  • Loading/Unloading(L/UL) mechanism has been considered to be an alternative to contact start-stop(CSS) mechanism which eliminates stiction and wear associated with frequent start and stop process. It has other advantages including increased areal density due to lower flying height, reduced power consumption, and improved shock resistance. In order for L/UL to be Implemented in Near-field recording system properly, dynamics of optical flying head must be understood and optimized. In this paper the dynamic characteristics during loading process is analyzed numerically to investigate the effect of design parameters such as loading speed. slider shape, and initia conditions on the dynamic reponses of flying head..

개구형 근접장 헤드장치의 간극제어를 위한 이중 서보 제어 (Dual Servo Control for Aperture Type Near Field Storage Head)

  • This paper presents an active control of the aperture type near-field storage head. In order to achieve a fast and accurate control, a dual servo control algorithm is applied. Based on the big difference in time constants of two actuators, they are used independently. With the combination fine and coarse actuator, the disk is rotated up to 10 rpm speed until the gap is controlled within 100 nm. From the experimental results, the feasibility and the performance of active dual servo gap control is proved.

  • This paper presents an approach to optimally design the air-bearing surface (ABS) of the optical flying head for near-field recording technology (NFR). NFR is an optical recording technology using very small beam spot size by overcoming the limit of beam diffraction. One of the most Important problems in NFR is a head disk interface (HDI) issue over the recording band during the operation. A multi-criteria optimization problem is formulated to enhance the flying performances over the entire recording band during the steady state. The optimal solution of the slider, whose target flying height is 50 nm, is automatically obtained. The flying height during the steady state operation becomes closer to the target values than those fur the initial one. The pitch and roll angles are also kept within suitable ranges over the recording band. Especially, all of the air-bearing stiffness are drastically increased by the optimized geometry of the air bearing surface.

  • A parametric loudspeaker is a device to generate highly directional sound using ultrasounds. The parametric loudspeaker could be used to focus sound in a limited space, so it is important to study the characteristics of the parametric loudspeaker in near-field. Mechanism of the audible sound generation in the parametric loudspeaker is explained by nonlinear interaction of the ultrasounds and is modeled as KZK equation, the nonlinear wave equation which contains attenuation, nonlinearity and diffraction. To measure the directional characteristics of the parametric loudspeaker precisely, a method to reduce the spurious signal which taints the measured signal was invented. With the method, directivity patterns of the parametric loudspeaker were measured and compared to the approximated solution and piston sources.

  • Information storage devices using disks have a disk vibration at the frequency which is equivalent to the disk rotational speed. They also have a track vibration due to the disk eccentricity at the same frequency. In near field recording systems, the former affects the air-gap servo and the latter affects the tracking servo. In this paper, we introduce a novel control algorithm based on the internal model principle to both servos. A controller block designed by the principle is connected to the base lead-lag type compensator in parallel in order to cancel the repeatable run-out due to the disk vibration or eccentricity. Simulation and practical application of the algorithm on a near field recording system show good servo performance.

  • 소음원 위치와 방위를 규명하기 위해 다양한 배열처리기술이 발전되어 왔다. 배열처리기술의 기본은 두 개의 수신센서에 수신된 신호의 시간차를 이용하여 소음원의 위치와 방위를 구하는 것으로 응용분야나 신호처리방법에 따라 고유의 특성을 갖는 빔형성기법, 상관함수기법 및 NAH (Near-Field Acoustic Holography) 등이 있다 본 연구에서는 이러한 기법들 중 광대역 소음원 탐지에 적용되는 상관함수기법을 채택하여 소음원의 대역폭과 측정 잡음원 간의 상관 관계가 위치나 방위 탐지 정확도에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 효과적인 소음원 탐지기법을 제안한다. 본 연구에서 채택한 배열의 기하학적 형상은 위치나 방위의 3차원적 모호성을 없애기 위한 3차원 비선형이며 제안된 기법의 타당성은 수치모의 실험 및 실제 실험으로 검증되었다.

Numerical Study of Drag and Noise Reduction of Electric Cable

  • To develop the code of predicting flow-field and aeroacoustic noise by an electrical cable, a combined CFD-Acoustic analogy approach is selected. The two dimensional, unsteady and incompressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes solver with κ-ω and κ-ω SST turbulence modeling is used to calculate the near flow-field around an electric cable. Near-field results are then coupled with two-dimensional Curle's integral formulation based upon Lighthill's acoustic analogy with the assumption of acoustic compactness. To validate this code, numerical results are compared with experimental data for a circular cylinder. The simulation shows an overprediction on acoustic amplitudes, but overally speaking, the spectrum pattern of sound pressure agrees well with experiment within an acceptable amount of error. In addition, a few cross-sections of the cable were selected and tested with each other in terms of drag and radiated noise

  • The propagation characteristics of the impulse wave discharged from the exit of a perforated pipe is investigated through a simple shock tube facility. The pressure histories and directivities of the impulse wave propagating outside from the exit of pipe with several different configurations are analyzed for the range of the incident weak shock wave Mach number between 1.02 and 1.2. In the shock tube experiments, the impulse wave are visualized by a Schlieren optical system for the purpose of understanding its propagation characteristics. The experimental results show that for the near sound field the impulse noise strongly propagates toward to the pipe axis, but for the far sound field the impulse noise uniformly propagates toward to the omnidirections, indicating that the directivity pattern is almost same regardless of the pipe type. Especially, it is shown that the perforated pipe has a little performance to reduce the impulse noise only for the near sound field

복소음향 인텐시티법을 이용한 소음원검출의 시뮬레이션 및 실차응용 (Computer Simulation for Noise Source Identification and Application to Vehicle Using Complex Acoustic Intensity Method)

  • Sound intensity distributions and energy flow in the near field of dipole source system and flat plate were investigated. First, the effectiveness of complex acoustic intensity was proved by using mathmatical and experimental methods in order to indentify noise sources and transmission paths of dipole field which is effected by the presence of neighbouring coherent sources. Next, analytical complex acoustic intensity method was discussed and the characteristics and energy flow of sound induced from the plate are clarified. The velocity of plate obtained from Finite Element Method was used for calculation of complex acoustic intensity in the near field. Finally experimental complex acoustic intensity method was applied to a passenger car. It can be seen that complex acoustic intensity method using both of active and reactive intensity is vital in devising a strategy for the identification and the reduction of vibration and noise.
