  • The use of new and renewable energy is essential to solve the problem of increasing fossil fuel use due to industrial development. The paradigm of the automobile industry has changed due to the strengthening of environmental regulations in developed countries, and the development of eco-friendly cars is underway. Fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), which use hydrogen as fuel, require strict standards for fuel-related components. In particular, check valves for FCEV control high-pressure hydrogen and thus, must be sufficiently strong for the challenging environment caused by high-pressure hydrogen. Therefore, this study used DEFORM 3D, a regular finite element analysis program, to check the moldability of check valves for FCEV, design the process, verify reliability through single streamline analysis, tensile tests, and ANSYS simulations, and identify suitable materials for the high-pressure hydrogen environment.

  • Agriculture plays an industrial and economic role, as well as an environmental and ecological conservation role, group harmony and the inheritance of traditional culture. However, no matter how advanced the industry is, the basic food necessary for human life can only be produced through the photosynthesis of plants with natural resources such as the sun, water, and air. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) predicts that the world's population will increase by another 2 billion people by 2050, and it faces a myriad of complex and diverse factors to consider, including climate change, food security concerns, and global ecosystems and political factors. In particular, in order to solve problems such as increasing productivity and production of agricultural products, improving quality, and saving energy, it is difficult to solve them with traditional farming methods. Recently, with the wind of the 4th industrial revolution, ICT convergence technology and artificial intelligence have been rapidly developing in many fields, but it is also true that the application of new technologies is somewhat delayed due to the unique characteristics of agriculture. However, in recent years, as ICT and artificial intelligence utilization technologies have been developed and applied by many researchers, a revolution is also taking place in agriculture. This paper summarizes the current state of research so far in four categories of agriculture, namely crop cultivation environment management, soil management, pest management, and irrigation management, and smart farm research data that has recently been actively developed around the world.

A new model and testing verification for evaluating the carbon efficiency of server

  • To cope with the risks of climate change and promote the realization of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, this paper first comprehensively considers the policy background, technical trends and carbon reduction paths of energy conservation and emission reduction in data center server industry. Second, we propose a computing power carbon efficiency of data center server, and constructs the carbon emission per performance of server (CEPS) model. According to the model, this paper selects the mainstream data center servers for testing. The result shows that with the improvement of server performance, the total carbon emissions are rising. However, the speed of performance improvement is faster than that of carbon emission, hence the relative carbon emission per unit computing power shows a continuous decreasing trend. Moreover, there are some differences between different products, and it is calculated that the carbon emission per unit performance is 20-60KG when the service life of the server is five years.

A Novel type of High-Frequency Transformer Linked Soft-Switching PWM DC-DC Power Converter for Large Current Applications

  • This paper presents a new circuit topology of DC busline switch and snubbing capacitor-assisted full-bridge soft-switching PWM inverter type DC-DC power converter with a high frequency link for low voltage large current applications as DC feeding systems, telecommunication power plants, automotive DC bus converters, plasma generator, electro plating plants, fuel cell interfaced power conditioner and arc welding power supplies. The proposed power converter circuit is based upon a voltage source-fed H type full-bridge high frequency PWM inverter with a high frequency transformer link. The conventional type high frequency inverter circuit is modified by adding a single power semiconductor switching device in series with DC rail and snubbing lossless capacitor in parallel with the inverter bridge legs. All the active power switches in the full-bridge inverter arms and DC busline can achieve ZVS/ZVT turn-off and ZCS turn-on commutation operation. Therefore, the total switching losses at turn-off and turn-on switching transitions of these power semiconductor devices can be reduced even in the high switching frequency bands ranging from 20 kHz to 100 kHz. The switching frequency of this DC-DC power converter using IGBT power modules is selected to be 60 kHz. It is proved experimentally by the power loss analysis that the more the switching frequency increases, the more the proposed DC-DC converter can achieve high performance, lighter in weight, lower power losses and miniaturization in size as compared to the conventional hard switching one. The principle of operation, operation modes, practical and inherent effectiveness of this novel DC-DC power converter topology is proved for a low voltage and large current DC-DC power supplies of arc welder applications in industry.

  • The use of antibiotics in Korean swine production has been changing to a restricted use of in-feed antibiotics. These antibiotics, which are also growth promoters, are powerful for disease control. Due to this issue, the swine industry is consistently looking for any kind of alternatives to antibiotics such as new feed ingredients, feed additives, feed formulation practices, or feeding methods to improve pig health and performance. In general, dietary factors provide bioavailable nutrients and/or affect physiological activity to modify the physiological condition, immune system, or microbial population of pigs to improve their performance and health. Thus, it is suggested that dietary factors may be important components in the growth and health management of pigs. Using an alternative grain feed such as rice, barley, and oats, low protein diets or low-high energy diets can be used as solutions to manage the effect of stress factors that cause growth and health problems at specific time points during the stages of pig production. Several studies support that these alternative feeds and dietary factors may improve pig growth and health by changes in intestinal conditions, immunity, or other physiological conditions compared with typical feed ingredients and diet management in pig production. Therefore, feed ingredients, low protein levels, and different energy contents in swine diets were reviewed to better understand how these dietary factors can contribute to improved pig performance and health under different physiological conditions.

방사물 폐기물 관리 및 원자력 환경 기술 개발 활성화를 위한 정책 요소 분석 (A Policy Study on the Radioactive Waste Management and Research and Development)

  • 우리나라에서 전력 공급의 40% 이상을 차지하는 원자력 발전의 중요성은 더 말할 나위가 없으나 방사성 폐기물 관리 시설의 운영 지연이 안정적인 원자력 발전에 저해 요소로 작용할 우려가 있다. 정부 당국의 정책적 배려, 방사성폐기물 관리 사업 주체의 노력, 관련 기술의 축적에도 불구하고 방사성 폐기물관리 사업은 가시적인 진전이 없는 상태이다. 그러므로 우리나라는 과거 어느 때보다도 더욱 효율적인 정책 기획과 집행으로 방사성폐기물을 관리해야 하는 시점에 처해 있다고 할 수가 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 배경에서 과거의 정책을 평가하고 미래를 위한 새로운 방사성폐기물 관리 정책을 모색한 결과 연구 개발. 부지 선정. 시설 건설. 운영, 폐쇄 후 감시에 이르는 전 과정에서 정책의 최우선 기조를 관리시설의 장기적인 안전성 확보에 두고, 안전 규제 기관의 참여 하에 공개적으로 입지를 추진해야 하며, 방사성폐기물 관리 사업과 이해 관계가 상충되지 아니하는 중립적인 위치의 공공법인체가 범국가적 차원에서 연구개발 조정 기능을 수행하여야 한다는 요지의 결론을 도출하였다.

특허 및 논문 게재 분석을 통한 연료전지용 전해질막의 연구동향 (Current Patents and Papers Research Trend of Fuel Cell Membrane)

  • 연료전지는 친환경적 에너지 발생원으로 미래의 에너지 부족 문제와 공해 문제를 한꺼번에 해결하기 위한 방법으로 최근 그 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 연료전지는 별도의 발전 장치를 필요로 하지 않고, 수소와 산소의 반응에 의해 전기를 직접 생산하기 때문에 발전 효율이 높다. 연료전지 시스템에서의 핵심 기술은 고분자 분리막을 제조하는 것으로써 상용화된 나피온 전해질막은 제조 단가가 높고 고온에서 성능이 급감한다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 많은 학자들이 나피온 전해질 분리막을 대체하기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 총설에서는 연료전지용 전해질 분리막의 특허 및 논문의 기술 경쟁력 평가를 통하여 국가별, 기관별, 기업별 발표 빈도수를 정리하였으며, 고분자 전해질 연료전지, 직접 메탄올 연료전지, 그리고 알칼리 연료전지에 대한 평가를 진행하였다.

영전압 제어 방법을 적용한 가변 펄스형 Nd:YAG 레이저시스템 (A Variable pulsed Nd:YAG laser system adopted ZCC method)

  • 기존의 레이저통신용 스위칭 방식은 변압기 2차측에 정류부 및 평활용 콘덴서가 필수적으로 포함되어 있으며, 이렇게 얻어진 직류전압의 후단부를 스위칭 하게 되므로 시스템장치가 복잡하다. 또한 스위칭에 의한 손실이 크고, 펄스반복율(pulse repetition rate)이 증가할수록 콘덴서에 저장된 에너지가 램프로 충분히 전달되지 못하여 레이저 출력 효율이 저감되는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 스위칭에 의한 손실을 줄여 레이저의 출력 효율을 개선하고자 교류전압의 영점(ZERO)을 ZCC(zero cross control)방식으로 검출하여 변압기 2차측 교류전압의 영점에서 SCR을 턴-온(turn-on)시키는 레이저 시스템을 설계 및 제작하였다. 그 결과 기존의 평활용 콘덴서와 정류부를 사용한 레이저 시스템보다 펄스반복울이 10[pps]씩 증가할수록 레이저 출력 효율 약 3.5$\%$씩 증가하여 60pps에서는 약 25$\%$까지 상승하였다.

스마트 그리드 내 독립전원의 단독운전 방지를 위한 무선 센서 네트워크 기반의 원격 전력 감시 시스템 (Wireless Sensor Network based Remote Power Monitoring System for Anti Islanding application in Smart-Grid)

  • 최근, 산업현장의 전력분야에서는 신재생 에너지와 스마트 그리드에 관심이 모아지고 있다. 스마트 그리드는 기존 전력망에 정보통신기술을 접목하여 전력망의 신뢰성, 효율성, 안전성을 향상시키고, 전력의 생산 및 소비 정보를 양방향, 실시간으로 모니터링하면서 에너지 효율을 최적화하는 차세대 전력망 기술이다. 그러나 스마트 그리드 내의 원격 모니터링 시스템들은 대부분의 유선망을 이용하는데, 유선망은 소규모 발전기에는 설치하기 어려운 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 그리드 내에서의 통신거리 제약 등의 여러 가지 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 센서네트워크를 기반으로 하는 원격 전력 모니터링 시스템을 구현한다. 또한, 구현된 시스템을 이용하여 새로운 분산전원 단독운전 방지 기법을 제안하고 실험을 통하여 검증하고자 한다.

A study on the developments of STCW training of seafarers on ships applying in the IGF Code

  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has been regulating emissions by making mandatory the compliance with institutions aimed at protecting air quality such as the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) and Tier III. Under the circumstances, one of the response measures considered to be the most feasible is the replacement of existing marine fuel with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The industry has been preemptively building infrastructure and developing and spreading engine technology to enable the use of LNG-fueled ships. The IMO, in turn, recently adopted the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-Flash-Point Fuels (IGF Code) as an institutional measure. Thus, it is required to comply with regulations on safety-related design and systems focused on response against potential risk for LNG-fueled ships, in which low-flash-point fuel is handled in the engine room. Especially, the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Convention was amended accordingly. It has adopted the qualification and training requirements for seafarers who are to provide service aboard ships subject to the IGF Code exemplified by LNG-fueled ships. The expansion in the use of LNG-fueled ships and relevant facilities in fact is expected to increase demand for talents. Thus, the time is ripe to develop methods to set up appropriate STCW training courses for seafarers who board ships subject to the IGF Code. In this study, the STCW Convention and existing STCW training courses applied to seafarers offering service aboard ships subject to the IGF Code are reviewed. The results were reflected to propose ways to design new STCW training courses needed for ships subject to the IGF Code and to identify and improve insufficiencies of the STCW Convention in relation to the IGF Code.
