  • Nowadays is the increasing percentage of the aged in the population. Advanced age shows concern at own health status. So it is needed the home medical instrument which is cheap and connectable to hospital with a LAN or a public network In this paper, We have implemented a ECG (Electrocadiogram) terminal. The ECG terminal is composed of two parts. One is the analog board to remove the baseline drift. The other is the digital board consists of a data aquisition part and data transmission part. The ECG terminal doesn't have the display region to show a ECG curve and uses the modified digital filter to remove the power noise. The ECG terminal transmits a ECG signal with a LAM using TCP/IP. So ECG signal can be seen by the Central Patient Monitor Program connected TCP/IP network.

  • Most online monitoring systems of running currently based on the wired network and local area wireless network generate an increase of administrative costs such as synchronization of data protocol conversion, flexible operation of measurement devices and maintenance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the SMS data transmission protocol which allows multiple data collecting device to manage effectively including implementation method of cdma-based environmental information monitoring system. Also this paper shows operational safety of the proposed protocol and analyzes efficiency of data transfer and operating using SMS.

  • Sensor network for the human approach in a difficult area and a wide range of surveillance and the boundaries for the purpose and mission is the utilization significantly. In this paper we searched important nodes from the surveillance reconnaissance sensor network based on the virtual data. we generated data within the sensor's measurement range in the data transmitted from sensor nodes, and used PCA(Principle Component Analysis) for searching key node. If the important sensor node searched, and we can have easy management and establishing security measures when security problems is happened about nodes. This is for the sensor network in terms of effectiveness and cost-effectively and is directly connected with life span.

  • IEEE 802.15.4 is the standard wireless link technology for low power, low cost, but long lifetime applications including wireless sensor network (WSN). Currently, whether or not IP architecture should be used in WSN over its 802.15.4 link is under dispute. Such kind of arguments may last for a long time without some convincing experimental measurements of real case performances of IP over 802.15.4 implementation, and thus prevent the advance of related research. In RFC4944, IETF proposed the 6LoWPAN specification to enable IPv6 communication over low power, wireless personal area networks. We try to alleviate the dispute and make the direction clearer to the community so as to promote further valuable research in this topic.

  • In this paper, one of reliable schemes of In-ship sensor networks using a Grid-based WPAN is proposed. The proposed scheme is based on a novel grid network which allows a multi-path communication, and is robust, energy efficient. The results demonstrate that the proposed Grid-based WPAN outperforms the IEEE 802.15.4 based network in terms of power efficiency.

  • An advanced vehicle safety system can be constructed by exchanging danger-related information ,such as urgency stop, traffic accident, obstacle, and car trouble, among the vehicles. However, because network topology changes rapidly and frequently due to the mobility of vehicles, it is impossible to configure the network for information forwarding in this environment. In the most of vehicle safety communication applications, an emergency message is propagated in a form of broadcasting. The simple broadcasting causes a lot of problems in terms of efficiency due to multi-hop area and radio collision problem. This paper proposes a method of selective message forwarding with stem and branch structure for propagating the emergency messages. However, the proposed method raise the efficiency of message transmission with the selective forwarding based on the priority assignment as its location. We analyze and evaluate the performance by comparing the proposed scheme with other schemes that are presented in the paper.

  • This paper describes a design of an adaptive baseband modem based on TDMA(time division multiple access) with a relay protocol function for wireless personal area networks. The designed baseband modem is controlled by a master synchronization signal and can be configured a relay network up to 14 hops. For efficient data relay communications, the internal buffer design is optimized by implementing a priority memory bus controller to a single port memory. And the priority memory bus controller is also designed to minimize the number of synthesized logic gates. To implement the synchronization function of the narrowband TDMA relay communication, the number of gates has been reduced by dividing the frame synchronization circuits and the network slot synchronization circuits. By using these methods, the number of gates are used about 37%(34,000 gates) on Xilinx FPGA XC6SLX9 which has 90,000 gates. For the 1024-bit frame size with a 32-bit synchronization word, the communication reception rate is 96.4%. The measured maximum transmission delay of the designed baseband modem is 230.4 msec for the 14-hop relay communication.

  • This paper is on the enhancement of our heuristics for Grade Of Services Steiner Minimum Tree (GOSST) problem that can apply to the design of communication networks offering manifold grade of services in multimedia communication area. GOSST problem known as one of NP-Hard problems asks for a network topology meeting the G-Condition with minimum construction cost. In our prior researches, we proposed some heuristics for the problem. In this paper, we suggest a strategy of G-Condition scrutiny sequence to fortify our previous heuristics. In the experiment results, the ameliorated achieves 71.9% economy of execution times, 28.9% of required Steiner points and 1.1% of network construction costs.

  • Recently, various applications of location trigger service have been required and developed as users of location-based services are increasing. The location trigger is detecting event of entering in, existing in or leaving from pre-specified area, and then alerting by short message service, an e-mall or servicing other pre-defined action to mobile subscribers. The conventional methodology of supporting location trigger is detecting location trigger events as periodical requesting location of mobile communication terminal to location gateway server in mobile communication network. But these conventional methods cause mobile communication interruption when the location trigger services are overloaded; thereby inducing performance of core server to be fell off. So in this paper, we have studied a new location trigger technology, named multilevel location trigger, to reduce mobile core network sewer triggering bottleneck and power consumption caused embedded GPS device of mobile phone. Actually, as design and evaluating the performance of location trigger after building test-bed environment, we contribute toward improving echnology of location trigger.

  • The field-programmable gate array (FPGA) is gaining popularity in industrial automation such as nuclear power plant instrumentation and control (I&C) systems due to the benefits of having non-existence of operating system, minimum software errors, and minimum common reason failures. Separate functions can be processed individually and in parallel on the same integrated circuit using FPGAs in comparison to the conventional microprocessor-based systems used in any plant operations. The use of FPGAs offers the potential to minimize complexity and the accompanying difficulty of securing regulatory approval, as well as provide superior protection against obsolescence. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a new technology for acquiring and processing plant data wirelessly in which sensor nodes are configured for real-time signal processing, data acquisition, and monitoring. ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4) is an open worldwide standard for minimum power, low-cost machine-to-machine (M2M), and internet of things (IoT) enabled wireless network communication. It is always a challenge to follow the specific topology when different Zigbee nodes are placed in a large network such as a plant. The research article focuses on the hardware chip design of different topological structures supported by ZigBee that can be used for monitoring and controlling the different operations of the plant and evaluates the performance in Vitex-5 FPGA hardware. The research work presents a strategy for configuring FPGA with ZigBee sensor nodes when communicating in a large area such as an industrial plant for real-time monitoring.
