A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is characterized by multi-hop wireless connectivity, frequently changing network topology with mobile nodes and the efficiency of the dynamic routing protocol plays an important role in the performance of the network. In this paper, the performance of five routing protocols for MANET is compared by using OPNET modeler: AODV, DSR, GRP, OLSR and TORA. The various performance metrics are examined, such as packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and routing overhead with varying data traffic, number of nodes and mobility. In our simulation results, OLSR shows the best performance in terms of data delivery ratio in static networks, while AODV has the best performance in mobile networks with moderate data traffic. When comparing proactive protocols (OLSR, GRP) and reactive protocols (AODV, DSR) with varying data traffic in the static networks, proactive protocols consistently presents almost constant overhead while the reactive protocols show a sharp increase to some extent. When comparing each of proactive protocols in static and mobile networks, OLSR is better than GRP in the delivery ratio while overhead is more. As for reactive protocols, DSR outperforms AODV under the moderate data traffic in static networks because it exploits caching aggressively and maintains multiple routes per destination. However, this advantage turns into disadvantage in high mobility networks since the chance of the cached routes becoming stale increases.
With the increase of demand for electricity power, new construction and expansion of transmission lines for transport have been required. However, it has been difficult to be realized by such opposition from environmental groups and residents. Therefore, the development of techniques for effective use of existing transmission lines is more needed. In this paper, the major variables to affect the allowable transmission capacity in an overhead transmission lines were selected and the dynamic line rating (DLR) method using artificial neural networks reflecting unique environment-heat properties was proposed. To prove the proposed method, the analyzed results using the artificial neural network were compared with the ones obtained from the existing method. The analyzed results using the proposed method showed an error of 0.9% within ${\pm}$, which was to be practicable.
Human detection techniques in outdoor scenes have been studied for a long time to watch suspicious movements or to keep someone from danger. However there are few methods of human detection in overhead or near-field view scenes, while lots of human detection methods in far-field view scenes have been developed. In this paper, a set of five features useful for human detection in overhead view scenes and another set of four useful features in near-field view scenes are suggested. Eight feature-candidates are first extracted by analyzing geometrically varying characteristics of moving objects in samples of video sequences. Then highly contributed features for each view scene to classifying human from other moving objects are selected among them by using a neural network learning technique. Through experiments with hundreds of moving objects, we found that each set of features is very useful for human detection and classification accuracy for overhead view and near-field view scenes was over 90%. The suggested sets of features can be used effectively in a PTZ camera based surveillance system where both the overhead and near-field view scenes appear.

This letter proposes an efficient kernel-based partitioning algorithm for reducing area and power dissipation in combinational circuit designs using don't-care sets. The proposed algorithm decreases power dissipation by partitioning a given circuit using a kernel extracted from the logic. The proposed algorithm also reduces the area overhead by minimizing duplicated gates in the partitioned sub-circuits. The partitioned subcircuits are further optimized utilizing observability don't-care sets. Experimental results for the MCNC benchmarks show that the proposed algorithm synthesizes circuits that on the average consume 22.5% less power and have 12.7% less area than circuits generated by previous algorithms based on a precomputation scheme.

ZigBee Network is enabling technology for home automation, surveillance and monitoring system. For better secure network environment, secure and robust security model is important. The paper proposes an application, attribute-based proxy re-encryption on ZigBee networks. The method can distribute the authority to designated sensor nodes to decrypt re-encrypted ciphertext with associated attributes. However, a previous method is required to compute complex pairing operations. The high complexity is not suited to low resource device sensor networks, and it does not provide routing security either. To resolve these problems, we present a novel mechanism. The method can reduce overhead by imposing overhead to full function devices and ensure routing paths as well.
In this paper, adaptive channel borrowing approach fuzzy neural networks for load balancing (ACB-FNN) is presented to maximized the number of served calls and the depending on asymmetries traffic load problem. In a wireless network, the call's arrival rate, the call duration and the communication overhead between the base station and the mobile switch center are vague and uncertain. A new load balancing algorithm with cell involved negotiation is also presented in this paper. The ACB-FNN exhibits better learning abilities, optimization abilities, robustness, and fault-tolerant capability thus yielding better performance compared with other algorithms. It aims to efficiently satisfy their diverse quality-of-service (QoS) requirements. The results show that our algorithm has lower blocking rate, lower dropping rate, less update overhead, and shorter channel acquisition delay than previous methods.
The central challenge in the design of ad-hoc networks is the development of dynamic routing protocol that efficiently finds route between mobile nodes. Several routing protocols such as DSR, AODV and DSDV have been proposed in the literature to facilitate communication in such dynamically changing network topology. In this paper, a Node Transition Probability (NTP) based routing algorithm, which determines stable routes using the received power from all other neighboring nodes is proposed. NTP based routing algorithm is designed and implemented using Global Mobile Simulator (GloMoSim), a scalable network simulator. The performance of this routing algorithm is studied for various mobility models and throughput, control overhead, average end-to-end delay, and percentage of packet dropped are compared with the existing routing protocols. This algorithm shows acceptable performance under all mobility conditions. The results show that this algorithm maximizes the bandwidth utilization during heavy traffic with lesser overhead.
