We discuss the problem of resource reservation, such as bandwidth, for delay sensitive application in wireless networking environment. As multimedia application is becoming a critical role of the current mobile network, the resource reservation become very important to support the real-time service. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a new resource reservation protocol, called Split Reservation Protocol, in wireless network. The simulation results show that our proposed protocol outperforms an existing protocol called MPSVP in terms of network overhead.

The proposed privacy preserving scheme has identified the drawbacks of existing schemes in Vehicular Networks. This prototype enhances the number of nodes by decreasing the cluster size. This algorithm is integrated with the whale optimization algorithm and Block Chain Technology. A set of results are done through the NS-2 simulator in the direction to check the effectiveness of proposed algorithm. The proposed method shows better results than with the existing techniques in terms of Delay, Drop, Delivery ratio, Overhead, throughout under the denial of attack.
ROME(Region-based Overlay Multicast in MANET)을 제안한다.
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are used to collect various data in environment monitoring applications. A spatial clustering may reduce energy consumption of data collection by partitioning the WSN into a set of spatial clusters with similar sensing data. For each cluster, only a few sensor nodes (samplers) report their sensing data to a base station (BS). The BS may predict the missed data of non-samplers using the spatial correlations between sensor nodes. ASAP is a representative data collection algorithm using the spatial clustering. It periodically reconstructs the entire network into new clusters to accommodate to the change of spatial correlations, which results in high message overhead. In this paper, we propose a new data collection algorithm, name EPDC (Energy-efficient Periodic Data Collection). Unlike ASAP, EPDC identifies a specific cluster consisting of many dissimilar sensor nodes. Then it reconstructs only the cluster into subclusters each of which includes strongly correlated sensor nodes. EPDC also tries to reduce the message overhead by incorporating a judicious probabilistic model transfer method. We evaluate the performance of EPDC and ASAP using a simulation model. The experiment results show that the performance improvement of EPDC is up to 84% compared to ASAP.
TCP, which was developed on the basis of wired links, supposes that packet losses are caused by network congestion. In a wireless network, however, packet losses due to data corruption occur frequently. Since TCP does not distinguish loss types, it applies its congestion control mechanism to non-congestion losses as well as congestion losses. As a result, the throughput of TCP is degraded. To solve this problem of TCP over wireless links, previous researches, such as split-connection and end-to-end schemes, tried to distinguish the loss types and applied the congestion control to only congestion losses; yet they do nothing for non-congestion losses. We propose a novel transport protocol for wireless networks. The protocol called VS-TCP (Variable Segment size Transmission Control Protocol) has a reaction mechanism for a non-congestion loss. VS-TCP varies a segment size according to a non-congestion loss rate, and therefore enhances the performance. If packet losses due to data corruption occur frequently, VS-TCP decreases a segment size in order to reduce both the retransmission overhead and packet corruption probability. If packets are rarely lost, it increases the size so as to lower the header overhead. Via simulations, we compared VS-TCP and other schemes. Our results show that the segment-size variation mechanism of VS-TCP achieves a substantial performance enhancement.
Current on-demand ad-hoc routing protocols are not appropriate for wireless mesh networks (WMNs), because flooding-based route discovery is both redundant and expensive in terms of control message overhead. In this paper, we propose an efficient on-demand routing approach with directional flooding (DF), which is suitable for the WMNs with limited mobility. In the route discovery process to reach a gateway, our DF scheme can reduce the number of route request (RREQ) packets broadcast by using a restricted directional flooding technique. Simulation results show that ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) with DF (AODV-DF) can significantly reduce routing overhead by RREQ packets and enhance overall performance compared with the original AODV.

There are various research challenges in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) that need to be focused until an extensive deployment of it becomes conceivable. Design and development of a scalable routing algorithm for VANETs is one of the critical issue due to frequent path disruptions caused by the vehicle's mobility. This study aims to provide a novel road-aware routing protocol for vehicular networks named as Two-level hierarchical Hybrid Road-Aware (THERA) routing for vehicular ad hoc networks. The proposed protocol is designed explicitly for inter-vehicle communication. In THERA, roads are distributed into non-overlapping road segments to reduce the routing overhead. Unlike other protocols, discovery process does not flood the network with packet broadcasts. Instead, THERA uses the concept of Gateway Vehicles (GV) for the discovery process. In addition, a route between source and destination is flexible to changing topology, as THERA only requires road segment ID and destination ID for the communication. Furthermore, Road-Aware routing reduces the traffic congestion, bypasses the single point of failure, and facilitates the network management. Finally yet importantly, this paper also proposes a probabilistical model to estimate a path duration for each road segment using the highway mobility model. The flexibility of the proposed protocol is evaluated by performing extensive simulations in NS3. We have used SUMO simulator to generate real time vehicular traffic on the roads of Gangnam, South Korea. Comparative analysis of the results confirm that routing overhead for maintaining the network topology is smaller than few previously proposed routing algorithms.
