous and we find the improvement of health and medical system. In addition to these, the definite bounds of the healthcare equipment have to be set. From these results, we are aware of the necessity of the improvements of the legal system, and suggest plans for these problems. That is to organize the legal system and make a new law through revising the current specific identification. This study focuses on suggesting the improvements of the legal system with the comparative analysis of the domestic and foreign legal systems.

  • This study is designed to support the development and the teaching of revised curriculum of 2007 "Technology & Home Economics" by investigating the actual condition and the necessity of education for elderly housing education. Questionnaire survey was conducted with 488 high school students in Gyeongnam in 2008. The data analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test by using SPSS 14 program. The results showed that most of the students were dissatisfied with their middle school education of elderly housing due to the lack of interesting and practical contents. Thus, various teaching-learning methods where student can experience and experiment is needed. Also, the students demanded more of factors of elderly housing, spacing plan, elderly welfare service and less of three-generation housing and senior housing in their elderly housing education. The needs of education contents differed among students depending on variables such as sex, graduated middle school, household income, dwelling space and length of residential years. Therefore, revised 2007 curriculum of "Technology & Home Economics" should include required contents in related chapters. Because there are significant differences among textbooks about elderly housing, further attention needs to be paid to the new textbooks in order to include education contents evenly. At the same time, teachers should organize their teaching contents considering the divergence of variables. The effect of elderly housing education will be maximized if the revised curriculum consists of more experimental activities such as elderly simulation in the local community.

  • In this study, the method of multiple working hypotheses (MMWH) as a method of earth scientific inquiry was applied in a context of abductive reasoning about the formation of a rock with a specific structure, and the characteristics of MMWH revealed in the reasoning process were explored. Participants were 31 senior undergraduate students enrolled in a course in a university of education. As part of the course, the participants performed abductive inquiry with multiple working hypotheses about the formation of a rock. The students were asked to record both the processes and results of their reasoning in sketchbooks. The content of the students' sketchbook reports was analyzed according to the principle of analytic induction. Results demonstrated four assertions. First, the participants' working hypotheses were suggested in the use of resource models, and the adaption of the resource models often occurred in this process. Second, the perceptual properties of evidence influenced the activation of the resource models. Third, the kinds of observed evidence and the different interpretations of evidence resulted into different judgments on working hypotheses. Fourth, sometimes new hypotheses were generated by the combination of alternative hypotheses. Implications of these findings for earth science education and relevant research were discussed.
