  • Previously we developed a method of coronal force-free field construction using vector potentials. In this method, the boundary normal component of the vector potential should be adjusted at every iteration step to implement the boundary normal current density, which is provided by observations. The method was a variational method in the sense that the excessive kinetic energy is removed from the system at every iteration step. The boundary condition imposing the normal current density, however, is not compatible with the variational procedure seeking for the minimum energy state, which is employed by most force-free field solvers currently being used. To resolve this problem, we have developed a totally new method of force-free field construction. Our new method uses a unique magnetic field description using two scalar functions. Our procedure is non-variational and can impose the boundary normal current density exactly. We have tested the new force-free solver for standard Low & Lou fields and Titov-Demoulin flux ropes. Our code excels others in both examples, especially in Titov-Demoulin flux ropes, for which most codes available now yield poor results. Application to a real active region will also be presented.

  • Data compression becomes increasingly an important issue for reducing data storage spaces as well as transmis-sion time in network environments. In 3D geometric models, the normal vectors of faces or meshes take a major portion of the data so that the compression of the vectors, which involves the trade off between the distortion of the images and compression ratios, plays a key role in reducing the size of the models. So, raising the compression ratio when the normal vector is compressed and minimizing the visual distortion of shape model's shading after compression are important. According to the recent papers, normal vector compression is useful to heighten com-pression ratio and to improve memory efficiency. But, the study about distortion of shading when the normal vector is compressed is rare relatively. In this paper, new normal vector compression method which is clustering normal vectors and assigning Representative Normal Vector (RNV) to each cluster and using the angular deviation from actual normal vector is proposed. And, using this new method, Visually Undistinguishable Lossy Compression (VULC) algorithm which distortion of shape model's shading by angular deviation of normal vector cannot be identified visually has been developed. And, being applied to the complicated shape models, this algorithm gave a good effectiveness.

  • Economic crisis in 2008 has changed South Korean market including furniture related field. Owing to Subprime Mortgage Crisis, new economic order, in other words, New Normal was established. Low growth rate, low interest, high unemployment rate, high risks, regulation strengthening, and all that sort of negative things have became generalized. South Korean economy has developed drastically since the Korean War, however recent economic crisis and Internet and smart phone have leading roles in shaping new consumption market. In a way, furniture market has expanded despite economic recession. Total service for housing is suited to South Korean consumers and shortened Product Life Cycle induces consumers to buy more furniture. In addition, Internet and smart phone allow people to show off their private spaces to unspecified masses. As a result, consumer prefers inexpensive and expendable furniture. It is certain that furniture market makes quantitative growth, but qualitative sides are questionable. Even though the study is focused on the existent circumstances, It will help to find out the proper ways of future furniture market in South Korea.

  • The study investigated the effect of food safety knowledge, food safety trust and the factors influencing organic food purchase intention in the 'new normal' of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study employed non-contrived and cross-sectional methods. The data was collected in Malaysia using convenience sampling. A total of 330 valid questionnaires were analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and PROCESS for hypothesis testing. The study revealed a significant relationship involving food safety knowledge on personal attitude, perceived social pressure, and perceived autonomy. Moreover, organic food purchase intention was found to be influenced by personal attitude, perceived social pressure, and perceived autonomy. Interestingly, trust in organic food safety moderated the relationship between perceived autonomy and organic food purchase intention. The study proved valuable for stakeholders and organic food producers to understand the 'new normal' COVID-19 market scenario for a sound understanding of the market and the sustainability of the organic food industry. A new research framework is proposed and validated, related to individual purchase decision in global health issues which is limited in current literature. Hence, the study contributed to a better comprehension of green consumerism mainly in the Asian market.

  • Under the new normal, the China's economy growth has changed rapid growth to moderate growth since 2007. With new paradigm, China is facing an abnormally severe employment situation. Also the financial expenditure is an important macro adjustment method. The research analyzes both implications of financial expenditures to employment in China, and the trend of implication in different regions. The research was conducted by 2SLS method using the panel data of 31 Chinese local governments(provinces, cities, and autonomous districts) during 1998 to 2015. The main findings are as follows. In the new normal model(2008-2015), the financial expenditure to urban employment have higher effect than total employment. Also, higher income region have more positive effect than lower income region. Medical, technology expenditure have positive effect to total employment, social security, education expenditure have positive effect to urban employment. In the total model(1998-2015) have similar results with new normal model, but the elasticity is more higher than total model. Ultimately, it can be seen that the efficiency of financial expenditure is lower than new normal model. The government should increase the proportion of expenditure in fields of social security, education, medical, technology, and improve the expenditure structure. So as to promote the effect of financial expenditure to employment in new normal economy.

  • Reliability analysis is a probabilistic approach to determine a safety level of a system. Reliability is defined as a probability of a system (or a structure, in structural engineering) to functionally perform under given conditions. In the 1960s, Basler defined the reliability index as a measure to elucidate the safety level of the system, which until today is a commonly used parameter. However, the reliability index has been formulated based on the pivotal assumption which assumed that the considered limit state function is normally distributed. Nevertheless, it is not guaranteed that the limit state function of systems follow as normal distributions; therefore, there is a need to define a new reliability index for no-normal distributions. The main contribution of this paper is to define a sophisticated reliability index for limit state functions which their distributions are non-normal. To do so, the new definition of reliability index is introduced for non-normal limit state functions according to the probability functions which are calculated based on the convolution theory. Eventually, as the state of the art, this paper introduces a simplified method to calculate the reliability index for non-normal distributions. The simplified method is developed to generate non-normal limit state in terms of normal distributions using series of Gaussian functions.

  • A new stress, load and displacement controlled direct shear apparatus has recently been developed at the Hyundai Institute of Construction Technology This direct shear apparatus is capable of testing of rock joint under constant normal stiffness, constant normal stress or constant normal load boundary conditions. This paper describes this direct shear apparatus and illustrates results of shear tests at constant normal stress condition, constant normal load condition and constant normal stiffness condition with dental stones which have a same joint roughness and unconfined compressive strength.
