제품개발 프로젝트관리 프로세스 개발 (Development of Project Management Process for Product Development)

  • Regarding project management, many organizations have developed and distributed general project management knowledge systems, and application fields use the knowledge systems to apply the process suitable for characteristics of a project. This study suggests project management process models to apply to product development projects and introduces the application cases. This product development project management process model is composed of five top processes of initiation and preparation, planning, implementation management, control, and termination and transfer. The five processes are re-divided into 18 bottom processes. These processes are expressed as input, control, output, and mechanism by using the IDEF0 model. This model is applied to the new car development project of a Korean automobile company and introduces the cases, which shows a project charter, a work breakdown structure, a project schedule, a progress s-curve, a risk register, and a performance report.

다중 프로젝트 상황에서 제품개발 업무의 동적 순서결정 (Dynamic Task Sequencing of Product Development Process in a Multi-product Environment)

  • As the market rapidly changes, the speed of new product development is highlighted as a critical element which determines the success of firms. While firms endeavor to accelerate the development speed, frequent iterations in a development process hinders the effort of acceleration. For this reason, many previous researches tried to find the optimal structure of the development process which minimizes the number of iterations. However, such researches have a limitation in that they can be applied to only a single-project environment. In a multi-project environment, waiting time induced by lack of resources also delays the process as well as the iterations do. In this paper, we propose dynamic sequencing method focusing on both iterations and waiting time for reducing the durations of development projects in a multi-project environment. This method reduces the waiting time by changing the sequence of development tasks according to the states of resources. While the method incurs additional iterations, they are expected to be offset by the reduced waiting time. The results of simulation show that the dynamic sequencing method dramatically improves the efficiency of a development process. Especially, the improvement is more salient as projects are more crowded and the process is more unbalanced. This method gives a new insight in researches on managing multiple development projects.

  • 중소기업의 기술사업화는 인적, 자원 등 인프라의 부족을 극복하는 과정으로서 기술사업화 전략을 찾아가는 것은 무엇보다도 중요하다. 불리한 조건을 극복하는 가장 명확한 방법은 시장지향적인 마케팅기획의 엄격함에 있으며 마케팅에 대한 기업가의 이해 여하는 기술개발과정에 중요하다. 모니터링단계에서 시장지향적인 기획이 중요하다는 현상을 파악하고 있으며, 기업의 기술사업화가 시장지향적 기술 및 제품 개발을 우선하는 아이템의 중요성을 강조한다. 시장지향적 아이템이 중소기업의 역량부족을 해결하고 성공을 보장할 것이다.

  • First, generally the more business employ the financial and non financial outcome analysis for evaluation process, the higher the success rate of new product development becomes in the domestic restaurant market. Second, the study shows that the financial outcome tends to be considered more than non financial outcome on deciding success of the new product development. Third, it is indicated that although detailed plans have a large impact on the outcome of new product development, communication between departments within a company is not a considerably important factor for deciding success of the new product. Fourth, 'market environment' has significant influence on deciding adoption level of financial and non financial outcome analysis, organizational resources and culture.

  • This paper is concerned with the set-up of the CE(Concurrent Engineering) model for the shortening of new product development. Recently, the situation of the new product development has been drastically changed. Customers require cheaper, better, stronger products in shorter product cycle time. To cope with this requirements from customers, engineers must accept new paradigm based on the CE and some special tools. This paper shows a tool, CE which is a good for shortening of new product development. So, CE was applied broadly in whole process of new product development and we could make it very successfully in quality, function, cost and developing time.

신제품개발과정에서 공급기업과 제조기업 관계의 영향 요인에 관한 연구 :최고경영자 특성과 성과를 중심으로 (A Study on the Factors Influencing the Relationship between Suppliers and Manufacturers in the Process of New Product Development: with a Focus on CEO's Characteristics and Performance)

  • It seems most important for a manufacturing company to be well aware of its relationship with suppliers. This is why it is essential to analyze and control the structural relationship among CEO's characteristics, relations between suppliers and manufacturers and new product development performances affected by such relations. The present study may be summed up as follows: First, from the analysis of characteristics of manufacturing company's CEO and relations between suppliers and manufacturers, it could be verified that CEO's characteristics exercised influence upon sharing of product development process and upon cooperation for technical manpower, but not upon sharing of core technologies, signifying the fact that nothing could be more important than the role of CEO who has strong will to improve his or her relations with suppliers; and Second, from the analysis of relations between suppliers and manufacturers as well as relations between management and new product development performances, it became evident that both management performance and product development performance were affected by sharing of product development process. It was also known that cooperation for technical development process had influence upon the product development performance but not upon the management performance. Furthermore, the analysis showed that both management performance as well as product development performance were affected by sharing of core technologies.

  • In this paper, we propose development of new products including the proposed process of at the customer's requirements. The success of new product development depends on customer satisfaction in the marketplace. Existing product development process, including the customer's interest was weak. In this paper, we propose development of new products which include Kano's attractive quality factor method and Timko's customer satisfaction index factor method. Also we verified new medical treatment of incontinence-nency which is applied to the proposed process.

STEP표준과 Web을 이용한 RPD환경 구축 (Development of a STEP-compliant Web RPD Environment)

  • In this paper, we present a Web-enabled product data sharing system for the support of RPD (Rapid Product Development) process by incorporating STEP (STandard for the Exchange of Product model data) with Web technology such as VRML (Virtual Reality Markup Language), SGML (Structured Generalized Markup Language) and Java. Extreme competition makes product life cycle short by incessantly deprecating current products with a brand-new one, and thus urges enterprises to devise a new product faster than ever. In this environment, an RPD process with effective product data sharing system is essential to outstrip competitors by speeding up the development process. However, the diversity of product data schema and heterogeneous systems make it difficult to exchange the product data. We chose STEP as a neutral product data schema and Web as an independent exchange environment to overcome these problems. While implementing our system, we focused on the support of STEP AP 203 UoF (Units of Functionality) views to efficiently employ STEP data models that are maximally normalized, and therefore very cumbersome to handle. Our functionality-oriented UoF view approach can increase users'appreciation since it facilitates the modular usage of STEP data models. This can also enhance the accuracy of product data. We demonstrate that our view approach is applicable to the configuration control of mechanical assemblies.

  • This paper examines critical successful facts related with the digital new product development with product innovation. For this, we have selected a Xcanvas time-machine TV of LG electronics and we have done case-study. We have performed in-depth interviews with engineers, team managers, marketers to get facts on the product development process and analyzed huge amount of data obtained from web-sites and related firms' materials. We have concluded that CSFs of Xcanvas time-machine TV are customer-centered product innovation, new perspective of considering technology and product, managing innovative team and motivation to team member.

  • This paper presents the results of an empirical study on the relationship between the type of new product idea sources and the rate of success of new product development and commercialization in Korean industries. The sample was taken from various Korean industries including telecommunication, electronics, chemical, machinery, textile, etc. and composed of 45 failure and 73 success cases. The findings are not much different from those of previous studies done in the developed countries, but show some typical characteristics of new product development activities and the idea sources, information acquisition methods, type of information , incentives for idea generation, etc. of the firms in developing country like Korea. Especially the survival rate curve and the accumulative investment curve from the idea generation to commercialization phase show a little different behavior from the previous study, which also reflect the manpower, duration of each phase of the new product development process in the Korean firms.
