  • Automotive engineers involved in a new car project use various CAD systems that are chosen based on work requirements. For example, engineers in Hyundai Motors are using Pro/Designer and Alias fur the style design, but they use CATIA to design parts and assemblies, ANSYS for FEM analysis, and Pro/Engineer to design engines. Because they use different CAD systems, they have difficulties in collaborative design. Data, which contains errors, is transferred between CAD systems. It is difficult to find out such errors in a large CAD model. An evaluation method for CAD models has been developed in this study. This diagnosis tool analyses a STEP or an IGES file generated from a CAD system, and produces a quantitative error report. The tool has been tested with actual data sets. This paper proposes an algorithm that produces mathematical error values of entities of IGES models that have geometrical data, and entities of STEP models that have topological data, and inspects every part off model. To develop this system, we have used the OpenCASCADE kernel, which is an open source kernel developed by Matra Datavision of France.

  • Vehicle Dynamics Control(VDC) has been a breakthrough and become a new terminology for the safety of a driver and improvement of vehicle handling. This paper examines the usefulness of a brake steer system (BSS), which uses differential brake forces for steering intervention in the context of VDC. In order to help the car to turn, a yaw moment can be achieved by altering the left/light and front/rear brake distribution. The steering function achieved through BSS can then be used to control lateral position in an unintended road departure system. A 8-DOF non-linear vehicle model including STI tire model will be validated using the equations of motion of the vehicle, and the non-linear vehicle dynamics. Since Fuzzy logic can consider the nonlinear effect of vehicle modeling, Fuzzy controller is designed to explore BSS feasibility, by modifying the brake distribution through the control of the yaw rate of the vehicle. The control strategies developed will be tested by simulation of a variety of situation; the possibility of VDC using BSS is verified in this paper.

  • In this study, a new method that can estimate ICG data from a subject's both hands to measure Cardiac Output under convenient sensor environment. With this aim, a grip-type electrode was implemented to measure ICG. To improve the accuracy of measurement, the regression equation was extracted using multiple bio-parameters and our result was compared with the thoracic ICG equipment(Physio Flow$^{(R)}$, PF104D, Manatec Biomedical, France), which is being used in clinics. The subjects consist of 26 men and 4 women(age in $22.0{\pm}3.32$). They are no cardiac disease. Parameters available for regression model were used gender, BMI, MBP, LVET, dZ/dt(max), distance between the measured electrodes, body impedance, and PTT. As a result of analyzing the ICG measurement value on thorax and both hands, the correlation with stroke volume, heart rate, and cardiac output was $R^2$=0.853, $R^2$=0.958 and $R^2$=0.899, respectively.

  • 98 wise sayings on the nature of book are collected from various books and analyzed in their meanings. The results of analyzing them are as follows: A book is a good friend, teacher, doctor, and guide of life. A book is an implement of enhancing man s culture and a vehicle of civilization. A book makes man find his own self and shows his way of life. A book has its own life, develops it, and doesn't lose its life, but its destination depends on its reader. Great books make man know, dominate, civilize the world. Good books are not easy to come in contact with, but immortal and life-long as a good friend. Bad books are not difficult to come in contact with, but poisonous and dull. You can judge a man by the book he reads. A book to be of help is to make man think. Great books make man begin his new life. Nationalities occupations, and periods of activity of the authors who said wise sayings are investigated and analyzed. First, the nationalities of the authors are such advanced countries with high culture as England(41%), France(21%), America(19%), Germany(5%) and Rome(5%). Secondary, their occupations are as follows : a man of letters(62%), philosopher(13%), politician(5%), and churchman(4%), and especially poet forms 32% of men of letters. • This study is on the esthetic characteristics of Christian Lacroix's haute couture works. The materials for the study are the precedent studies, the related literature, and the photographs of the works and the interview articles in fashion journal at home and abroad. The result of this study were finds three esthetic characteristics in his works and fashion philosophy; historic, ethnic, and hybrid sense. First, the historic sense, Christian Lacroix's biggest characteristic, is influenced by his major studies, but is not a revival from the past itself but a new characteristic based on borrowing and reinterpreting the images created by introducing and compromising the historic elements. Second, the ethnic sense is influenced by the growing background in his childhood and can be characterized as compromise among the multi-national design features. It is certified by the contrasting images, styles, expressions, materials, ornament elements, and so forth with the worldwide ethnic senses centered by the southern France and Spain. Third, the hybrid sense as the essential characteristic shows the uniqueness in his design by not only combining the modern materials, technologies, and futuristic emotion but also liberally compromising and associating the emotions based on a mixture among the follows; the historic representative styles, the foreign materials, the diversity between the Eastern and Western culture, and all elements, details, trimmings In the fashion design.

  • Naejeon area at Chandeokgung Palace means the areas of Huijeongdang and Daejojeon area. Huijeongdang or Hall of Brilliant Rule is made for the king, and Daejojeon or Hall of Great Creation is made for the queen. These areas were located nearly and repeatedly burned down and rebuilt several times together, but their forms were largely unchanged. However in 1920, they rebuilt in a very different way. The purpose of this study was to estimate construction plans, progress and completion of Naejeon area's rebuilding. They were reconstructed into eclectic structures as the exteriors were built using basic materials from Gyeongbokgung Palace. So they have traditional-looking appearances, but the interiors consisted of modern equipments and were built by applying foreign style construction techniques. The main floored room of Daejojeon and the area of Huijeongdang were built in standing style by installing radiators and French furnitures. Also, the porch, corridor, storage space and veranda were constructed under the influence of Japanese construction. After the reconstruction, there were changes in the usage of some spaces. Huijeongdang functioned only for Alhyeonso or audience chamber rather than Pyeonjeon or state hall. New organizations created by the Japanese such as Chansi or secretaries office and the Chief secretary's office were included in Naejeon area.

  • Art Nouveau style refers to the movement of art which was started in France and Belgium in the last decade of the 19th and the early years of the 20th century. The distinguishing characteristics of Art Nouveau style are the sensous sinuosity of its line, nervously undulating, curving over itself, rhythmical, flowing in endless patterns, which are inspired by animals and plants, specially by flowers, leaves, long stalks. The Art Nouveau style includes also the extreme simplicity of form, and asymmetric design. This new trend of art movement spread into architecture, furniture, wall papers, graphic design, accessories and textiles. In this paper, I tried to find out whether or not the Art Nouveau style had an effect on clothing. Because I believe clothing, like architecture, painting, and sculpture, is an Art form that derives from a particular set of cultural circumstances and reflects the needs and aspirations of the society for which it is created. Fashions in clothing over the last five thousand years have mirrorred the art form as well as the spirit. The result of this study shows that the Art Nouveau style made a lasting contribution to the modernism of clothing as well as architecture and interior design at the end of 19th century and the early years of the 20th century. The modernism of clothing appeared in the straight silhouette, asymmetric design, simple and light trimming, embroidery with Art Nouveau pattern, and stylized flower design in textile. Art Nouveau made a great contribution toward the modern clothing to have its liveliness and its harmonious relationship between clothing design and the use of materials.

  • Purpose - This research is to provide new insights for policy makers in Korea, comparing South Korea and foreign countries such as Japan, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and the forth, in terms of the effects of retail regulations on a retail trade industry. Research design, data, and methodology - After introduction, the research begins with literature review on the background why advanced countries have introduced retail legislations, then, will present their effects. The fourth section will compare the South Korea with the above foreign countries. Finally, the authors will draw conclusions and mention not only research limitations but also future research directions. Results - Based on the previous research, the authors compared Korea and advanced countries, in terms of how retail regulations influence retail employment, retail productivity, retail price, and the protection of independent retailers. The authors found that industrialized countries have made a significant effort to protect small shops for social stability with many different regulations and/or budget. With regard to results, however, the degree of its achievement is lower than expected. Conclusions - In order to protect small- and medium-sized retailers efficiently and effectively, policy makers need to develop better sophisticated retail regulations than those of advanced countries.
