Numerical Prediction of Temperature-Dependent Flow Stress on Fiber Metal Laminate using Artificial Neural Network (인공신경망을 사용한 섬유금속적층판의 온도에 따른 유동응력에 대한 수치해석적 예측)

  • The flow stresses have been identified prior to a numerical simulation for predicting a deformation of materials using the experimental or analytical analysis. Recently, the flow stress models considering the temperature effect have been developed to reduce the number of experiments. Artificial neural network can provide a simple procedure for solving a problem from the analytical models. The objective of this paper is the prediction of flow stress on the fiber metal laminate using the artificial neural network. First, the training data were obtained by conducting the uniaxial tensile tests at the various temperature conditions. After, the artificial neural network has been trained by Levenberg-Marquardt method. The numerical results of the trained model were compared with the analytical models predicted at the previous study. It is noted that the artificial neural network can predict flow stress effectively as compared with the previously-proposed analytical models.

  • In this paper, we propose a wavelet based fuzzy neural network(WFNN) based direct adaptive control scheme for the solution of the tracking problem of mobile robots. To design a controller, we present a WFNN structure that merges advantages of neural network, fuzzy model and wavelet transform. The basic idea of our WFNN structure is to realize the process of fuzzy reasoning of wavelet fuzzy system by the structure of a neural network and to make the parameters of fuzzy reasoning be expressed by the connection weights of a neural network. In our control system, the control signals are directly obtained to minimize the difference between the reference track and the pose of mobile robot using the gradient descent(GD) method. In addition, an approach that uses adaptive learning rates for the training of WFNN controller is driven via a Lyapunov stability analysis to guarantee the fast convergence, that is, learning rates are adaptively determined to rapidly minimize the state errors of a mobile robot. Finally, to evaluate the performance of the proposed direct adaptive control system using the WFNN controller, we compare the control performance of the WFNN controller with those of the FNN, the WNN and the WFM controllers.

  • This paper describes the fault diagnosis method to order to construct CIM in complex system with hierarchical structure similar to human body structure. Complex system is divided into unit, item and component. For diagnosing this hierarchical complex system, it is necessary to implement a special neural network. Fault diagnosis system can forecast faults in a system and decide from the signal information of current machine state. Comparing with other diagnosis system for a single fault, the developed system deals with multiple fault diagnosis, comprising hierarchical neural network (HNN). HNN consists of four level neural network, i.e. first is fault symptom classification and second fault diagnosis for item, third is symptom classification and forth fault diagnosis for component. UNIX IPC is used for implementing HNN with multitasking and message transfer between processes in SUN workstation with X-Windows (Motif). We tested HNN at four units, seven items per unit, seven components per item in a complex system. Each one neural network represents a separate process in UNIX operating system, information exchanging and cooperating between each neural network was done by message queue.

  • The forecast of a container traffic has been very important for port and development. Generally, Statistic methods, such as moving average method, exponential smoothing, and regression analysis have been much used for traffic forecasting. But, considering various factors related to the port affect the forecasting of container volume, neural network of parallel processing system can be effective to forecast container volume based on various factors. This study discusses the forecasting of volume by using the neural, network with back propagation learning algorithm. Affected factors are selected based on impact vector on neural network, and these selected factors are used to forecast container volume. The proposed the forecasting algorithm using neural network was compared to the statistic methods.

  • Robot's technology was very simple and repetitive in the past. Nowadays, robots are required to perform intelligent operation. So, path planning has been studied extensively to create a path from start position to the goal position. In this paper, potential field algorithm was used for path planning in dynamic environments. It is used for a path plan of mobile robot because it is elegant mathematical analysis and simplicity. However, there are some problems. The problems are collision risk, avoidance path, time attrition. In order to resolve path problems, we amalgamated potential field algorithm with the artificial neural network system. The input of the neural network system is set using relative velocity and location between the robot and the obstacle. The output of the neural network system is used for the weighting factor of the repulsive potential function. The potential field algorithm problem of mobile robot's path planning can be improved by using artificial neural network system. The suggested algorithm was verified by simulations in various dynamic environments.

Approximate Life Cycle Assessment of Classified Products using Artificial Neural Network and Statistical Analysis in Conceptual Product Design (개념 설계 단계에서 인공 신경망과 통계적 분석을 이용한 제품군의 근사적 전과정 평가)

  • In the early phases of the product life cycle, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is recently used to support the decision-making fer the conceptual product design and the best alternative can be selected based on its estimated LCA and its benefits. Both the lack of detailed information and time for a full LCA fur a various range of design concepts need the new approach fer the environmental analysis. This paper suggests a novel approximate LCA methodology for the conceptual design stage by grouping products according to their environmental characteristics and by mapping product attributes into impact driver index. The relationship is statistically verified by exploring the correlation between total impact indicator and energy impact category. Then a neural network approach is developed to predict an approximate LCA of grouping products in conceptual design. Trained learning algorithms for the known characteristics of existing products will quickly give the result of LCA for new design products. The training is generalized by using product attributes for an ID in a group as well as another product attributes for another IDs in other groups. The neural network model with back propagation algorithm is used and the results are compared with those of multiple regression analysis. The proposed approach does not replace the full LCA but it would give some useful guidelines fer the design of environmentally conscious products in conceptual design phase.

  • Enterprises need to monitor systems for reliable IT service operations to quickly detect and respond to events affecting the service, thereby preventing failures. Events in non-critical systems can be seen as a precursor to critical system incidents. Therefore, event relationship analysis in the operation of IT services can proactively recognize and prevent faults by identifying non-critical events and their relationships with incidents. This study used the Recurrent Neural Network and Long Short Term Memory techniques to create a model to analyze event relationships in a system and to verify which models are suitable for analyzing event relationships. Verification has shown that both models are capable of analyzing event relationships and that RNN models are more suitable than LSTM models. Based on the pattern of events occurring, this model is expected to support the prediction of the next occurrence of events and help identify the root cause of incidents to help prevent failures and improve the quality of IT services.

  • Artificial neural networks (ANN) have successfully applied into various areas. But, How to effectively established network is the one of the critical problem. This study will focus on this problem and try to extensively study. Firstly, four different learning algorithms ANNs were constructed. The learning algorithms include backpropagation, simulated annealing, genetic algorithm, and tabu search. The experimental results of the above four different learning algorithms were tested by statistical analysis. The training RMS, training time, and testing RMS were used as the comparison criteria.

  • This study examined the forecasting of instant messinger's users choice using neural network. We used the statistical methods which were Logistic Regression, MDA(Multiple Discriminant Analysis), and ANN(Artificial Neural Network). In the result, the forecasting performance of the ANN was better than conventional model(Logistic Regression, MDA).

The Generation of SPOT True Color Image Using Neural Network Algorithm

  • In an attempt to enhance the visual effect of SPOT image, this study develops a neural network algorithm to transform SPOT false color into simulated true color. The method has been tested using Landsat TM and SPOT images. The qualitative and quantitative comparisons indicate that the striking similarity can be found between the true and simulated true images in terms of the visual looks and the statistical analysis.
