The primary purpose of this study is to promote and establish the development of home health care in Korea. It focuses on identifying and classifying the nursing activities that were provided by health professionals for patients who were admitted to two hospitals with cerebral vascular disease. And also. the study was conducted for comparison of client selection criteria between health professionals, and identifying patients who needed home health care The subjects of this study were 38 patients with cerebral vascular disease who were admitted to neuro-surgery wards at 2 hospitals with more than 500 beds in Daegu from November 1. through 30. 1991. Survey instruments were questionnaires to identify nursing activities and classify patients who needed home health care. Data was collelected by 1 doctor and 2 nurses per patient independently. They checked the same patient with the questionnaire on the same day and never communicated their information about patients with each other. All the questionnaires checked by doctor and nurses completely were 90. Statistical methods for analyzing data were non-parametric tests (Kruskal Wallice test and sign test). Correlation and percentages were used for further analysis. From this study. the following summarized conclusions have been drawn. 1. 10. 2 kinds of treatment and nursing activities were provided by health professionals for patients with cerebral vascular disease in hospital. 2. The points of nursing needs were between 32-37 out of a total of 500 as a result of the assessment about the health status of patients who were admitted to neuro-surgery ward with cerebral vascular disease. The points of Barthel Index of Functional Status Assessing Devices were between 24-34. Client Selection Criteria for Home Health Care was congruent between the Health professionals because the difference were not found to be statistically significant. 3. Patients classfied as home health care clients were $70-80\%$ of all patients who were admitted in hospital. There was not significant difference in patient selection criteria for home health care between health professionals statistically. As a result. the validity of different tools used in classifying home health care client were found to be congruent. 4. $80-85\%$ patients who could be discharged and sent to their homes early were identified as home health care clients. This study using client selection criteria. for home health care contributed to tool development because the validity of tools was verified. And also, this research represented that there was congruency in patient selection criteria for home health care between different health professionals. As a result, this study represented that many patients who were admitted to hospitals could be classified as a home health care clients. On the basis of the findings. further studies are required to develop client selection criteria using universal tools for classifying home health care clients in other chronic diseases. It is also recommended that comparative studies for client selection criteria between health professionals treating in other chronic diseases are necessary.
Ecosystems have functions of providing, supporting, regulating and cultural services. In particular, there is an increasing attention to the importance of regulating ecosystem services in carbon sequestration function, since it is closely related to the issue of climate change. In this study, to quantify benefits of climate regulating ecosystem services, the carbon storage was defined as an indicator. Nine major Korean ecosystems were classified and research papers on carbon storage were analyzed. The collected carbon storage data were categorized according to classified ecosystems, methodologies, and carbon storage components. For each category, the mean, standard error and coefficient of variation were calculated. The carbon storage indicator was highest in vegetation biomass of deciduous forest ecosystems. The uncertainty was also estimated by the IPCC 2006 guidelines. The estimations of the uncertainty differed by methodologies and carbon storage components. With exception of forest ecosystems, the limited number of studies were available which might have hindered to conduct accurate estimations. These findings indicate that there are needs for further clarification in the measurement standards by different ecosystems.
The aim of this research is to see if there are any relationships between reading disposition, career attitude maturity and self-leading learning trait among gifted and general elementary school students. The research results show that: in reading disposition, gifted students showed higher result compared to the general students at reading interest and reading experience, but were not different in reading environment. Also, gifted students showed higher results in career attitude maturity in determination, purposes, assurance, but were not different in readiness and independence. Additionally, gifted students showed higher results at self-directed learning in 8 sub-categories, which are openness to learning, self notion, taking-initiative ability, responsibility, learning zeal, future-oriented self-knowledge, creativity, and self assessment. In addition, the research indicates that career attitude maturity is correlated with reading interest, reading experience and reading environment. Also, self-leading learning is correlated with reading interest, reading experience and reading environment. On the basis of this research, the following are suggested. The research was conducted for elementary school students in 4th~6th grades. Hence, the research needs to be extended to middle school and high school students. And, in order to guide students' careers and improve students' self-leading learning ability, those results need to be applied to real educational situations. In addition, research need to be done to find out what kind of books have more effect on career attitude maturity and self-directed learning trait.

Objectives: Using laborers participating in the petrochemical factory turnaround process as subjects, this study aims to identify exposure to benzene in the air and examine the relationship between exposure and the excretion of urinary metabolites by measuring concentrations of urinary trans, trans-muconic acid (t,t-MA). Methods: A passive sampler was used to measure the level of benzene in the air. In order to analyze urinary metabolites, the urine of laborers participating in the turnaround process was collected twice daily, both before and after work. In addition, a survey was conducted on work factors and lifestyle habits as factors affecting the concentration of urinary metabolites. Results: During the survey period, benzene was detected in the samples from all workers, and its average concentration was $0.16{\pm}0.22ppm$. The average concentration of t,t-MA after work was $1.20{\pm}1.86mg/g$ creatinine, and the results of analyzing urinary metabolites concentration before and after work showed statistically significant differences(p=0.003). There was also a statistically significant correlation (r=0.52, p=0.002) between benzene in the air and the concentration of after-work urinary t,t-MA. Conclusions: During the turnaround process, the average benzene concentration in workers was $0.16{\pm}0.22ppm$, which was below the exposure limit. However, their average t,t-MA concentration was $1.20{\pm}1.86mg/g$ creatinine, which exceeded the exposure limit of 1mg/g creatinine. The characteristics of turnaround process work require considerations such as underestimating the passive sampler being used and the skin absorption of benzene, and there needs to be a simultaneous assessment of working environment measurements and biological monitoring.

In this study, a questionnaires survey was administered to Korean and Japanese junior high school science teachers in the capital area to investigate the extents of Science-Technology-Society(STS) education practiced in science classroom. The responses of 69 Korean teachers and 33 Japanese teachers were analysed. The results showed that most of teachers in both country knew well about the meaning and the purpose of STS education. Also they realized the needs of applying the STS education in science class and had wills to do it. However, only about a half of teachers - more than a half of Japanese and less than a half of Korean - were practicing the STS related subjects, activities and assessments in the class. Teachers in both country responded that their science textbooks did not contain enough amounts of STS related contents and other STS education materials available were not much. Therefore, it is needed to include more STS related contents in the science textbooks and to develop various STS education materials and circulate them as well as to establish adequate teaching and assessment methods for STS education. Also activating teachers' meetings to circulate the informations and materials and improving the school environments are recommended.

Sri Lanka is an island nation susceptible to climate-related disasters and extreme weather events. Kurunegala City is the developing capital city of the North-Western Province of Sri Lanka. Changes in rainfall patterns and a steadily increasing annual average temperature amounting to 0.69±0.37℃ were observed in the city area. Generally, urban areas are at risk due to the lack of climate change adaptation provisions incorporated in the development plans. This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of Krunegala City, Sri Lanka and develop an appropriate climate change adaptation plan for the city. Site investigation and qualitative risk assessment were conducted to devise a plan relevant to the climate change adaptation needs of the city. Qualitative risk analyses revealed that drinking water, water resources, and health and infrastructure risks were among the major concerns in Kurunegala City. Low impact development (LID) technologies were found to be applicable to induce non-point source pollutant reduction, relieve urban heat island phenomenon, and promote sound water circulation systems. These technologies can be effective means of alleviating water shortage and reducing urban temperature. The measures and strategies presented in this study can serve as reference for developing climate change adaptation plans in areas experiencing similar adverse effects of climate change.
The purpose of this study is to find the application point of hearing augmentation technology development through examining the risk context experience of people with hearing impairment and the use of assistive device used as an alternative technology. Data of 355 people with hearing impairment with official disability grading was analyzed. The results of this study are first, research participants had no experience of recognizing any sound or vibration in situations highest in the order of means of transportation, material, and nature. Especially the ratio of being unable to recognize the sound and vibration of means of transportation was high, which implies the high possibility of people with hearing impairment experiencing risk. Secondly, the risk context that people with hearing impairment will most likely to experience are highest in the order of traffic accident, pedestrian accident, and daily life at home. Thirdly, the recognition of 2G phone/smart phone, vibrating digital alarm clock, light bar, vibrating wrist watch as assistive device for risk context awareness and notification was high and the satisfaction level of 2G phone/smart phone was the highest. Fourthly, the research participants had high recognition of assistive device for communication in the order of hearing aid, smart phone, videophone, cochlear implant and 2G phone and it was found that the satisfaction level and communication improvement level was the highest using the smart phone. Lastly, for the development of hearing augmentation technology the research participants recognized the importance of portable/wear convenience, price, and motion accuracy and for notification delivery means they preferred the method of using sight(text and light). Based on the results of this study policy and practical plans for hearing augmentation technology development for people with hearing impairment in risk context are proposed.

The needs for precise diagnostics and farm management-decision aids have increased to reduce the risk of climate change and environmental stress. Crop simulation models have been widely used to search optimal solutions for effective cultural practices. However, limited knowledge on physiological responses to environmental variation would make it challenging to apply crop simulation models to a wide range of studies. Advanced research facilities would help investigation of plant response to the environment. In the present study, the sunlit controlled environment chambers, known as Korean SPAR (Soil-Plant-Atmosphere-Research) system, was developed by renovating existing SPAR system. The Korean SPAR system controls and monitors major environmental variables including atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration, temperature and soil moisture. Furthermore, plants are allowed to grow under natural sunlight. Key physiological and physical data such as canopy photosynthesis and respiration, canopy water and nutrient use over the whole growth period are also collected automatically. As a case study, it was shown that the Korean SPAR system would be useful for collection of data needed for understanding the growth and developmental processes of a crop, e.g., soybean. In addition, we have demonstrated that the canopy photosynthetic data of the Korean SPAR indicate the precise representation of physiological responses to environment variation. As a result, physical and physiological data obtained from the Korean SPAR are expected to be useful for development of an advanced crop simulation model minimizing errors and confounding factors that usually occur in field experiments.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the eight topics in TIMSS 2019 8th grade chemistry domains and the Korea 2009 Revised Science Curriculum and the 2015 Revised Science Curriculum. For this purpose, four elementary and four secondary teachers participated in physics, chemistry, biology and earth science majors, and two science education experts participated in analyzing in which grades the content elements of the TIMSS 2019 science framework are covered in the Korean science curriculum. The study also analyzed whether the content of the Korean science curriculum matches the 246 items of 8th grade in the TIMSS 2019 assessment and reflects in which grades the eight topics are covered. The results of this study are as follows. First, among the TIMSS 2019 evaluation topics, topics not covered at all in the Korean middle school curriculum were periodic table, matter and energy in chemical reactions, the role of electrons in chemical bonds. Second, the topic of "the periodic table as an organizing principle for the known elements" needs to be introduced in the Korean middle school curriculum, and topics such as "familiar exothermic and endothermic reactions" and "factors affecting the reaction rates" need to be discussed in consideration of the flow of international curricula. Third, the next science curriculum should be structured so that the sequence of chemistry contents and scope, especially core concepts to be included in the elementary, secondary, and higher education curriculum is linked to continuity.
