유선 네트워크 장비의 에너지 소모량과 절약 잠재성 연구 (A study of energy consumption and savings potential in wired network equipment)

  • 인터넷의 규모가 확대됨에 따라, 인터넷의 에너지 소모와 GHG(Green House Gas) 배출에 대한 문제는 최근의 새로운 이슈로 등장하였다. 그러나 이러한 문제를 다루는 인터넷 그리닝(Greening)에 대한 관심은 주로 엣지(Edge) 장비에 집중되어 있으며, 과도한 네트워크 연결성으로 인한 유선 네트워크 장비의 에너지 낭비량과 절약 잠재성에 대해서는 깊이 있는 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 유선 네트워크에서 에너지 효율성에 대한 관심의 배경과 연구의 타당성을 환경적, 경제적, 에너지 사용의 측면에서 상세히 제시한다. 그리고 네크워크 장비에서의 에너지 소모량과 절약 잠재성을 추정하고 도출한 데이터를 바탕으로 유선 네트워크 장비의 에너지 소모의 주된 요인을 분석하여, 향후 미래 인터넷 기술의 발전 방향을 제시한다.

  • In this paper, propose an algorithm to improve network lifetime by equally consuming energy of LEACH - Mobile sensor nodes. LEACH is one of energy efficient protocols. However, we did not consider the mobility of nodes. Therefore, the transmission reception success rate of the moving data is reduced. LEACH-Mobile is a protocol that has improved the drawbacks of these LEACH. However, since LEACH-Mobile has a larger number of data packets and consumes more energy than LEACH, it has a disadvantage that the lifetime of the network is short. In order to improvement these disadvantage, Based on the average of the remaining energy of the node, cluster heads are elected with a number of nodes whose energies are larger than the average of the remaining energy from the member nodes. After that, by trying to increase the lifetime of the network by equalizing the remaining energy. In to confirm whether improve the lifetime of the network, In this paper, the number of nodes and the position of all nodes are varied for each specific round, the rest energy is equalized, and the algorithm which uniformly selected the cluster head is compared with LEACH.

  • Wireless Sensor Network consists of several sensor nodes, these nodes loss some of their energy after the process of communication. So an energy efficient approach is required to improve the life of the network. In case of broadcast network, LEACH protocol uses an aggregative approach by creating cluster of nodes. Now the major concern is to built such clusters over WSN in an optimized way. This work presents the improvement over LEACH protocol. Hence we have different work environments where the network is having different capacities. The proposed work shows how the life time of the network will improve when the number of nodes varies within the network.

  • Technological advancements taken the health care industry by a storm by embedding sensors in human body to measure their vitals. These smart solutions provide better and flexible health care to patients, and also easy monitoring for the medical practitioners. However, these innovative solutions provide their own set of challenges. The major challenge faced by embedding sensors in body is the issue of lack of infinite energy source. This work presents a meta-heuristic based routing model using modified PSO, and adopts an energy harvesting scheme to improve the network lifetime. The routing process is governed by modifying the fitness function of PSO to include charge, temperature and other vital factors required for node selection. A reactive routing model is adopted to ensure reliable packet delivery. Experiments have been performed and comparisons indicate that the proposed Energy Harvesting and Modified PSO (EHMP) model demonstrates low overhead, higher network lifetime and better network stability.

  • The most of important thing when we design a Wireless Sensor Network is resources. You have to consider energy efficient operation When you design Wireless Sensor Network. Because Sensor devices have a limited resources. In this paper, we proposed energy efficiency localization technique in Wireless Sensor Network. We used Cell ID technique for location search. This method can reduce power consumption and the network life time will be extension.

Link Quality Based Transmission Power Control in IEEE 802.15.4 for Energy Conservation

  • One of the major challenges in the design of wireless sensor network (WSN) is to reduce the energy consumption of sensor nodes for prolonging the network lifetime. In the sensor network, communication is the most energy consuming event. Therefore, most of the energy saving techniques conserve energy by adjusting different parameters of the trans-receiver. Among them, one of the promising methods is the transmission power control (TPC). In this paper, we investigated the effects of the link quality based TPC scheme employed to the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for energy saving. The simulation results demonstrated that the link quality based TPC scheme works effectively in conserving energy as compared to the conventional IEEE 802.15.4.

  • Based on the current solutions to the problem of energy hole, this paper proposed a nonuniform node distribution clustering algorithm, NNDC. Firstly, we divide the network into rings, and then have an analysis and calculation on nodes' energy consumption in each ring of the network when clustering algorithm is applied to collect data. We also put forward a scheme of nonuniform node distribution on the basis of the proportion of nodes' energy consumption in each ring, and change nodes' active/hibernating states under density control mechanism when network coverage is guaranteed. Simulation shows NNDC algorithm can satisfyingly balance nodes' energy consumption and effectively avoid the problem of energy hole.

  • Energy harvesting sensor networks have the ability to collect energy from the environment to overcome the power limitations of traditional sensor networks. The sensor network, which has a limited transmission range, delivers data to the destination node through a multi-hop method. The routing protocol should consider the power situation of nodes, which is determined by the residual power and energy harvesting rate. At this time, if only considering the magnitude of the power, power imbalance can occur among nodes and it can induce instantaneous power shortages and reduction of network lifetime. In this paper, we designed a routing protocol that considers the balance of power as well as the residual power and energy harvesting rate.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서 클러스터링 기법은 클러스터를 형성하여 데이터를 통합한 후 한 번에 전송해서 에너지를 효율적으로 사용하는 기법이다. 클러스터 그룹 모델은 클러스터링에 기반을 두지만 이전의 기법과 달리 클러스터 헤드에 집중된 에너지 과부하를 클러스터 그룹 헤드와 클러스터 헤드로 분산시켜서 전체 에너지 소모량을 줄인다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 클러스터 그룹 모델에서 에너지 소모 모델의 임계값에 따라 최적의 클러스터 그룹 수와 클러스터 수를 구하고 이를 이용하여 센서 네트워크 전체 에너지 소모량을 최소화하고 네트워크 수명을 최대화한다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 클러스터 그룹 모델이 이전의 클러스터링 기법보다 네트워크 에너지 효율이 향상되었음을 보였다.
