Internet technology opens up another domain for building future CAD/CAM environment. The environment will be global, network-centric, and spatially distributed. In this paper, we present a new approach to network-centric virtual prototyping (NetVP) in a distributed design environment. The presented approach combines the current virtual assembly modeling and analysis technique with distributed computing and communication technology fur supporting virtual prototyping activities over the network. This paper focuses on interoperability, shape representation, and geometric processing for distributed virtual prototyping. STEP standard and CORBA-based interfaces allow the bi-directional communication between the CAD model and virtual prototyping model, which makes it possible to solve the problems of interoperability, heterogeneity of platforms, and data sharing. STEP AP203 and AP214 are utilized as a means of transferring and sharing product models. In addition, Attributed Abstracted B-rep (AAB) is introduced as 3D shape abstraction for transparent and efficient transmission of 3D models and for the maintenance of naming consistency between CAD models and virtual prototyping models over the network.

This study explored issues related to the library in the COVID-19 era in YouTube videos in Korea. This study performed social network analysis and topic modeling analysis by collecting 479 YouTube videos, 20,545 words, and 8,379 channels related to COVID-19 and the library from 2019 to 2020. The study results confirmed that YouTube, a social media platform, was used as an important medium to connect users and physical libraries and provide/promote online library services. In the study, major topics and keywords such as quarantine, vlog, and library identity during the COVID-19 pandemic, library services and functions, and introductions and user guides of libraries were derived. Additionally, it was identified that videos about COVID-19 and the library are being produced by various actors (news and media channels, libraries, government agencies, librarians, and individual users). However, the study also identified that the actor network is fragmented through the channel network, showing a low density or weak linkage, and that the centrality of the library in the actor network is weak.

In this paper, a nonlinear modeling of lead rubber bearings(LRBs) was presented by a neural network theory. An shaking table test for a scaled frame model, of which base was isolated by the LRBs, was performed to verify numerical accuracies of the neural network model. White noise and three types of seismic records were adoped as base loads of the shaking table in order to train and generalize the neural network in case of seismic loads, numerical results of the neural network model were evaluated according to different magnitudes of PGA. As results, it is concluded that the presented neural network model has given a good agreement with the experimental data in details and can be useful to a nonlinear modeling of LRBs within prescribed domains.
In this paper, the performances of modeling methods for combining corrections from multiple reference stations for network user were compared and analyzed. The longer the distance between reference station and user is, the more the GPS errors are decorrelated. Based on this point, multiple corrections from reference stations which is constituting a network should be combined properly to be applied for user observation to eliminate GPS errors. There are many widely used conventional modeling methods and they are applied for Compact Network RTK users and user position accuracy is predicted by using residual errors in observation of user. Compact Network RTK is a technique of generating corrections which was developed by Seoul National University. As a result, the horizontal and vertical accuracies were within about 5 cm and 7 cm respectively with 95 % probability for all conventional modeling methods. In addition, we analyzed condition for reference station constellation for modeling method using height information.

Abstraction applied in computer networking hides network details behind a well-defined representation by building a model that captures an essential aspect of the network system. Two current methods of representation are available, one based on graph theory, where a network node is reduced to a point in a graph, and the other the use of non-methodological iconic depictions such as human heads, walls, towers or computer racks. In this paper, we adopt an abstract representation methodology, the thinging machine (TM), proposed in software engineering to model computer networks. TM defines a single coherent network architecture and topology that is constituted from only five generic actions with two types of arrows. Without loss of generality, this paper applies TM to model the area of network monitoring in packet-mode transmission. Complex network documents are difficult to maintain and are not guaranteed to mirror actual situations. Network monitoring is constant monitoring for and alerting of malfunctions, failures, stoppages or suspicious activities in a network system. Current monitoring systems are built on ad hoc descriptions that lack systemization. The TM model of monitoring presents a theoretical foundation integrated with events and behavior descriptions. To investigate TM modeling's feasibility, we apply it to an existing computer network in a Kuwaiti enterprise to create an integrated network system that includes hardware, software and communication facilities. The final specifications point to TM modeling's viability in the computer networking field.

Optimum Ship Routing can be defined as “The selection of an optimum track for a transoceanic crossing by the application of long-range predictions of wind, waves and currents to the knowledge of how the routed vessel reacts to these variables”. This paper treats the methodology how to serve optimum ship routing problem by network modeling and reveals the validity of the network model by some numerical experiments.

In the systems and software modeling field, a conceptual model involves modeling with concepts to support development and design. An example of a conceptual model is a description developed using the Unified Modeling Language (UML). UML uses a model multiplicity formulation approach, wherein a number of models are used to represent alternative views. By contrast, a model singularity approach uses only a single integrated model. Each of these styles of modeling has its strengths and weaknesses. This paper introduces a partial solution to the issue of multiplicity vs. singularity in modeling by adopting UML use cases and class models into the conceptual thinging machine (TM) model. To apply use cases, we adopt the observation that a use-case diagram is a description that shows the internal structure of the part of the system represented by the use case in addition to being useful to people outside of the system. Additionally, the UML class diagram is recast in TM representation. Accordingly, we develop a TMUML model that embraces the TM specification of the UML class diagram and the internal structure extracted from the UML use case. TMUML modeling introduces some of the advantages that have made UML a popular modeling language to TM modeling. At the same time, this approach supplies UML with partial model singularity. The paper details experimentation with TMUML using examples from the literature. Our results indicate that mixing UML with other models could be a viable approach.

A district heating system produces thermal energy and supplies it to a large region. District heating systems can provide higher efficiencies and better pollution control than localized boilers. The heat generated by a district heating system is distributed to the customer via a network of insulated pipes. For the optimal operation of a district heating system, it is important to predict the distributions of pressure, flow rate and temperature of heating fluid within the network of pipes at various operating conditions. In this work, a mathematical modeling was performed to predict the dynamic hydraulic-thermal behaviors of heating fluid in the network of pipes for a district heating system. The mathematical model accounts for the conservations of mass, momentum and energy. In order to verify the validity of modeling, the modeling results were compared with the monitoring data of Gang-nam Branch of District Heating.

This paper presents the optimized approximation of finite element modeling for a complex tool holder spindle using both DOE (Design of Experiment) with Optimal Latin Hypercube (OLH) method and approximation modeling method with Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network structure. The complex tool holder is used for holding a (milling/drilling) tool of a machine tool. The engineering problem of complex tool holder results from the twisting of spindle of tool holder. For this purpose, we present the optimized approximation of finite element modeling for a complex tool holder spindle using both DOE (Design of Experiment) with Optimal Latin Hypercube (OLH) method (specifically a module of $iSight^{(R)}$ FD-3.1) and approximation modeling method with Radial Basis Function (RBF) (another module of $iSight^{(R)}$ FD-3.1) neural network structure
