  • With the development of IT (Information Technology) technology, embedded system and network technology are combined and used in various environments such as military environment as well as everyday life. In this paper, we propose a new airdropped distributed mobility model (ADMM) modeling the dispersion falling of the direct shot of a cluster bomb, and we compare and analyze some representative MANET routing protocols in ADMM in ns-3 simulator. As a result of the analysis, we show OLSR routing protocol is promising in ADMM environment in the view points of packet delivery ratio (PDR), end to end delay, and jitter. In addition, we propose a new adaptation scheme for OLSR, AND-OLSR (Average Node Distance based adaptive-OLSR) to improve the original OLSR in ADMM environment. The new protocol calculates the average node distance, adapts the period of the control message based on the average node distance increasing rate. Through the simulation study, we show that the proposed AND-OLSR outperforms the original OLSR in PDR and control message overhead.

  • A wireless Ad-hoc network is willing to send and receive data and for other nodes, and it is a temporal network where the nodes with mobility are automatically constituted. This network has been studied to construct networks in the state where there is no infrastructure. The limited nodes and its frequent moving in a wireless Ad-hoc network have resulted in frequent network disconnection. Therefore, the data transmission rate should be secured in a wireless Ad-hoc network. This study proposes the method to improve QoS of data transmission considering the mobility of nodes that respond to path searching by means of AOMDV routing protocol. By applying the suggested method, it is possible to raise the transmission rate by improving the reliability of transmission path.

  • MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network)s have been researched primary at routing protocols and at the guarantees of QoS(Quality of Service) for mobile environments. Otherwise the Ubiquitous Sensor Networks (USNs) have some limitations in power energies and in processing of sensing data, as well as their network topologies are frequently changed by fading off and node failures. Thus we should redesign network protocols with concerning to energy efficiency for the USNs above all. In this paper, we focus on the protocol interface for managing for USNs based on the surveys. And then we figure the topology of USNs out and design the network protocol interface to make power saved, with data gathering and processing more efficient using our designed packet structures.

  • Recent advances in wireless communication technology promotes many researches related to sensor network and brings several proposals to fit into various types of sensor network communication. The research direction for sensor network is divided into the method to maximize an energy efficiency and security researches that has not been remarkable so far. To maximize an energy efficiency, the methods to support data aggregation and cluster-head selection algorithm are proposed. To strengthen the security, the methods to support encryption techniques and manage a secret key that is applicable to sensor network are proposed, In. However, the combined method to satisfy both energy efficiency and security is in the shell. This paper is devoted to design the protocol that combines an efficient clustering protocol with key management algorithm that is fit into various types of sensor network communication. This protocol may be applied to sensor network systems that deal with sensitive data.

  • In this paper, we explore the utility of recently discovered multiple-antenna techniques (namely MIMO techniques) for medium access control (MAC) design and routing in mobile ad hoc networks. Specifically, we focus on ad hoc networks where the spatial diversity technique is used to combat fading and achieve robustness in the presence of user mobility. We first examine the impact of spatial diversity on the MAC design, and devise a MIMO MAC protocol accordingly. We then develop analytical methods to characterize the corresponding saturation throughput for MIMO multi-hop networks. Building on the throughout analysis, we study the impact of MIMO MAC on routing. We characterize the optimal hop distance that minimizes the end-to-end delay in a large network. For completeness, we also study MAC design using directional antennas for the case where the channel has a strong line of sight (LOS) component. Our results show that the spatial diversity technique and the directional antenna technique can enhance the performance of mobile ad hoc networks significantly.

  • Mobile IP [9] was introduced to help the mobile user to be contacted with a single IP address even though the point-of-access changes. However, mobile IP creates the so-called 'triangle routing' which makes the delays for data packets longer, as well as creating unnecessary traffic at the home network of the mobile user. To overcome this, Route Optimization (RO) for mobile IP [1] was proposed, which eliminated the triangle routing phenomenon. But [l] requires that the network protocol stack of all existing hosts to change. Privacy is also another matter to be considered. This paper introduces a scheme called Peer Agent scheme to implement RO for mobile IP without requiring existing hosts to change. Method to preserve location privacy while still enabling RO is also considered.

  • As sensor network technologies developed, the sphere field of application is escalated unfortunately, the applicable size is smaller than the actual quantity of cattle in feedlot. In this paper, we simulated and evaluated biological data transmission performance of virtual cattle feedlot. Deducted conclusions show us a more efficient cattle control scenario is required and effective routing protocol design and modification are needed.

  • A wireless sensor network consisting of a large number of nodes with limited battery power should minimize energy consumption at each node to prolong the network lifetime. To improve the sensitivity of wireless sensor networks, an efficient scheduling algorithm and energy management technology for minimizing the energy consumption at each node is desired. ill this paper, we propose energy-aware routing mechanism for maximum lifetime and to optimize the solution quality for sensor network maintenance and to relay node from its adjacent cluster heads according to the node"s residual energy and its distance to the base station. Proposed protocol may minimize the energy consumption at each node, thus prolong the lifetime of the system regardless of where the sink is located outside or inside the cluster. Simulation results of proposed scheme show that our mechanism balances the energy consumption well among all sensor nodes and achieves an obvious improvement on the network lifetime. To verify propriety using NS-2, proposed scheme constructs sensor networks adapt to current model and evaluate consumption of total energy, energy consumption of cluster head, average energy dissipation over varying network areas with HEED and LEACH-C.

  • The Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) has two main problems to be overcome due to high mobility and frequently changing density: one is short link duration time and the other is high packet loss ratio. To solve the problems, there have been many studies to predict vehicular mobility. Most of the studies try to enhance link expire time and link reliability, however the distance between two relay nodes becomes too short to have high network throughput. In this paper, we propose a new routing algorithm that considers both link expire time and network throughput in the VANET. The proposed algorithm aims to find path with long link expire time and high throughput. Our simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the legacy greedy algorithm and its variants.

  • Compared to terrestrial RF communications, underwater acoustic communications have several limitations such as limited bandwidth, high level of fading effects, and a large underwater propagation delay. In this paper, in order to tackle those limitations of underwater communications and to make it possible to form a large underwater monitoring systems, we propose a hierarchical underwater network architecture, which consists of underwater sensors, clusterheads, underwater/surface sink nodes, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). In the proposed architecture, for the maximization of packet delivery ratio and the minimization of underwater sensor's energy consumption, a hybrid routing protocol is used. More specifically, cluster members use Tree based routing to transmit sensing data to clusterheads. AUVs on optimal trajectory movements collect the aggregated data from clusterhead and finally forward the data to the sink node. Also, in order to minimize the maximum travel distance of AUVs, an Integer Linear Programming based algorithm is employed. Performance analysis through simulations shows that the proposed architecture can achieve a higher data delivery ratio and lower energy consumption than existing routing schemes such as gradient based routing and geographical forwarding.
