  • This study aims to design a Severity-Adjusted LOS(Length of Stay) Model in order to efficiently manage LOS of AMI(Acute Myocardial Infarction) patients. We designed a Severity-Adjusted LOS Model with using data-mining methods(multiple regression analysis, decision trees, and neural network) which covered 6,074 AMI patients who showed the diagnosis of I21 from 2004-2009 Korean National Hospital Discharge in-depth Injury Survey. A decision tree model was chosen for the final model that produced superior results. This study discovered that the execution of CABG, status at discharge(alive or dead), comorbidity index, etc. were major factors affecting a Sevirity-Adjustment of LOS of AMI patients. The difference between real LOS and adjusted LOS resulted from hospital location and bed size. The efficient management of LOS of AMI patients requires that we need to perform various activities after identifying differentiating factors. These factors can be specified by applying each hospital's data into this newly designed Severity-Adjusted LOS Model.

  • Numerous enterprises, organizations and individual users are exposed to large DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. DDoS attacks are performed through a BotNet, which is composed of a number of computers infected with a malware, e.g., zombie PCs and a special computer that controls the zombie PCs within a hierarchical chain of a command system. In order to detect a malware, a malware detection software or a vaccine program must identify the malware signature through an in-depth analysis, and these signatures need to be updated in priori. This is time consuming and costly. In this paper, we propose a botnet detection scheme that does not require a periodic signature update using an artificial neural network model. The proposed scheme exploits Word2Vec and accelerated hierarchical density-based clustering. Botnet detection performance of the proposed method was evaluated using the CTU-13 dataset. The experimental result shows that the detection rate is 99.9%, which outperforms the conventional method.

  • This study used in vivo intracellular recording in rat hippocampus to evaluate the effect of lidocaine and MK-801 on the membrane properties and the synaptic responses of individual neurons to electrical stimulation of the commissural pathway. Cells in control group typically fired in a tonic discharge mode with an average firing frequency of $2.4{\pm}0.9$ Hz. Neuron in MK-801 treated group (0.2 mg/kg, i.p.) had an average input resistance of $3.28{\pm}5.7\;M{\Omega}$ and a membrane time constant of $7.4{\pm}1.8$ ms. These neurons exhibited $2.4{\pm}0.2$ ms spike durations, which were similar to the average spike duration recorded in the neurons of the control group. Slightly less than half of these neurons were firing spontaneously with an average discharge rate of $2.4{\pm}1.1$ Hz. The average peak amplitude of the AHP following the spikes in these groups was $7.4{\pm}0.6$ mV with respect to the resting membrane potential. Cells in MK-801 and lidocaine treated group (5 mg/kg, i.c.v.) had an average input resistance of $3.45{\pm}6.0\;M{\Omega}$ and an average time constant of $8.0{\pm}1.4$ ms. The cells were firing spontaneously at an average discharge rate of $0.6{\pm}0.4$ Hz. Upon depolarization of the membrane by 0.8 nA for 400 ms, all of the tested cells exhibited accommodation of spike discharge. The most common synaptic response contained an EPSP followed by early-IPSP and late-IPSP. Analysis of the voltage dependence revealed that the early-IPSP and late-IPSP were putative $Cl^--and\;K^+-dependent$, respectively. Systemic injection of the NMDA receptor blocker, MK-801, did not block synaptic responses to the stimulation of the commissural pathway. No significant modifications of EPSP, early-IPSP, or late-IPSP components were detected in the MK-801 and/or lidocaine treated group. These results suggest that MK-801 and lidocaine manifest their CNS effects through firing pattern of hippocampal pyramidal cells and neural network pattern by changing the synaptic efficacy and cellular membrane properties.

  • In modern society, lifestyle and individuality are important, and personalized lifestyle and patterns are emerging. The number of people with articulation diseases is increasing due to wrong living habits. In addition, as the number of households increases, there is a case where emergency care is not received at the appropriate time. We need information that can be managed by ourselves through accurate analysis according to the individual's condition for health and disease management, and care appropriate to the emergency situation. It is effectively used for classification and prediction of data using CNN in deep learning. CNN differs in accuracy and processing time according to the data features. Therefore, it is necessary to improve processing speed and accuracy for real-time healthcare. In this paper, we propose motion monitoring using Mask R-CNN for articulation disease management. The proposed method uses Mask R-CNN which is superior in accuracy and processing time than CNN. After the user's motion is learned in the neural network, if the user's motion is different from the learned data, the control method can be fed back to the user, the emergency situation can be informed to the guardian, and appropriate methods can be taken according to the situation.

  • Predicting a company's financial bankruptcy is traditionally one of the most crucial forecasting problems in business analytics. In previous studies, prediction models have been proposed by applying or combining statistical and machine learning-based techniques. In this paper, we propose a novel intelligent prediction model based on the simulated annealing which is one of the well-known optimization techniques. The simulated annealing is known to have comparable optimization performance to the genetic algorithms. Nevertheless, since there has been little research on the prediction and classification of business decision-making problems using the simulated annealing, it is meaningful to confirm the usefulness of the proposed model in business analytics. In this study, we use the combined model of simulated annealing and machine learning to select the input features of the bankruptcy prediction model. Typical types of combining optimization and machine learning techniques are feature selection, feature weighting, and instance selection. This study proposes a combining model for feature selection, which has been studied the most. In order to confirm the superiority of the proposed model in this study, we apply the real-world financial data of the Korean companies and analyze the results. The results show that the predictive accuracy of the proposed model is better than that of the naïve model. Notably, the performance is significantly improved as compared with the traditional decision tree, random forests, artificial neural network, SVM, and logistic regression analysis.

  • In order to prevent unnecessary re-admission, it is necessary to intensively manage the groups with high probability of re-admission. For this, it is necessary to develop a re-admission prediction model. Two - year discharge summary data of one university hospital were collected from 2016 to 2017 to develop a predictive model of re-admission. In this case, the re-admitted patients were defined as those who were discharged more than once during the study period. We conducted descriptive statistics and crosstab analysis to identify the characteristics of rehospitalized patients. The re-admission prediction model was developed using logistic regression, neural network, and decision tree. AUC (Area Under Curve) was used for model evaluation. The logistic regression model was selected as the final re-admission predictive model because the AUC was the best at 0.81. The main variables affecting the selected rehospitalization in the logistic regression model were Residental regions, Age, CCS, Charlson Index Score, Discharge Dept., Via ER, LOS, Operation, Sex, Total payment, and Insurance. The model developed in this study was limited to generalization because it was two years data of one hospital. It is necessary to develop a model that can collect and generalize long-term data from various hospitals in the future. Furthermore, it is necessary to develop a model that can predict the re-admission that was not planned.

  • In addition to the research on noise removal and super-resolution using the data restoration (Output result) function of Autoencoder, research on the performance improvement of clustering using the dimension reduction function of autoencoder are actively being conducted. The clustering function and data restoration function using Autoencoder have common points that both improve performance through the same learning. Based on these characteristics, this study conducted an experiment to see if the autoencoder model designed to have excellent data recovery performance is superior in clustering performance. Skip connection technique was used to design autoencoder with excellent data recovery performance. The output result performance and clustering performance of both autoencoder model with Skip connection and model without Skip connection were shown as graph and visual extract. The output result performance was increased, but the clustering performance was decreased. This result indicates that the neural network models such as autoencoders are not sure that each layer has learned the characteristics of the data well if the output result is good. Lastly, the performance degradation of clustering was compensated by using both latent code and skip connection. This study is a prior study to solve the Hanja Unicode problem by clustering.

  • In order to quickly and accurately diagnose pneumonia on a chest X-ray image, different batch sizes of 4, 8, 16, and 32 were applied to the same Xception deep learning model, and modeling was performed 3 times, respectively. As a result of the performance evaluation of deep learning modeling, in the case of modeling to which batch size 32 was applied, the results of accuracy, loss function value, mean square error, and learning time per epoch showed the best results. And in the accuracy evaluation of the Test Metric, the modeling applied with batch size 8 showed the best results, and the precision evaluation showed excellent results in all batch sizes. In the recall evaluation, modeling applied with batch size 16 showed the best results, and for F1-score, modeling applied with batch size 16 showed the best results. And the AUC score evaluation was the same for all batch sizes. Based on these results, deep learning modeling with batch size 32 showed high accuracy, stable artificial neural network learning, and excellent speed. It is thought that accurate and rapid lesion detection will be possible if a batch size of 32 is applied in an automatic diagnosis study for feature extraction and classification of pneumonia in chest X-ray images using deep learning in the future.

  • Humans mainly recognize surrounding objects using visual and auditory information among the five senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste). Major research related to the latest object recognition mainly focuses on analysis using image sensor information. In this paper, after emitting various chirp audio signals into the observation space, collecting echoes through a 2-channel receiving sensor, converting them into spectral images, an object recognition experiment in 3D space was conducted using an image learning algorithm based on deep learning. Through this experiment, the experiment was conducted in a situation where there is noise and echo generated in a general indoor environment, not in the ideal condition of an anechoic room, and the object recognition through echo was able to estimate the position of the object with 83% accuracy. In addition, it was possible to obtain visual information through sound through learning of 3D sound by mapping the inference result to the observation space and the 3D sound spatial signal and outputting it as sound. This means that the use of various echo information along with image information is required for object recognition research, and it is thought that this technology can be used for augmented reality through 3D sound.

  • In recent, sensors embedded in robots, equipment, and circuits have become common, and research for diagnosing device failures by learning measured sensor data is being actively conducted. This failure diagnosis study is divided into a classification model for predicting failure situations or types and a regression model for numerically predicting failure conditions. In the case of a classification model, it simply checks the presence or absence of a failure or defect (Class), whereas a regression model has a higher learning difficulty because it has to predict one value among countless numbers. So, the reason that regression modeling is more difficult is that there are many irregular situations in which it is difficult to determine one output from a similar input when predicting by matching input and output. Therefore, in this paper, we focus on input and output data with periodicity, analyze the input/output relationship, and secure regularity between input and output data by performing sliding window-based input data patterning. In order to apply the proposed method, in this study, current and temperature data with periodicity were collected from MMC(Modular Multilevel Converter) circuit system and learning was carried out using ANN. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that when a window of 2% or more of one cycle was applied, performance of 97% or more of fit could be secured.
