This paper presents the implementation and performance of the HVIA-GE card, which is a hardware implementation of the Virtual Interface Architecture (VIA) based on Gigabit Ethernet. The HVIA-GE card is a 32-bit/33MHz PCI adapter containing an FPGA for the VIA protocol engine and a Gigabit Ethernet chip set to construct a high performance physical network. HVIA-GE performs virtual-to-physical address translation, Doorbell, and send/receive completion operations in hardware without kernel intervention. In particular, the Address Translation Table (ATT) is stored on the local memory of the HVIA-GE card, and the VIA protocol engine efficiently controls the address translation process by directly accessing the ATT. As a result, the communication overhead during send/receive transactions is greatly reduced. Our experimental results show the maximum bandwidth of 93.7MB/s and the minimum latency of 11.9${\mu}\textrm{s}$. In terms of minimum latency HVIA-GE performs 4.8 times and 9.9 times faster than M-VIA and TCP/IP, respectively, over Gigabit Ethernet. In addition, the maximum bandwidth of HVIA-GE is 50.4% and 65% higher than M-VIA and TCP/IP respectively.

A variety of intelligent application using the sensor network system is being studied. In general, the sensor network consists of nodes which equipped with a variety of sensing module and is utilized to collect environment information. Recently, the demands of multimedia data are increasing due to the demands of more detailed environmental monitoring or high-quality data. In this paper, we overcome the limitations of low bandwidth in Zigbee-based sensor networks and propose a routing algorithm for real-time multimedia data transmission. In the previously proposed algorithm for multimedia data transmission occurs delay time of routing setup phase and has a low data transmission speed due to bandwidth limitations of Zigbee. In this paper, we propose the hybrid routing algorithm that consist of Zigbee and Bluetooth and solve the bandwidth problem of existing algorithm. We also propose the disjointed multipath setup algorithm based on competition that overcome delay time of routing setup phase in existing algorithm. To evaluate the superiority of the proposed algorithm, we compare it with the existing algorithm. Our experimental results show that the latency was reduced by approximately 78% and the communication speed is increased by approximately 6.9-fold.
This paper suggests the energy-efficient message delivery scheme and the software platform which exploits the multiple network interfaces of the mobile terminals and GPS in the current mobile devices. The mobile terminals determine the delivery method among 'direct', 'indirect', and 'WAN' based on the position information of itself and other terminals. 'Direct' method sends a message directly to the target terminal using local RAT. 'Indirect' method extends the service area by exploiting intermediate terminals as relay node. If the target terminal is too far to reach through 'direct' or 'indirect' method, the message is sent using wireless WAN technology. Our proposed scheme exploits the position information and, thus, power consumption is drastically reduced in determining handover time and direction. Network simulation results show that our proposed delivery scheme improves the message transfer efficiency and the handover detection latency. We implemented a message platform in a smart phone realizing the proposed delivery scheme. We compared our platform with other typical message platforms from energy efficiency aspect by observing the real power consumption and applying the mathematical modeling. The comparison results show that our platform requires significantly less power.
Vehicular ad-hoc networks is temporarily established through inter-vehicle communication without any additional infrastructure aids. It requires a immediate message propagation because it mainly deals with critical traffic information such as traffic accidents. The distance-based broadcast scheme is one of the representative broadcast schemes for vehicular ad-hoc network. In this scheme, a node to disseminate messages is selected based on a distance from a source node. However, a message propagation delay will be increased if the relay nodes are not placed at the border of transmission range of the source node. In particular, when the node density is low, the message propagation delay is getting longer. In this paper, we propose a time-window reservation based relay node selection scheme. A node receiving the alert message from the source node has its time-window and randomly selects its waiting time within the given time-window range. A proportional time period of the given time-window is reserved in order to reduce the message propagation delay. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme has shorter message propagation delay than the distance-based broadcast scheme irrespective of node density in VANET. In particular, when the node density is low, the proposed scheme shows about 26% shorter delay and about 46% better performance in terms of compound metric, which is a function of propagation latency and network traffic.

All active nudes which have no physically direct connection with each other in If network must be able to compose and manage network topology Informations. Besides one active program can be performed by the active nodes when every active packet for this program is transmitted without any loss of packets. Also the active packets should be transmitted effectively to minimize the transmission delay and securely from threatens. In this thesis, the discovery scheme of active nodes is adapted for active nodes in IP networks to compose and manage the topology information. The scheme for the efficient, reliable and secure transmission of active packets is also proposed. The sequence number is assigned to every active packet. If a receiver detects the loss of active packet checking the sequence number, the receiver requests the retransmission of the lost packet to the previous active node. kiter receiving an active packet and adapting security and reliability schemes, intermediate active nodes not only copy and send the Packet Instantly but also apply some suity mechanisms to it. And the active packet transmission engine is proposed to provide these transmission schemes The simulation of the adapted active node discovery scheme and the proposed active packet transmission engine is performed. The simulation results show that the adapted active node discovery scheme is efficient and the proposed active engine has the low latency and the high performance.

This paper presents a method to detect zebra-crossing using deep learning which combines SegNet and ResNet. For the blind, a safe crossing system is important to know exactly where the zebra-crossings are. Zebra-crossing detection by deep learning can be a good solution to this problem and robotic vision-based assistive technologies sprung up over the past few years, which focused on specific scene objects using monocular detectors. These traditional methods have achieved significant results with relatively long processing times, and enhanced the zebra-crossing perception to a large extent. However, running all detectors jointly incurs a long latency and becomes computationally prohibitive on wearable embedded systems. In this paper, we propose a model for fast and stable segmentation of zebra-crossing from captured images. The model is improved based on a combination of SegNet and ResNet and consists of three steps. First, the input image is subsampled to extract image features and the convolutional neural network of ResNet is modified to make it the new encoder. Second, through the SegNet original up-sampling network, the abstract features are restored to the original image size. Finally, the method classifies all pixels and calculates the accuracy of each pixel. The experimental results prove the efficiency of the modified semantic segmentation algorithm with a relatively high computing speed.
Due to the application-specific nature of wireless sensor networks, the sensitivity to such a requirement as data reporting latency may vary depending on the type of applications, thus requiring application-specific algorithm and protocol design paradigms which help us to maximize energy conservation and thus the network lifetime. In this paper, we propose a novel delay-adaptive sensor scheduling scheme for energy-saving data gathering which is based on a two phase clustering (TPC). The ultimate goal is to extend the network lifetime by providing sensors with high adaptability to the application-dependent and time-varying delay requirements. The TPC requests sensors to construct two types of links: direct and relay links. The direct links are used for control and forwarding time critical sensed data. On the other hand, the relay links are used only for data forwarding based on the user delay constraints, thus allowing the sensors to opportunistically use the most energy-saving links and forming a multi-hop path. Simulation results demonstrate that cluster-based delay-adaptive data gathering strategy (CD-DGS) saves a significant amount of energy for dense sensor networks by adapting to the user delay constraints.
Studies on target motion in 4-dimensional radiotherapy are being world-widely conducted to enhance treatment record and protection of normal organs. Prediction of tumor motion might be very useful and/or essential for especially free-breathing system during radiation delivery such as respiratory gating system and tumor tracking system. Neural network is powerful to express a time series with nonlinearity because its prediction algorithm is not governed by statistic formula but finds a rule of data expression. This study intended to assess applicability of neural network method to predict tumor motion in 4-dimensional radiotherapy. Scaled Conjugate Gradient algorithm was employed as a learning algorithm. Considering reparation data for 10 patients, prediction by the neural network algorithms was compared with the measurement by the real-time position management (RPM) system. The results showed that the neural network algorithm has the excellent accuracy of maximum absolute error smaller than 3 mm, except for the cases in which the maximum amplitude of respiration is over the range of respiration used in the learning process of neural network. It indicates the insufficient learning of the neural network for extrapolation. The problem could be solved by acquiring a full range of respiration before learning procedure. Further works are programmed to verify a feasibility of practical application for 4-dimensional treatment system, including prediction performance according to various system latency and irregular patterns of respiration.

Accountable Internet Protocol (AIP) is one of the future Internet architectures to provide accountability concept by using the self-certifying address that is derived by the public key of the host. In AIP, when a host sends a packet, a domain that is located between the source and the destination hosts discards the packet in order to verify the source IP address. Therefore, performance degradation can occur due to packet discard especially when there is asymmetric route. In this paper, we propose the improved AIP mechanism to verify the source IP address without discarding the packet by including the timestamp, public key value and the signature for protecting from forfeiting the source address. Security safety of the proposed mechanism is evaluated and the proposed mechanism can provide the more robust security as well as reducing the latency due to discarding packets.

With the emergence of new applications, packet classification is essential for supporting advanced internet applications, such as network security and QoS provisioning. As the packet classification on multiple-fields is a difficult and time consuming problem, internet routers need to classify incoming packet quickly into flows. In this paper, we present multi-phase packet classification architecture using an internal buffer for fast packet processing. Using internal buffer between address pair searching phase and remained fields searching phases, we can hide latency from the characteristic that search times of source and destination header fields are different. Moreover we guarantee the improvement by using single entry caching. The proposed architecture is easy to apply to different needs owing to its simplicity and generality.
