  • In this paper, we propose a method to automatically generate a configured song with melodies composed of front/middle/last parts by using hierarchical artificial neural networks in automatic composition. In the first layer, an artificial neural network is used to learn an existing song or a random melody and outputs a song after performing rhythm post-processing. In the second layer, the melody created by the artificial neural network in the first layer is learned by three artificial neural networks of front/middle/last parts in the second layer in order to make a configured song. In the artificial neural network of the second layer, we applied a method to generate repeatability using measure identity in order to make song with repeatability and after that the song is completed after rhythm, chord, tonality post-processing. It was confirmed from experiments that our proposed method produced configured songs well.

  • The Neuron structure in a nervous system consists of inhibitory neurons and excitory neurons. Both neurons are activated by agonistic neurons and inactivated by antagonist neurons. In this paper, we proposed a physiological fuzzy neural network by analyzing the physiological neuron structure in the nervous system. The proposed structure selectively activates the neurons which go through a state of excitement caused by agonistic neurons and also transmit the signal of these neurons to the output layers. The proposed physiological fuzzy neural networks based on the nervous system consists of a input player, and the hidden layer which classifies features of learning data, and output layer. The proposed fuzzy neural network is applied to recognize bronchial squamous cell carcinoma images and car plate images. The result of the experiments shows that the learning time, the convergence, and the recognition rate of the proposed physiological fuzzy neural networks outperform the conventional neural networks.

  • In this paper, artificial neural networks, a new kind of intelligent method, are employed to model and predict amplitude dependent damping in buildings based on our full-scale measurements of buildings. The modelling method and procedure using neural networks to model the damping are studied. Comparative analysis of different neural network models of damping, which includes multi-layer perception network (MLP), recurrent neural network, and general regression neural network (GRNN), is performed and discussed in detail. The performances of the models are evaluated and discussed by tests and predictions including self-test, "one-lag" prediction and "multi-lag" prediction of the damping values at high amplitude levels. The established models of damping are used to predict the damping in the following three ways : (1) the model is established by part of the data measured from one building and is used to predict the another part of damping values which are always difficult to obtain from field measurements : the values at the high amplitude level. (2) The model is established by the damping data measured from one building and is used to predict the variation curve of damping for another building. And (3) the model is established by the data measured from more than one buildings and is used to predict the variation curve of damping for another building. The prediction results are discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose regression neural networks based on regression trees. We map regression trees into three layered feedforward networks. We put multi feature split functions in the first layer so that the networks have a better chance to get optimal partitions of input space. We suggest two supervised learning algorithms for the network training and test both in single feature split and multifeature split functions. In experiments, the proposed regression neural networks is proved to have the better learning performance than those of the single feature split regression trees and the single feature split regression networks. Furthermore, we shows that the proposed learning schemes have an effect to prune an over-grown tree without degrading the learning performance.

  • Learning procedure in the neural network is updating of weights between neurons. Unadequate initial learning coefficient causes excessive iterations of learning process or incorrect learning results and degrades learning efficiency. In this paper, adaptive learning algorithm is proposed to increase the efficient in the learning algorithms of Kohonens Self-Organization Neural networks. The algorithm updates the weights adaptively when learning procedure runs. To prove the efficiency the algorithm is experimented to clustering of the random weight. The result shows improved learning rate about 42~55% ; less iteration counts with correct answer.

  • This paper demonstrates that there is a unique exponentially stable equilibrium state of a class of impulsive cellular neural network with delays. The analysis exploits M-matrix theory and generalized comparison principle to derive some easily verifiable sufficient conditions for the global exponential stability of the equilibrium state. The results extend and improve earlier publications. An example with its simulation is given for illustration of theoretical results.

  • In this paper, the direct adaptive control using neural networks is presented for the control of chaotic nonlinear systems. The direct adaptive control method has an advantage that the additional system identification procedure is not necessary. In order to evaluate the performance of our controller design method, two direct adaptive control methods are applied to a Duffing's equation and a Lorenz equation which are continuous-time chaotic systems. Our simulation results show the effectiveness of the controllers.

  • This paper demonstrates that the recurrent neural networks can be used successfully for the identification of finite automata (FAs). A new type of recurrent neural network (RNN) is proposed and the offline training algorithm, regulated Levenberg-Marquadt (LM) algorithm, for the network is developed. Simulation result shows that the identification and the extraction of FAs are practically achievable.
