The geometrical efficiency of a source-to-detector configuration is considered to be necessary in the calculation of the full energy peak efficiency, especially for NaI(Tl) and HPGe gamma-ray spectroscopy detectors. The geometrical efficiency depends on the solid angle subtended by the radioactive sources and the detector surfaces. The present work is basically concerned to establish a new mathematical approach for calculating the solid angle and geometrical efficiency, based on conversion of the geometrical solid angle of a non-axial radioactive point source with respect to a circular surface of the detector to a new equivalent geometry. The equivalent geometry consists of an axial radioactive point source with respect to an arbitrary elliptical surface that lies between the radioactive point source and the circular surface of the detector. This expression was extended to include coaxial radioactive circular disk source. The results were compared with a number of published data to explain how significant this work is in the efficiency calibration procedure for the γ-ray detection systems, especially in case of using isotropic radiating γ-ray sources in the form of point and disk shapes.
This study analyzed whether the diffusion of new and renewable energy contributed to mitigating emissions of various air pollutants, including particulate matter, using panel econometric models. The theoretical foundation of such econometric models is based on the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis, which assumes an inverted U-shaped relation between national income and environmental pollution, as originally proposed by Grossman and Krueger. We examined whether there are inverted U-, U-shaped, or N-shaped relations between national income and air pollution. We demonstrate that increases in new and renewable energy significantly mitigated emissions of CO, NOX, and PM2.5. Additionally, we included NOX, SOX, PM10, and VOCs as secondary emission sources of PM2.5 and found that emission of PM10 resulted in the highest PM2.5 emissions, followed by NOX and SOX emissions. The impact of new and renewable energy on air pollution varied across regions. Increase of new and renewable energy in the Honam region significantly mitigated CO, NOX, and TSP emissions, while that in the Youngnam and metropolitan areas did not significantly mitigate air pollution overall. There was a U-shaped relationship between air pollution and national income for CO, NOX, PM2.5, and SOX, while an inverted N-shape was observed for PM10.
This paper deals with an application of adaptive blind source separation (BSS) method, equivariant adaptive separation via independence (EASI), and Teager Energy Operator (TEO) for online identification of structural modal parameters. The aim of adaptive BSS methods is recovering a set of independent sources from their unknown linear mixtures in each step when a new sample is received. In the proposed approach, firstly, the EASI method is used to decompose structural responses into independent sources at each instance. Secondly, the TEO based demodulation method with discrete energy separation algorithm (DESA-1) is applied to each independent source, and the instantaneous frequencies and damping ratios are extracted. The DESA-1 method can provide the fast time response and has high resolution so it is suitable for online problems. This paper also compares the performance of DESA-1 algorithm with Hilbert transform (HT) method. Compared to HT method, the DESA-1 method requires smaller amounts of samples to estimate and has a smaller computational complexity and faster adaption due to instantaneous characteristic. Furthermore, due to high resolution of the DESA-1 algorithm, it is very sensitive to noise and outliers. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been validated using synthetic examples and a benchmark structure.
Hydrogen as an environmentally friendly energy carrier has received special attention to solving uncertainty about the presence of renewable energy and its dependence on time and weather conditions. This material can be prepared from different sources and in various ways. In previous studies, fossil fuels have been used in hydrogen production, but due to several limitations, especially the limitation of the access to this material in the not-too-distant future and the great problem of greenhouse gas emissions during hydrogen production methods. New methods based on renewable and green energy sources as energy drivers of hydrogen production have been considered. In these methods, water or biomass materials are used as the raw material for hydrogen production. In this article, after a brief review of different hydrogen production methods concerning the required raw material, these methods are examined and ranked from different aspects of economic, social, environmental, and energy and exergy analysis sustainability. In the following, the current position of hydrogen production is discussed. Finally, according to the introduced methods, their advantages, and disadvantages, solar electrolysis as a method of hydrogen production on a small scale and hydrogen production by thermochemical method on a large scale are introduced as the preferred methods.

Photobiological hydrogen production using Rhodobacter sphaeroides KD131 was studied on the effect of light intensities and nitrogen sources. Media containing malate and glutamate were shown higher hydrogen production rate than that containing succinate and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ at the $110\;W/m^2$ illumination by halogen lamp at $30^{\circ}C$. Media lacking glutamate as the nitrogen source exhibited higher hydrogen production than that containing glutamate. Initial cell concentration was optimized to 1.0 at the absorbance of 660 nm. Hydrogen production was increased by increasing the light intensity from 0 to $216\;W/m^2$ but the increasing rate declined over $108\;W/m^2$.

Electric vehicles contribute greatly to energy conservation, $CO_2$ reduction and energy security through high fuel economy and various electric sources. Electric cars have a huge economic impact. More than 14 million hybrid electric cars have been sold worldwide. More than 3 million plug-in electric vehicles have been sold worldwide. The environmental impact depends greatly on the amount of national power generation, and as the electric grid becomes more and more carbon-intensive, countries are increasingly adopting hybrid and electric vehicles. Electricity is expanding beyond cars. Electric buses, trucks, and ships have similar benefits.
Renewable energy sources play a key role in achieving carbon neutrality and zero net emissions in the power generation sector. Various efforts have been made to support the deployment of renewable energy, particularly solar photovoltaic and wind power, including policies to internalize the external cost of carbon emissions. In this study, we conducted a financial analysis of a 800 MW floating photovoltaic system and compared it with ground solar power generation. Additionally, we conducted a cost-benefit analysis that included the social cost of carbon. The findings showed that the floating photovoltaic project can meet the profitability target through an appropriately designed internalization of the social cost of carbon.

A long-term energy system in the future is expected to be based on the ideal circulation system between water and hydrogen in the sense that the hydrogen prepared from water eventually returns to water again after its use. Currently, with respect to the hydrogen energy system, it is predicted that the turning-point at which the production cost of hydrogen will become to be lower than that of fossil fuels would be after 2010. However, fuel cell technology would be able to be practically used for the applications to the transportation vehicles and small-scale power sources from 2004, and therefore, an efficient construction of the infrastructure covering hydrogen production and supply systems would be required with short-/mid-term technologies for the $CO_2$ reduction associated with fossil fuel utilization. In this paper, the hydrogen quantity available in domestic market has been estimated focusing on the hydrogen by-produced from domestic industries, and also the infrastructure for hydrogen-driven vehicles like fuel cell cars has been reviewed.
Dye to recent development such as increasing price of fossil fuels and energy offers such a solution. Wave energy supplies. Weve energy offers such a solution. Wave energy is the most consistent of all the intermittent renewable energy sources. In addition to this, very large energy fluxes occur in the ocean waves and by using appropriate wave energy converters the energy can be harnessed. The present study looks at utilizing a direct drive turbine of cross flow type to extract energy from ocean waves indirectly. This novel design incorporates a turbine in an enclosed in a closed tank. utilizing the energy generated from sloshing.

Several efforts to replace the use of existing fossil energy resources have already been made around the world. As a result, a new industry of renewable energy has been created, and efficient energy distribution and storage has been promoted intensively. Among the newly explored renewable energy sources, the most widely used one is solar energy generation, which has a high market potential. An energy storage system (ESS) is a system as required. In this paper, the design and implementation of an ESS for the efficient use of power in stand-alone street lights is presented. In current ESS applied to stand-alone street lights, either 12V~24V DC (from solar power) or 110V~220V AC (from commercial power) is used to recharge power in systems with lithium batteries. In this study, an ESS that can support both solar power and commercial power was designed and implemented; it can also perform emergency recharge of portable devices from solar powered street lights. This system can maximize the scalability of ESSes using lithium batteries with efficient energy conversion, with the advantage of being an eco-friendly technology. In a ripple effect, it can also be applied to smart grids, electric vehicles, and new, renewable storage markets where energy storage technology is required.
