A Clinical Study on Outpatients in Oriental Neuropsychiatry Clinic of an Oriental Medicine Hospital (서울소재 동서한방병원 한방신경정신과 외래 환자의 임상고찰)

  • The aim of this study was to show the clinical aspects in outpatients who visited Oriental Neuropsychiatry Clinic. Method : We studied 419 patients who visited Oriental Neuropsychiatry Clinic of Dong-Sea Medical Center from march, 2007 to August, 2007. Results & Conclusion : 1. The ratio of male to female patients was 1:2 and age distribution was most frequent in 50s. 2. From onset, 32% of patients visited Oriental Neuropsychiatry Clinic in a week, 58% of patients visited in a month. 3. Oriental Neuropsychiatry diseases were 80%, Non-Oriental Neuropsychiatry diseases were 20%. The most common Oriental Neuropsychiatry diseases were Somatoform Disorders. 4. The most common diagnosises of the Oriental Neuropsychiatry diseases were Psychosomatic diseases. 5. The most common cheif corn1ains were Headache. 6. The most commonly used herbal medicine was Gamiondam-tang and Guibi-tang

  • Objectives : This study was performed to develop Hwabyung clinical guideline. Acupuncture, moxibustion, negative therapy and psychotherapy were selected, and herbal therapy was excluded in this study. Methods : 27 questions were composed to investigate nonherbal therapy of Hwabyung. They were answered by the experts. They are the professors of oriental neuropsychiatry in Korea. Results and Conclusions : Most experts use acupuncture mainly in treating Hwabyung. They think that acupuncture therapy is needed by all means. Moxibustion, negative therapy and psychotherapy are also utilized mainly or partially to treat Hwabyung, Moxibustion and negative therapy are usually done for somatic symptoms, and psychotherapy is for mental symptoms.

Analysis of the Important Herb Medications Corresponded with Neuropsychiatry of "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" (방약합편(方藥合編)에 수재된 신경정신과(神經精神科) 관련 주요 처방(處方)에 대한 연구(硏究))

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analysis of the herb medications corresponded with neuropsychiatry of "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun". Methods : The herb medications of "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" Sang.Jung.Ha-Tong(上.中.下統) and "Enlargement side prescriptions" (增補方) are selected by comment on the chief virtue including reference word of corresponded with neuropsychiatry. Results and Conclusion : "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" is a book most people who have a background or career in Han Medicine(韓醫學) would pore over. They corresponded with neuropsychiatry among the herb medications of "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" Sang.Jung.Ha-Tong(上.中.下統) are 55 prescriptions that Sang-Tong(上統) is 8 prescriptions, Jung-Tong(中.統) is 23 prescriptions and Ha-Tong(下統) is 24 prescriptions. And the herb medications corresponded with neuropsychiatry of "Enlargement side prescriptions" (增補方) are 40 prescriptions. And then the herb medications corresponded with neuropsychiatry of "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" received much influence from "Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam". Incidentally the herb medications corresponded with neuropsychiatry of "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" Sang.Jung.Ha-Tong showed the high percentage in Neurosis. And the herb medications corresponded with neuropsychiatry of "Enlargement side prescriptions" showed the high percentage in Psychosis. Besides not only put "Enlargement side prescriptions a premium on "Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam", but also made it the herb medications which were recorded on books flowed after "Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam" known. It was entered up books quoted from "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" Sang.Jung.Ha-Tong but the herb medications were that were not succeeded from "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" Sang.Jung.Ha-Tong. Therefore "Enlargement side prescriptions" shows the efforts for supplement of "Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyun" Sang.Jung.Ha-Tong.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study was to introduce Chinese Taoist Cognitive Psychotherapy (CTCP), a psychotherapy based on Oriental culture, and review related research to understand its efficacy.Methods Relevant articles were searched from CNKI, WANFANG, Pubmed, EMBASE, AMED and CENTRAL.Results Thirty-seven studies were selected based on our inclusion criteria, which included 31 RCTs. The overall risk of bias of the RCTs was unclear or high. In the total relevant studies, the target diseases were most commonly depression and anxiety disorder. Generally, CTCP combined with Western medicine was significantly more effective than prescribing medicine alone.Conclusions CTCP can be useful for several psychiatric disorders including depression and anxiety disorder; however, more high-quality clinical trials are needed to confirm its efficacy.

  • Symptoms of Psychosomatic disease are various. Mamok(麻木), one of that symptoms, is a kind of sensory disorder and similar to numbness but more complicated. In this report, we described two men diagnosed as psychosomatic disease and undifferentiated somatoform disorder. One complained Mamok of his tongue and the other complained it of his right arm and leg. And both of their symptoms were disappeared quickly after treated by Hwa-acupuncture.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to suggest that psychotherapy must be considered when treating conversion disorder patient with convulsion. Methods : We treated the patient with counseling and autogenic training in psychotherapies, not only traditional methods. Results : In this study, we found difference between when counselling and autogenic training is combined and when they are not practiced. Conclusions : Counseling and autogenic training is good treatment at patient with convulsion of conversion disorder.

  • Parkinson's Disease is a well known degenerative disease which result's in the depletion of dopamin-producing neurons in the pars compacta of the substantia nigra. This is a chronic, progressive disorder characterized by progressive muscular rigidity, pill-rolling tremor, flexed posture, shuffling gate and akinesia. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of an oxygen therapy with various scales on symptoms of Parkinson's disease. We treated his disease with Oxygen treatment , including herbal medicine acupuncture, and trigger point therapy, and we evaluated the clinical progress of the patient using UPDRS and H- Y stage. After treatment for about 1-month, the chief complaints and tremor symptoms were improved. This study suggests that oxygen therapy is significantly effective in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect on 5 chronic insomnia patients according to the oriental medical treatment and sleep restriction therapy. These patients were treated with Sa-Am acupunture therapy(瞻正格), Ondam-tang, sleep restriction therapy and evaluated about comfort and improvement after therapy. The result of this research showed that all patients were satisfied with improvement of insomnia subjectively. I considered that chronic insomnia can be improved by oriental medical treatment with sleep restriction therapy and continuous research must be accumulated subsequently.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Gamigumguesingi-hwan(Jiaweijinkuishenqi-wan) against urinary frequency. Methods : Gamigumguesingi-hwan(Jiaweijinkuishenqi-wan) is known as a useful herbal medication for urinary fequency. So we treat two patients with Gamigumguesingi-hwan(Jiaweijinkuishenqi-wan) three times a day. By investigating the frequency of urine, we can get some data. Results : One patient's nocturia frequency was counted 10 times to 3 times and voided volume was increased. The other patient's nocturia frequency was counted 10 times to 3~4 times. Conclusions : Gamigumguesingi-hwan(Jiaweijinkuishenqi-wan) is effective in urinary frequency and nocturia.
