We propose a new expression of the near-field gain correction to calculate the on-axis far-field gain from the onaxis near-field gain for a directive antenna. The new expression is represented by transversal vectorial transmitting characteristics of two antennas that are measured by planar near-field equipment. Due to the advantages of the photonic sensor, the utilization of the new expression realizes the measurements of the on-axis far-field gains for two kinds of double ridged waveguide horn antennas within 0.1 dB deviation from 1 GHz to 6 GHz without calibrating the photonic sensor system.
Using symplectic relation and reaction concept, we propose a planar near-field antenna measurement method. A generalized probe compensation equation is deduced to obtain the probe correction formulation. To verify our approach, a reflector antenna with $1{\times}2$ horn array is fabricated and measured in the near-field measurement facility. The near-field measurement results are compared with the physical optics (PO) simulation. The results of measurement and simulation agree very well near to the mainbeam.

An accurate and efficient evaluation for hypersingular integrals (HIs), strongly singular integrals (SSIs), and weakly singular integrals (WSIs) plays an essential role in the numerical solutions of 3D electromagnetic scattering problems. We derive analytic formulas for WSIs based on Stokes' theorem, which can be expressed in elementary functions. Several numerical examples are presented to validate these analytic formulas. Then, to show the feasibility of the proposed formulations for numerical methods, these formulations are used with the existing analytical expressions of HIs and SSIs to correct the near-field interaction in an iterative physical optics (IPO) scheme. Using IPO, the scattering caused by a dihedral reflector is analyzed and compared with the results of the method of moments and measurement data.

Although various studies about indoor positioning systems, such as beacon and Wifi, have been conducting for indoor positioning of workers at construction sites, these systems have limitations in terms of accuracy or economics. To overcome these limitations, geomagnetic field sequence-based indoor positioning technology can be a good alternative. However, it is necessary to correct the geomagnetic field near the construction material stocking area since the geomagnetic field can be distorted near construction materials such as rebars. Therefore, this study conducted an experiment for identifying correction range of geomagnetic field near the construction material stocking area. It was analyzed that the geomagnetic field should be corrected up to 60cm in the horizontal direction from the stocking point if the height of stocking area for rebars is 40cm or more. This study can be used for important reference for development of geomagnetic field sequence-based indoor positioning technology suitable for construction sites.
Shipwaves can have harmful effects on people who are using riverside and cause bank erosion, bank structures destruction in restricted waterways. The wave field near a vessel is consisted of a combination of a primary and secondary wave system in a shallow or restricted waterway. The water level depression(squat) and return current beside the hull are called the primary wave system. The secondary wave system, that is the wave height originates from a local disturbance point such as the bow of the ship. This study aims at investigating the characteristics of the wave field around a vessel in a restricted water in relation to navigation experimentally and theoretically. The return current and squat with a correction factor can be newly evaluated and the almost same high-sized wave heights take place on the whole waterway in a restricted water without regard to the distance from the sailing line.

Array error analysis and correction of active array antenna are described in this paper. Array elements composed of radiator and TR(Transmit & Recive) module have error(magnitude and phase difference among array elements) which affects SLL(Side Lobe Level). Error affectedness level depends on ideal SLL according to antenna aperture weighting, number of array elements and antenna effective aperture. To satisfy required SLL, correction of array elements is necessary; adopted differently per errors, and weighted differently per shapes of antenna and required SLL. Errors of every individual element had been defined, performance of the antenna with or without error correction had been estimated and proved through near field test.
An array based, outward monitoring, ultrasonic guided wave based SHM technique using a single transmitter and multiple receivers (STMR), with a small footprint is discussed here. The previous implementation of such SHM arrays used a phase-reconstruction algorithm (that is similar to the beam-steering algorithm) for the imaging of reflectors. These algorithms were found to have a limitation during the imaging of defects/reflectors that are present in the "near-field" of the array. Here, the "near-field" is defined to be approximately 3-4 times the diameter of the compact array. This limitation is caused by approximations in the beam-steering reconstruction algorithm. In this paper, a migration-based reconstruction algorithm, with dispersion correction in the frequency domain, is discussed. Simulation and experimental studies are used to demonstrate that this algorithm improves the reconstruction in the "near-field" without decreasing the ability to reconstruct defects in the "far-field" in both isotropic and anisotropic plates.

In order ot study the influence of a circular inclusion on a stress field near a crack tip, mutual interference of a slant crack and the circular inclusion is analyzed of a bimaterial inclusion. As the crack emanates at the equivalent slant crack angle the correction factors FⅠ and FⅡ for the inclusion wit small Young's modulus were found to decrease as the inclusion radius increased. The correction factors for inclusion with large Young's modulus increase as the inclusion radius increases at the equivalent radius of the inclusion, the correction factors decrease as the slant crack angle increases for the aspect ratio $\frac{c}{W}$ = 0.1 irrespective of the Young's modulus. For $\frac{c}{W}$ greater than 0.2, they increase as the slant crack angle increases. There is no influence of stress mutual interfce after crack emanates beyond the inclusion radius.
Purpose: The management of metal-induced field inhomogeneities is one of the major concerns of distortion-free magnetic resonance images near metallic implants. The recently proposed method called "Slice Encoding for Metal Artifact Correction (SEMAC)" is an effective spin echo pulse sequence of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) near metallic implants. However, as SEMAC uses the noisy resolved data elements, SEMAC images can have a major problem for improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) without compromising the correction of metal artifacts. To address that issue, this paper presents a novel reconstruction technique for providing an improvement of the SNR in SEMAC images without sacrificing the correction of metal artifacts. Materials and Methods: Low-rank approximation in each coil image is first performed to suppress the noise in the slice direction, because the signal is highly correlated between SEMAC-encoded slices. Secondly, SEMAC images are reconstructed by the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE), also known as Gauss-Markov or weighted least squares. Noise levels and correlation in the receiver channels are considered for the sake of SNR optimization. To this end, since distorted excitation profiles are sparse, $l_1$ minimization performs well in recovering the sparse distorted excitation profiles and the sparse modeling of our approach offers excellent correction of metal-induced distortions. Results: Three images reconstructed using SEMAC, SEMAC with the conventional two-step noise reduction, and the proposed image denoising for metal MRI exploiting sparsity and low rank approximation algorithm were compared. The proposed algorithm outperformed two methods and produced 119% SNR better than SEMAC and 89% SNR better than SEMAC with the conventional two-step noise reduction. Conclusion: We successfully demonstrated that the proposed, novel algorithm for SEMAC, if compared with conventional de-noising methods, substantially improves SNR and reduces artifacts.
In estimating the freguency-dependent attenuation coefficient, we analyzed the range-dependent ultrasonic beam and proposed the method of calculating the experimental equation of beam pattern in order to reduce the error on the influence of beam pattern. These experimental equations are divided into the spectral centroid and the spec ural standard deviation slope according to axial propagation length. These are repnesented by the first-order equation in the near field of the beam and the second- order eqLlatlon In the far field. In order to prove the validity of this method, the attenuation coefficients of the non-corrected ease and the corrected case are compared. Using the reflected signal from acryle plate, the attenuation coefficients were estimated by the spectral shift method ann the spectral difference method. The result shows attenuation coeffi talents after correction are better than attenuation coefficients before correction. And this method can be applied In vivo measurement.
