  • In this paper, we explore the ubiquitous system that provides new business opportunities in the context of digital convergence. Exploiting the value network of the proposed ubiquitous system, we analyze strategic market drivers that define the speed and direction of the evolution path for ubiquitous industries. Motivated by the dynamic growth of ubiquitous industry, we design a set of ubiquitous business models that pave the way for firms to identify profitable business cases. In addition, we analyze the evolution path of the proposed business model such that the model can be implemented in the life-cycle of ubiquitous industry. Futhermore, we develop a modeling framework for selecting a suitable business model and for evaluating the performance of the selected business model.

  • LTE-R(Long Term Evolution-Railway) based on LTE technology is expected to use core communication technology for high speed railway as one of standards for railway communications. In this paper, transmission performance of video traffic as an application is analyzed on LTE-R networks. Performance is evaluated with compter simulation based NS(Network Simulator)-2, open video traffic is used, RTP(Real Time Protocol) is used for transmission protocol. Results and methods of this paper can be used for research and developmemt of LTE-R networks.

  • The specification of the Home Evolved NodeB (Home-eNB), which is a small base station designed for use in residential or small business environment, is currently ongoing in 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) systems. One of the key requirements for its feasibility in the LTE system is the mobility management in the deployment of the numerous Home-eNBs and other 3GPP network. In this paper, we overview the characteristic of Home-eNB and also describe the mobility management issues and the related approaches in 3GPP LTE based Home-eNB systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a LQR(Linear Quadratic Regulator) controller design for the active suspension using two-degree-of-freedom quarter-car model. We can improve the inherent suspension problem, the tradeoff between ride quality and suspension travel by selecting appropriate weights in the LQR-objective function. Because any definite rules for selecting weights do not exist, we replace the designer´s trial and error with the optimization-algorithm, ES(Evolution Strategy). Using the ES, we can find the proper control gains for selected frequencies, which have major effects on the vibrations of the vehicle´s state variables.

  • This paper investigates the evolution of 'inter-firm' technology transfer in the Thai automobile industry, which has gradually been integrated into global production network of some specific automotive models(one-ton pickups). This paper discusses the linkage between the role of automobile assemblers in transferring technology and the way their strategic changes bring about heightened demands on the technological capacity of suppliers and the contents of technology transfer. With higher competition at the global level, local suppliers are required to improve their technical and managerial skills, especially in the area of 'product engineering' capability. The authors examine the ways local firms have adapted to these changes in their environments, as well as the ways they utilize inter-firm relationship with automobile assemblers as a means to improve their own technological capabilities. The dynamic process of capability formation in local parts firms, through intensive efforts and learning inducements brought about by inter-firm relationships, are also discussed.

A Study on the Bayesian Recurrent Neural Network for Time Series Prediction (시계열 자료의 예측을 위한 베이지안 순환 신경망에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the Bayesian recurrent neural network is proposed to predict time series data. A neural network predictor requests proper learning strategy to adjust the network weights, and one needs to prepare for non-linear and non-stationary evolution of network weights. The Bayesian neural network in this paper estimates not the single set of weights but the probability distributions of weights. In other words, the weights vector is set as a state vector of state space method, and its probability distributions are estimated in accordance with the particle filtering process. This approach makes it possible to obtain more exact estimation of the weights. In the aspect of network architecture, it is known that the recurrent feedback structure is superior to the feedforward structure for the problem of time series prediction. Therefore, the recurrent neural network with Bayesian inference, what we call Bayesian recurrent neural network (BRNN), is expected to show higher performance than the normal neural network. To verify the proposed method, the time series data are numerically generated and various kinds of neural network predictor are applied on it in order to be compared. As a result, feedback structure and Bayesian learning are better than feedforward structure and backpropagation learning, respectively. Consequently, it is verified that the Bayesian reccurent neural network shows better a prediction result than the common Bayesian neural network.

  • The evolution of the Web from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 has brought up new platforms as SNSs(Social Network Service) that are used by users to articulate and manage their relationships. SNSs are an online phenomenon which has become extremely popular. A SNS essentially consists of a representation of each user, his/her social links, and a variety of additional services. SNSs are increasingly attracting the attention of academic and industry researchers. What makes SNS unique is that they have a relationship with friends. The friend recommendation is one important feature of social networking services. People tend to trust the opinions of friends they know rather than the opinions of strangers. In this paper, we propose an efficient data processing method for social data. We study previous researches about social score in social network service. Our ESS(Efficient Social Score) is computed by both friendship weight and score of a document that was tagged by a user's friends. Our experimental results also confirm that our method has good performance.

국제 표준 LTE-Advanced에서 논의되고 있는 Heterogeneous Network 관련 Interference Management 기술

  • 3GPP($3^{rd}$ Generation Partnership project)는 3세대 이동통신인 UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)의 초기 표준화 이후 HSPA(High Speed Packet Access), MBMS(Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) 등의 기술 개발로 UMTS시스템을 지속적으로 발전시켜 왔다. 그리고, 최근 새로운 무선 접속 기술을 기반한 LTE(Long Term Evolution)시스템에 대한 표준화를 완료하고 ITU-T(International Telecommnunications Union-Radio)의 IMT-Advanced 요구사항을 만족하는 LTE-Advanced 시스템에 대한 연구를 진행하고 있다. 한편 LTE-Advanced 표준의 목표인 무선 전송속도를 한층 더 높이고, 단위비용(cost per bit)을 더욱 낮추고, 셀 커버리지 및 용량을 확대하기 한 저출력의 피코셀, 펨토셀, 무선중계기들을 이용하여 실내외의 소규모 영역을 서비스하도록 하는 heterogeneous network에 대한 국제 표준이 활발히 논의되고 있다. 그러나 여러 셀이 혼재하는 경우 셀들간의 신호 간섭이 발생하여 사용자의 통신 품질이 크게 저하될 우려가 있다. 본 고에서는 heterogeneous network 와 관련하여 국제 표준 LTE-Advanced에서 논의되고 있는 간섭 제어 기법에 대해 소개한다.

  • This paper focuses on self-organization of fuzzy rules for performance management of computer communication networks serving manufacturing systems. The performance management aims to improve the network performance in handling various types of messages by on-line adjustment of protocol parameters. The principle of fuzzy logic has been used in representing the knowledge of human expert on the performance management and in deriving management decisions. In this paper, we present applications of genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, and evolution strategies to find a better set of rules for various network conditions. The efficacy of this self-organization is demonstrated by discrete simulation of an IEEE 802.4 network.

  • The modeling method to support product development processes (PDP) must have certain characteristics including the ability to represent multiple viewpoints of the product development and integrate with currently available analysis and design methods based on CE concept. This paper describes the reference model to support multiple viewpoints (PPO: Products, Processes, and Organizations/Resources viewpoints) of the product development processes, from which each model (Products model, Processes model, and Organizations/Resources model) can be extracted, as well as produces PPO data schema. This reference model has associative relationships among the products, processes, and organizations/resources. To allow the extensibility to support design evolution, we propose structured dat representation methods using semantic network, which can be constructed through first-order logic. The product development processes is so represented by specifying entities and semantic relationships among them hat he appropriate information can be accessed and all of the relevant attributes about the entities can be retrieved simultaneously.
