  • The iterative calculation by least square method was used to determine the source location of acoustic emission in rock, as so called "traditional method". The results were compared with source coordinates infered from the application of neural network system for new input data, as so called "new method". Input data of the neural network were based on the time differences of longitudinal waves arrived from acoustic emission events at each transducer, the variation of longitudinal velocities at each stress level, and the coordinates of transducer as in the traditional method. The momentum back propagation neural network system adopted to determine source location, which consists of three layers, and has twenty-seven input processing elements. Applicability of the new method were identified, since the results of source location by the application of two methods were similarly concordant.

  • Segmenting OCT retinal images into layers is important to diagnose and understand the progression of retinal diseases or identify potential symptoms. The task of manually identifying these layers is a difficult task that requires a lot of time and effort even for medical professionals, and therefore, various studies are being conducted to automate this using deep learning technologies. In this paper, we use cGAN-based neural network to automatically segmenting OCT retinal images into seven terrain-type regions defined by six layer boundaries. The network is composed of a Segnet-based generator model and a discriminator model. We also proposed a dynamic programming algorithm for refining the outputs of the network. We performed experiments using public OCT image data set and compared its performance with the Segnet-only version of the network. The experimental results show that the cGAN-based network outperforms Segnet-only version.

  • The existing electrical engineering design method and the dynamic objective function in the application process of automatic control system fail to meet the unbounded condition, which affects the control tracking accuracy. In order to improve the tracking control accuracy, this paper studies the electrical engineering design method based on neural network and the application of automatic control system. This paper analyzes the structure and working mechanism of electrical engineering automation control system by an automation control model with main control objectives. Following the analysis, an optimal solution of controllability design and fault-tolerant control is figured out. The automatic control power coefficient is distributed based on an ideal control effect of system. According to the distribution results, an automatic control algorithm is based on neural network for accurate control. The experimental results show that the electrical automation control method based on neural network can significantly reduce the control following error to 3.62%, improve the accuracy of the electrical automation tracking control, thus meeting the actual production needs of electrical engineering automation control system.

  • Recently, the development of wireless network technologies has been advancing in several directions: increasing data transmission speed, enhancing user mobility, expanding the range of services offered, improving the utilization of the radio frequency spectrum, and enhancing the intelligence of network and subscriber equipment. In this research, a series of contradictions has emerged in the field of wireless network technologies, with the most acute being the contradiction between the growing demand for wireless communication services (on operational frequencies) and natural limitations of frequency resources, in addition to the contradiction between the expansions of the spectrum of services offered by wireless networks, increased quality requirements, and the use of traditional (outdated) management technologies. One effective method for resolving these contradictions is the application of artificial intelligence elements in wireless telecommunication systems. Thus, the development of technologies for building intelligent (cognitive) radio and cognitive wireless networks is a technological imperative of our time. The functions of artificial intelligence in prospective wireless systems and networks can be implemented in various ways. One of the modern approaches to implementing artificial intelligence functions in cognitive wireless network systems is the application of fuzzy logic and fuzzy processors. In this regard, the work focused on exploring the application of fuzzy logic in prospective cognitive wireless systems is considered relevant.

  • In order to reduce the cost of software maintenance including software modification, we suggest the object oriented program with checking the version of application program using the Java language and the technique of executing the downloaded application program via network using the application manager. In order to change the traditional scheduler to the application manager we have adopted the Xlet concept in the nuclear fields using the network. In usual Xlet means a Java application that runs on the digital television receiver. The Java TV Application Program Interface(API) defines an application model called the Xlet application lifecycle. Java applications that use this lifecycle model are called Xlets. The Xlet application lifecycle is compatible with the existing application environment and virtual machine technology. The Xlet application lifecycle model defines the dialog(protocol) between an Xlet and its environment

  • As the number of overseas travelers with smartphones increases, there is a growing interest in smartphone applications, which can assist traveling. Typically, travelers need applications to obtain basic information, such as weather, map, currency, etc. However, existing smartphone applications are not suitable to do so because they require network connection that is expensive and unstable in overseas. For example, one of the most frequently used smartphone map application requires a network connection, and much battery to download images. Since travelers spend most of their time outside, there is no chance to charge the battery. In this paper, we propose a study on implementation of a smartphone application for overseas travelers, called Travel Manager, which aims to reduce usages of network connection and battery. Travel Manager first checks whether smartphone is connected to the network, and then synchronizes the travel information. It also automatically calculates traveling expenses by considering currency rate. That is, the proposed smartphone application can be used regardless of the network connection and minimizes the battery usage.

  • The routers in an active network perform customized computations on the messages flowing through them, while the role of routers in the traditional packet network, such as the Internet, is to passively forward packets as fast as possible. In contrast to the Internet, the processing in active networks can be customized on a per user or per application basis. Active networks allow users to inject information into the network, where the information describes or controls a program to be executed for the users by the routers as well as the end hosts. So the network users can realize the active networks by "programming" the network behavior via the programming interface exposed to them. In this paper, we devise a network protocol model and present a verification technique for reasoning about the correctness of an active application defined using the model. The technique is developed in a platform- and language-independent way, and it is algorithmic and can be automated by computer program. We give an example dealing with network auction to illustrate the use of the model and the verification technique.

  • Hopfield neural network has been applied to the problem of economic load dispatch(ELD) of electric power. The optimum values of neuron potentials are represented in terms of large numbers. The differential synchronous transition mode is used in this simulation. Through case studies, we have shown the possibility of the application of neural network to ELD. In case of including the transmission losses, the proposed method has an advantage that the problem can be solved simply with one neural network, without calculating incremental fuel costs and incremental losses required by traditional method.

  • Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) have proved to be useful in applications that involve monitoring of real-time data. There is a wide variety of monitoring applications that can employ Wireless Sensor Network. Characteristics of a WSN, such as topology and scale, depend upon the application, for which it is employed. Security requirements in WSN vary according to the application dependent network characteristics and the characteristics of an application itself. Key management is the most important aspect of security as some other security modules depend on it. We discuss application dependent variations in WSN, corresponding changes in the security requirements of WSN and the applicability of existing key management solutions in each scenario.
