In this paper, we propose a MAC(Media Access Control) protocol based on flexible RWT(RTS Waiting Time) for underwater mobile ad-hoc networks with a three-way handshaking mechanism. This protocol can solve a problem of collision between RTS(Request-To-Send) and CTS(Clear-To-Send) packets in existing MACA(Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) protocol. This proposed MAC protocol is also an effective protocol which can apply to underwater mobile ad-hoc networks in a real field by using implementable technologies. We set flexible RTS Waiting Time called RWT, considering various characteristics of underwater environment. It is possible to support variable network size according to node mobility. Finally, we conduct a performance evaluation between proposed MAC protocol and existing MACA based MAC protocol through practical implementation and experiment. As a result, we verify the superiority of our proposed MAC protocol in terms of throughput, packet drop rate, average transmission time, energy consumption and channel utilization.

Highlighted by recent security breaches including Google, Western Energy Company, and the Stuxnet infiltration of Iranian nuclear sites, Cyber warfare attacks pose a threat to national and global security. In particular, targeted attacks such as APT exploiting a high degree of stealthiness over a long period, has extended their victims from PCs and enterprise servers to government organizations and critical national infrastructure whereas the existing security measures exhibited limited capabilities in detecting and countermeasuring them. As a solution to fight against such attacks, we designed and implemented a security monitoring system, which shares security information and helps cooperative countermeasure. The proposed security monitoring system collects security event logs from heterogeneous security devices, analyses them, and visualizes the security status using 3D technology. The capability of the proposed system was evaluated and demonstrated throughly by deploying it under real network in a ISP for a week.

Around a toll plaza, vehicles do such maneuvers as slow down, stop, and speed up to pay their tolls when they use ordinary toll gates. They can be expected more fuel consumptions compared to the vehicles which use the Hi-pass, a Korean type of Electronic Toll Collection System(ETCS). To measure the exact amount of difference between the two gas consumptions, we equipped a test vehicle with a measurement system and constructed a model toll gate on our test field. Through the field tests on fuel consumptions, we could confirm a 36.7 % of energy saving when the test car used the Hi-pass. Then we projected the result on the total traffic volumes which had used national expressway network for five months from January 2009. Projected to the whole traffic, potential cost savings reached 5.34 billion won. We expect this result be frequently mentioned of to prove the fuel efficiency of the Hi-pass system.

In this paper, we studied line coding technology tendency for high speed data communication at LED-ID (Identification) communication system in indoor environment. A LED-ID technology is a communication using visible ray (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. The LED-ID system has the above advantages about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. Therefore, the transmission by light waves is more suitable for wireless networks than by radio waves. We compared with the NRZ, AMI, 4B5B, HDB3, 8B10B line coding for efficient in error detection and serves data transmission of high speed.

In this paper, a high efficiency 2.45 GHz rectenna with a microstrip patch antenna and a dual-mode band-pass filter in which the 2nd and 3rd harmonics are suppressed, is presented. From the experimental results, the 2.45GHz rectenna using 3rd harmonic suppressed dual-mode BPF shows the conversion efficiency of 41.6% with incident power density of 0.3 mW/cm2 and the received power of 1.66 mW. This result shows high conversion efficiency because the received power of this rectenna is lower than other rectennas to be compared with. This rectenna can be applied to the WPT (Wireless Power Transmission) field for energy harvesting. Also, it is expected to be used to provide the stand-by power for the low power devices for USN, and wireless power transfer in sensor application of MEMS devices.
Although we have seen recently increasing number of eco-villages, any eco-village is not registered in Global Eco-village Network. It is important to review the definition of eco-villages and to provide useful basic information for future eco-villages. The main research aim is to analyze landscape characteristics of community garden and common spaces and to identify ecological symbolism of landscape created by residents in eco-villages. Seven eco-villages in Germany, Denmark and UK were selected and the following aspects were investigated through field survey; the settlement background, social and economical aspect, architectural specifications, recycled energy, and landscape characteristics of external spaces in eco-villages. The result indicated that the landscape of eco-village did intend neither to return to primitive society nor to control nature by technology. It intended to coexistence with nature. Primitive nature is symbolically restored and people who have it in mind strongly intend to grow together this common sense. Landscape creation has important role in creating common relationship between human living and nature. When we regard it conceptually as the eco-symbolism in landscape design of community garden, it presented the meaningful relationship with landscape and human life. It is not expression of landscape materiality and designed form but sense of place and landscape image. Landscape design would be expected to reveal the life stage and cycle from designed physical form and materiality through as time goes by when it is part of environmental circulation process by means of human living as meaningful relationship.
Available VLBI sources at high frequencies (e.g. >22GHz) are very limited - mainly due to atmospheric fluctuations that degrade coherence time and a power-law energy distribution of particles in case of AGNs. However, simultaneous multi-frequency VLBI receiving system of the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) and its powerful VLBI phase calibration technique offer benefits in finding more weak sources at millimeter wavelengths. Based on this aspect, multi-frequency AGN survey with the KVN (MASK) project, which aims to densify an existing a VLBI catalog of extragalactic radio sources at 22/43/86/129GHz is proposed as a KVN legacy program. We selected 1220 sources of AGNs that include known VLBI sources and new fringe-detected sources using the KVN at K-band (22GHz). Among them, 138 sources were observed as pilot experiments at 22/43/86/129GHz simultaneously and excellent VLBI detection results are achieved. Therefore, we expect that MASK will open a new era in VLBI science at millimeter wavelengths by providing unprecedented number of available sources in the Universe.

Emergency lights and exit signs are an indispensable part of safety precautions for effective evacuation in case of emergency in public buildings. These emergency sign indicates safe escape routes and emergency doors, using an internationally recognizable sign. However visibility of those signs drops drastically in case of emergency situations like fire smoke, etc. and loss of visibility causes serious problems for safety evacuation. This paper propose a novel emergency light and exit sign built-in with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacon to assist the emergency self-guiding evacuation using devices for crisis and emergency management to avoid panic condition inside the buildings. In this approach, the emergency light and exit sign with the BLE beacons deployed in the indoor environments and the smart devices detect their indoor positions, direction to move, and next exit sign position from beacon messages and interact with map server in the Internet / Intranet over the available LTE and/or Wi-Fi network connectivity. The map server generate an optimal emergency exit path according to the nearest emergency exit based on a novel graph generation method for less route computation for each smart device. All emergency exit path data interfaces among three system components, the emergency exit signs, map server, and smart devices, have been defined for modular implementation of our emergency evacuation system. The proposed exit sign experimental system has been deployed and evaluated in real-time building environment thoroughly and gives a good evidence that the modular design of the proposed exit sign system and a novel approach to compute emergency exit path route based on the BLE beacon message, map server, and smart devices is competitive and viable.

Safety accidents are frequently occurring in day care centers in recent years. The number of types of safety accidents is bumping into, falling, burning, school bus accident, insertion... etc., and the number of children who have died due to such accidents is increasing steadily every year. Therefore, it is urgent to prevent accidents at day care centers. IoT (Internet of Things) is managed by connecting various sensors and related products from the living space to the Internet in order to prevent them from being dangerous. In particular, IoT products can be automatically controlled by smart phones and sensors anytime and anywhere, thus saving energy, time, convenience and prompt accuracy. This paper proposes a research model to prevent and respond to disasters by using SK LoRa communication network and Arduino, which are Internet access networks for building disaster management in schools, kindergartens and day care centers. And various sensors needed for building disaster management express various safety states in the building and suggests a system that can control the residential environment by transmitting and receiving data to smart phone.

The secure access the lighting, Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), fire safety, and security control boxes of building facilities is the primary objective of future smart buildings. This paper proposes an authorized user access to the electrical, lighting, fire safety, and security control boxes in the smart building, by using color grid coded optical camera communication (OCC) with face recognition Technologies. The existing CCTV subsystem can be used as the face recognition security subsystem for the proposed approach. At the same time a smart device attached camera can used as an OCC receiver of color grid code for user access authentication data sent by the control boxes to proceed authorization. This proposed approach allows increasing an authorization control reliability and highly secured authentication on accessing building facility infrastructure. The result of color grid code sequence received by the unauthorized person and his face identification allows getting good results in security and gaining effectiveness of accessing building facility infrastructure. The proposed concept uses the encoded user access authentication information through control box monitor and the smart device application which detect and decode the color grid coded informations combinations and then send user through the smart building network to building management system for authentication verification in combination with the facial features that gives a high protection level. The proposed concept is implemented on testbed model and experiment results verified for the secured user authentication in real-time.
