  • For real-time wireless sensor network applications, it is essential to provide different levels of quality of service (QoS) such as reliability, low latency, and fault-tolerant traffic control. To meet these requirements, an (m,k)-firm based real-time routing protocol has been proposed in our prior work, including a novel local transmission status indicator called local DBP (L_DBP). In this paper, a fault recovery scheme for (m,k)-firm real-time streams is proposed to improve the performance of our prior work, by contributing a delay-aware forwarding candidates selection algorithm for providing restricted redundancy of packets on multipath with bounded delay in case of transmission failure. Each node can utilize the evaluated stream DBP (G_DBP) and L_DBP values as well as the deadline information of packets to dynamically define the forwarding candidate set. Simulation results show that for real-time service, it is possible to achieve both reliability and timeliness in the fault recovery process, which consequently avoids dynamic failure and guarantees meeting the end-to-end QoS requirement.

  • MPOA proposed and standardized by the ATM Forum is a protocol tllat provides effective bridging and routing for ATM networks in a diverse network environment. Its plimary goal is to transfer unicast data effectively among the subnets. In this paper, MPOA components are implemented using the SDL(Specification and Description Language) which the ITU has standardized for the development of communication systems. In addition, MPOA procedures for various operations such as address translation for packets from upper layers, Ingress/Egress cache management and shortcut configuration, are examined with tlle help of the SDT(SDL Design Too]) simulator.

  • Recently, the improvement in the data communication networks in terms of availability and reliability is emerging as a critical issue. In this context, the high availability and reliability of routers that control data flow and routing path between networks on the data communication network are being recognized as critical problems. Many methods for providing high availability to minimize the loss cost caused by the failure of a router are being studied. This paper proposed a BGP session takeover method using the Docker to support the high availability of the BGP session and to improve the takeover performance.

  • It is strongly believed that multicast will become one of the most promising services on internet for the next generation. Multicast service can be deployed either on network-layer or application-layer. IP multicast (network-layer multicast) is implemented by network nodes (i.e., routers) and avoids multiple copies of the same datagram on the same link. Despite the conceptual simplicity of IP multicast and its obvious benefits, it has not been widely deployed since there remain many unresolved issues. As an alternative to IP multicast, overlay multicast (application-layer multicast) implements the multicast functionality at end hosts rather than routers. This may require more overall bandwidth than IP multicast because duplicate packets travel the same physical links multiple times, but it provides an inexpensive, deployable method of providing point-to-multipoint group communication. In this paper we develop an efficient method applied greedy algorithm for solving two models of overlay multicast routing protocol that is aimed to construct MDST (Minimum Diameter Spanning Tree : minimum cost path from a source node to all its receivers) and MST (Minimum Spanning Tree : minimum total cost spanning all the members). We also simulate and analyze MDST and MST.

  • Recently, the ocean field researches such as offshore plant, ocean survey and underwater monitoring systems are garnering the attention from both academy and industry. However, the communication in underwater environment is very difficult because of the unique irregular features in water. This is the reason that the application of terrestrial protocols to the water environment is not proper. This paper proposes a routing algorithm that can enhance communication reliability by utilizing channel properties in underwater environment. We address two problems that lead to the poor communication performance, signal attenuation and multi-path problem in water. Overcoming these problems, the proposed algorithm ensures high packet delivery ratio and low transmission delay. Also, this paper evaluates the performance through simulation.

  • To guarantee QoS (Quality of Service), routers should determine routing paths satisfying service requirements, based on link state information as well as network topology. Link status database (LSD) in routers should be efficiently managed to effectively reflect the current state of all links. However, there is a trade off between the exact reflection of the current link status and its update cost. For exactly reflecting the current link status, each router immediately notifies its neighbors that link state information is changed. This may degrade performance of the router due to the processing of link state update messages. On the other side, if the current link state information is not updated appropriately, a route setup request can be rejected because of the discrepancy between the current link state information and previously updated link state information in LSD. In this paper, we propose a traffic variation based link state update algorithm for adaptively controlling the generation of link state update messages and compare its performance with those of four existing algorithms by intensive simulations.

  • Recently, AODV routing protocol which one of the table driven method for the purpose data transmission between nodes has been broadly used in mobile wireless sensor networks. An existing AODV has a little overhead of routing packets because of keeping the routing table for activity route and re-routes to recovery the routes in route discontinuation. However that has faults in that excesses useless of the network bandwidth to recovery the route and takes a lone time to recovery the route. This paper proposes an efficient route recovery method for AODV based on wireless sensor networks in connection breaks. The proposed method. The propose method controls the number of RREQ message considering the energy's node and distance between nodes to restrict the flooding range of RREQ message while expanding the range of local repair. In test results, the proposed method are compared to existing method, the number of drops decrease 15.43% and the delay time for re-route decrease 0.20sec.

  • When a spacecraft in deep space falls into an abnormal state, an emergency communication channel between ground and the spacecraft is essential in order to perform analysis to the cause of the anomaly, and to remedy the spacecraft from the distressed state. Because the recovery actions generally comprises of long and complicated sequences of commands, the transmission of the recovery commands may require a reliable and a delay tolerant networking technology based on bundle routing. While the delay tolerant networking protocol becomes a prominent method interfacing ground and space into a internet-like Solar system network because it can address the issues of the severe communication problems in deep space, the communication system on the spacecraft which based on space packet protocol cannot use the delay tolerant networking technology directly. So a community of the consultative committee for space data systems starts a discussion of the first-hop last-hop mechanism to establish a feasible concept and standardization. This paper presents an enhanced concept of the first-hop last-hop by applying it a virtual cislunar communication environment, and we believe this contributes to make a way applicable to an interoperable relay concept of the first hop last hop between the delay tolerant networking and space packet protocol standard.

  • Ad hoc network is the network which can be considered without a pre-constructed infrastructure, and a mobile node can join the network freely. However, the participation of the mobile nodes to the ad hoc network brings up much burden of re-computation for new routes, because it leads to losing the connection frequently. And, also, it causes serious security problem to be broadcasted wrong information by the malicious user. Therefore, it needs authentication against the mobile nodes. To make that Possible, we have two methods: single CA and distributed CA. In the case of CA method, the wireless network can be collapsed owing to expose the CA, but still the distributed CA method is a little more safe than previous one because it needs attacks toward a lot of CAs to collapse the network We can consider Secret Share scheme as the method that constructs the distributed CA system, but it is weak when the network size is too large. In this paper, we suggest hierarchical structure for the authentication method to solve this problem, and we will show the results of simulation for this suggestion.

  • Static wireless multi-hop networks, such as wireless mesh networks and wireless sensor networks have proliferated in recent years because of they are easy to deploy and have low installation cost. Two key measures are used to evaluate the performance of a multicast tree algorithm or protocol : end-to-end delay and the number of transmissions. End-to-end delay is the most important measure in terms of QoS because it affects the total throughput in wireless networks. Delay is similar to the hop count or path length from the source to each destination and is directly related to packet success ratio. In wireless networks, each node uses the air medium to transmit data, and thus, bandwidth consumption is related to the number of transmission nodes. A network has many transmitting nodes, which will cause many collisions and queues because of congestion. In this paper, we optimize two metrics through a guaranteed delay scheme. We provide an integer linear programming formulation to minimize the number of transmissions with a guaranteed hop count and preprocessing to solve the aforementioned problem. We extend this scheme not only with the guaranteed minimum hop count, but also with one or more guaranteed delay bounds to compromise two key metrics. We also provide an explanation of the proposed heuristic algorithm and show its performance and results.
